Bethesda Softworks is publisher. Bethesda Game Studios is game developer.
Bethesda Game Studios made Starfield. Bethesda Softworks published it.
Arkane Studios made Redfall. Bethesda Softworks published it.
Furthermore, Arkane Studios falls under Zenimax Media which is parent company of all the aforementioned entities. And Zenimax in turn is owned by Microsoft.
Bethesda Softworks handles publishing for all game studios that are subsidiaries to Zenimax. But they don't make the games.
Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks are two distinct entities within the same corporate family.
- Bethesda Game Studios is a game development studio known for creating games like *The Elder Scrolls* series and *Fallout* series.
- Bethesda Softworks is a publishing company that publishes games developed by Bethesda Game Studios as well as titles from other developers.
Both are subsidiaries of ZeniMax Media, which is now owned by Microsoft.
I liked it just fine. It was very shallow for an Arkane game, but the environment was beautiful and the combat pretty satisfying.
My main problem with it was that it wasn't solo-friendly at all; too much of the skill tree was dedicated to co-op abilitie that I had no use for, and the game was atrociously balanced for solo play, so that a couple times I ran into walls where I thought I just wouldn't be able to continue at all.
The story was also a bit bland, and the characters somewhat uninteresting. The looter shooter aspect of it wasn't deep enough to justify it being a looter shooter.
Like a lot of games lately, it felt like a lot of missed opportunities, cut corners, and low effort. It shouldn't have been a co-op focused game.
That last part could be the motto for the last 10 years of gaming. 15 years, really, but at least 2010-2013 showed some modicum of effort from the industry. Everything 2014 and forward has just been a series of cheap cash-ins and cop-outs...
Probably.
I got bored with it after like 2 hours. It probably would have been cooler if you were a vampire and you were being hunted by vampire hunters.
I wasnt trying to call you out or anything, just something I noticed. Maybe the free press lately has convinced people who hasnt tried it to actually give it a shot.
I like it too. But I have a soft spot for games that seem to be on dislike list. I recently picked up skull and bones. It’s not worth the full price but I’m having a lot of fun with it. When redfall was released. Ohhhh it was so bad. Anyone that paid full price. They had all the rights to be mad. It was horrible. So many bugs, glitches and felt so unfinished. Not to mention the frame rate was an abomination. These days if I’m looking to just chill. I fire it up and have fun with it
It should have released in its patched state, but even then it needs more weapon variety and more variety in the human enemies imo. Vampire enemies are fun and decently varied
I saw Vampires. I ran in the opposite direction.. The whole vampire and werewolf trope honestly lost its cool after Twilight went and shit all over them. Even if something else since has tried to do it correctly, that bad taste still lingers. Big reason why I hated Resident Evil Village, too.
It felt lifeless when I played it when it was on Gamepass in the beginning. The enemies seemed incredibly non-threatening and dumb. The world itself felt very dead. The vampires weren’t hitting on shit but maybe that’s my own fault expecting the vampire bosses to be like Blade movie vampires.
One of the few for sure. I wasted a couple of hours on it, its a truly bad game. Very repetitive, boring, almost no real story and the gameplay was just a convoluted mess.
Honestly it wasn’t that bad. Just repetitive as fuck.
As most Bethesda games are
Redfall isn't even made by Bethesda

It was made by Arkane studios but it is owned by Bethesda
So Bethesda didn’t make it. Which is what the other person said.
I think the confusion is Bethesda the publisher vs Bethesda Game Studios.
Bethesda owns the studio which just shut down last week so they kinda did make it
Why can’t people ever admit when they’re wrong. Doubling down is so silly.
If Bethesda owns the studio doesn't that make it a Bethesda game? I may be wrong about this but I always thought that is how it works

If you make something, is it your mom's creation?

That’s like praising Bloomsbury for the *Harry Potter* series instead of giving any credit to JK Rowling.
Not how it works. Also, Bethesda Game Studios is not Bethesda Softworks.
I lost all progress after re downloading the game.
I liked it for two solid weeks.

I think you would like vampyr it goes on sale for $8 all the time
It was just ok.
yes
I had fun playing through it one time with my friends. Won’t ever touch it again, but it was worth our time.
I did enjoy playing it, shame it was not given a chance. The story could have been better presented, all it needed was some polish.
Yes.
I've seen way more people claim to like Redfall this week than I have since it came out. Wonder why?

Idk but I said it on release
I wasnt trying to call you out or anything, just something I noticed. Maybe the free press lately has convinced people who hasnt tried it to actually give it a shot.
What a weird reply
People been sayin it for months since the big patch
Probably not but it’s a dead IP now

I finished the game 3 times, I like the story and it does get harder compared to the first time.
If you don't count the r/redfall sub. Sure. You're the only one who likes it.

First-person only is what killed it for me.
I thought it was ok, but it was definitely lacking depth.

Yes
Yes.
I played it for about 2 hours to get a 7 gamescore achievement and then deleted it lol
