Several of those type of shirts, in fact. I think one or two of them might still be going strong since high school.
Yep! My warm-weather wardrobe consisted of lightweight plaid sportshirts, Hawaiian shirts, and vintage bowling shirts, paired with khaki cargo shorts or distressed carpenter jeans and Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Finished the look with a stainless steel Fossil watch, velcro wallet, and multiple hemp necklaces.
I wear it pretty often. Although will say that my favorite now is the long sleeve thermal undershirt under a flannel with those sleeves rolled up and the undershirt sleeves pushed up below those.
Hell yeah! I found these Carhaarrt mid-weight thermal henleys on clearance at the local farm/hardware store. It's become one of my favorite articles of clothing, and I have done the flannel - graphic tee over long sleeve thermal quite a bit.
Sort of? I live in the midwest, so even though I came from a "city" there was quite a bit of lets say - "rural exposure".
I have a heavy duty carhaart zip up hoodie from like 15 years ago that still looks almost brand new.
I have found some alright stuff at those farm and hardware stores. Mostly it's the stuff for colder weather like flannels and socks.
*I wear long sleeve shirts under short sleeve shirts under long sleeve shirts.*

Did you switch out the original chain with something more ridiculous like a dog leash or the huge plastic chains and have it long enough to go down to your knee?
Had to go re-up at the puka shell store
"Hey, Mark, welcome back to your favorite shop"
Yo, shut the f*ck up and put the pukas in the box
"Okay, Big Mac, there's no need to be rude"
I'm sorry Bob, it's the steroids, they f*ck with my mood Now put the pukas in the bag before I blow my top 'Cause me and Jose 'bout to smash back to IHOP
A couple years ago, while my friends and I were at her mom's house, we pulled out some of her old VHS tapes and watched the Faculty for the first time in decades! While we were watching it, someone asked "How come we never see any of these actors in any movies anymore?" and I said "They were probably blacklisted after refusing to sleep with Harvey Weinstein". And then when the credits ran at the end of the movie, low and behold, Harvey Weinstein's name popped up!
One of those movies where >!people get infected and āturnedā, whether itās aliens or zombies or vampires, and it turns out that killing the leader or queen will turn everyone back, but meanwhile our protagonists are full on irreversibly killing people. So everyone turns back in the end except I think in this case one poor guy they fucked up, Jon Stewart.!<
I was totally into the "two t-shirts" movement. Not an undershirt. Two regular t-shirts.
At the time, I knew it was weird. But it's what everyone did. Some people claimed it was more comfortable than one.
I did that too for a couple of years along with lots of friends. Early high school 94-95 IIRC. Really can't say why. At least the T over a full sleeve provides extra warmth.
A tshirt over a collared button-up shirt was always my favorite. Just typing it sounds ridiculous now, but I remember thinking it looked *so cool* back then.
Here's me and my older brother in '89 I to this day still wear long sleeves under t shirts š I'd like to thank Gleaming The Cube for the style! We both we skaters and that movie was an inspiration!

the shirt-on-shirt. its a fashion mainstay, dont think itll ever really go away so long as breezy, cool days exist.
but that haircut though. *tsk*. might need to keep that one archived.
I'm in that weird zone where you guys say I'm a little too old to be in your group, and the Gen-Xers say I'm too young. I remember this being a thing but I latched on to the flannel shirts and never let go. I did have a few long sleeve tshirts but I just wore them as long sleeve tshirts.
I am not now nor have I ever been thin enough for any of those styles. I am very much a baggy athletic wear kinda guy. Generally find me in basketball shorts and loose sleeveless top. Maybe a Hawaiian shirt over a tank top. Basically I dress like my reddit avatar.
I would, but my blood is too thick to get away with anything more than a single T-shirt out here in Southern California. I know the look basically started here but I run too hot. I can't ever wear a beanie in the snow without sweating hard.
I post on menās fashion sometimes and Iāll get dogged for ādressing like Iām 19ā sometimes and Iām like- my man, i just still dress the same way I always have.
I have a shirt in my closet that has survived the ages, but it is just ONE shirt with long sleeves stitched into the short sleeve to give the look but still not die in Florida heat.
I work outside quite a bit and I rock this long shirt under short sleeve all the time. It's a practical thing too, I like to be able to shed or add layers if needed.
My 10yr old wears that look any day itās below 70ish degrees. Only difference is he hates jeans, so he is usually wearing some track-type pants.
My wife and I get a huge kick out of him dressing straight out of the 90s without realizing it.
All the time. The long sleeve shirt is tight, like a medium, with a large t-shirt over top. I often wonder if people notice that I dress this way a lot.
I tried to get my teen to wear this last winter. Come on, lets get you a thermal top, looks so cool under a t-shirt! He just looks at me, half shade, half pity. āI donāt like all the things you like, mom.ā Yea no shit, thatās why you wonāt awesome vintage comics or play DnD, and instead of cool haircuts you just donāt brush it and try to grow a white kid afro. Dang kids having their own opinions and shaping their own youth culture, I love them.
Honestly I never stopped wearing it. Then I moved to Thailand 14 years ago and still kept weaeing it.
Then one night I was out with some Thai ppl I met, and while drinking beer casually one of the guys asked me " "why do you dress like tuk tuk driver"?
I didnt understand it at first..it took me a year or two to figure it out. Then I realized that most taxi drivers and publoc transportation drivers wear long sleaves under a shirt or tshirt. They protect their arms from the sunburn.
Sunbun Thailand= Getting dark=> being dark= working in fields and low status.
Some of the drivers have only sleeave covers that they wear under a shirt so it looks like long sleaved shirt under a tshirt, but its actually only sleaves.
So yea.. i stopped doing it afterwards cause it felt like every single old dodgy taxy driver wears those...
And I dont want to assiciate with taxi or songteow drivers..they are the worst. Scum of the earth.
Every time I attempt it, my wife be like

šāāļø You really need to have a hole at the end of the sleeves for your thumb to go through.
My wife bought me a hoodie with thumb holes pre-sewn in. I love it so much.
My favorite hoodie is a NIN hoodie that has pre-sewn thumb holes AND a grommet in the pocket to string your headphones wires through. Peak 90s hoodie!
Epic
The only thing that needed was matching pants with a chain wallet.

This just reminds me off those jeans with half exposed boxers sewn into the waistline.
They also used to (maybe still do) sell shirts that looked like it was a T-shirt over a long sleeve Henley...but it was just one shirt.
Can confirm, saw some at JC Penny a couple weeks ago.
I accidentally bought one a couple months ago without realizing it had the thumb holes. From Duluth Trading Co.
My cousin had one of those in the early 90s. She was so giddy over it. I can't find hoodies like that. I'm surprised that feature didn't come common
I just bought a burton hoodie with thumb holes and a hole for headphones
They are really good for snowboarding because you don't get snow up your sleeves when you fall. You can fit them right in the glove.
iām surprised this didnāt catch back on during the pandemic. you never have to touch doorknobs!
Instead, your sleeves can absorb everything!
You gotta chew them yourself tho.
This is key
Ah yes, we used to call those "heroin holes".
JCP had a sweatshirt called āhandcuffsā or something that had these with reinforced holes to prevent ripping. Great sweatshirt. Was the last time I remember them being any kind of decent too
Hoodies without thumb holes now are a deal breaker.
Every time I look at an old school paper chop cutter, I think of this movie
The Elijah Wood fit? All day long boys.
That actually kind of was my style back in the day (and now)ā¦.
[toThisDay.gif](https://media.tenor.com/Bkzz-ayJ1noAAAAM/to-this-day-fight.gif) Several of those type of shirts, in fact. I think one or two of them might still be going strong since high school.
Iām pretty sure I still have almost that exact shirt if my wife didnāt throw it out.
Yeah I'm on Team Elija on this one for sure.
Yep, my work 'uniform'
Yep! My warm-weather wardrobe consisted of lightweight plaid sportshirts, Hawaiian shirts, and vintage bowling shirts, paired with khaki cargo shorts or distressed carpenter jeans and Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Hemp pants were too itchy, good call.
Definitely how I dressed back then.
Yup short sleeve button down is my favorite
Did your dad ever walk in on you doing something unforgivable to your mothers home baked apple pie?
Walked in on me? No.
Found the engineer.
Ah yes, the t-shirt over the long sleeve shirt. I'm rocking this fit right now. Anyone else care to join me?
I wear it pretty often. Although will say that my favorite now is the long sleeve thermal undershirt under a flannel with those sleeves rolled up and the undershirt sleeves pushed up below those.
Fuck you, I wasnāt prepared to have the fact that Iām a cliche pointed out to me this early in the morning.
For me the under shirts gotta be a waffle shirtā¦ Iām fat now a days though and canāt rock the lookā¦ not flattering and I sweat
Hell yeah! I found these Carhaarrt mid-weight thermal henleys on clearance at the local farm/hardware store. It's become one of my favorite articles of clothing, and I have done the flannel - graphic tee over long sleeve thermal quite a bit.
Did you ever imagine 20 years ago your clothes would come from farm and hardware stores because I sure didnāt! š
Laughs in Costco fashion
costco is awesome. i'm finally not cold at home anymore.
I read this in an infomercial voice and it made me smile š
Kids today think Carhart is a fashion brand

I bought one of my favorite pairs of jeans at a Kroger grocery store, lmao.

bonus points if the undershirt is waffle weave

If he says one more cool thing, he's in!
I do on occasion. Love it when my husband rocks this look.
Just trying to find my chain wallet rn
Did you switch out the original chain with something more ridiculous like a dog leash or the huge plastic chains and have it long enough to go down to your knee?
Oh yeah. I was a skater kid, I needed the chain long enough to interfere with actually skateboarding.
I used to get the biggest crushes on the boys who dressed like that š I thought they were so cool!
OMG same. My HS boyfriend always dressed like that and it made him so snuggly.
I trot it out in October for a few weeks.
Hey, thatās the outfit I sent my 3 year old son to school in today. Layers baby, layers.
I rocked it on Monday during my day off. My wife looked at me and told me that Iām too old for it
Itās opening day for baseballā¦ but itās also Marchā¦ all of my baseball shirts are tees. I am rocking this look right now.
Every week! Even have a bunch of long-sleeved shirts of various colors to change it up!
I liked it. You got to wear your T-shirt with the cool design but without being cold if itās early spring or fall
I didn't wear it but I'm going to because I want to live out my dressing like a person with good musical taste dreams
the long sleeves should be waffle, but yes, quite frequently
It's one of my favorite ways to wear my sports teams t-shirts. I love this look quite frankly!
i wear a button up over a hoodie so i have a place to put my phone near my earholes.
Where is his necklace
There is a severe lack of puka shell necklaces in this picture
I should totally dig out my puka shell necklaces... I'm sure they'll look awesome on a 45-year-old!
Hemp twist or ball chain all day
Ball chain was what I had. Probably got it at Hot Topic.
Had to go re-up at the puka shell store "Hey, Mark, welcome back to your favorite shop" Yo, shut the f*ck up and put the pukas in the box "Okay, Big Mac, there's no need to be rude" I'm sorry Bob, it's the steroids, they f*ck with my mood Now put the pukas in the bag before I blow my top 'Cause me and Jose 'bout to smash back to IHOP
Yea whereās the puka
Got to be the steel ball chain.
This is the height of fashion, especially if the undershirt is stripey or a waffle weave thermal.
Yes I rock the stripey long sleeve/ short sleeve graphic tee combo all the time!
Paranoia Paranoia everyone's coming to get me...
Just say you never met meeeeā¦ Iām running underground with the moles, digging hoooolesā¦
Hear the voices in my head I swear to god it sounds like theyāre snoring

The Faculty is such a fun movie. What a wild cast!
Took one look at the image and did a double take. How haven't I seen this? Just checked the cast, and you're right. It's wild!
Fantastic movie. One of my favorite horror/thrillers
I might have just unboxed my The Faculty T-shirt today. Then reboxed it as too important to wear.
It's seriously one of my favorite movies, I'm not really sure why.
I totally still do. Although, it's usually a graphic tee.
Yep, got my Dark Crystal t-shirt on over one of those "long sleeve t-shirts" (I think there is a different name for them but I can't remember) today.
Graphic tee, under an unbuttoned button-down short sleeve semi dress shirt. That was the uniform.
The "Fred Savage look"
Yes unbuttoned was the way. Then after college same exact clothes, just buttoned up. Because I wasā¦ a grown up?
Not the clothes, but my wife overrode my decision to let my son go to school with āJosh Hartnettā hair this morning.
I don't even remember any guys having this terrible hair cut. Just Josh Hartnett. It's just so bad.
He tried but it never happened. No one was going to follow that silly ass looking dude
The dude in the back with the T-shirt and baggy jeans? Then hell yes. Does he also wear long baggy jeans shorts in the summer?
I used to love layering like that. I'm 40 now and I'd still rock that. I'm actually totally going to do that now. No joke

The Faculty
The Faculty

At age 14-15, I rocked this look with the long-sleeve shirt being green and white stripes, and the t-shirt was a green 311 shirt with an alien on it
It took an embarrassing number of years to dawn on me that this fit had been out of fashion for some time.
Still do it when itās chilly outside
My husband does :)
A tshirt over a collared button-up shirt was always my favorite. Just typing it sounds ridiculous now, but I remember thinking it looked *so cool* back then.

T-shirt over long sleeve thermal has been my mainstay forever
T over a long sleeve T? Yes. All the time. Female, didn't know it wasn't just a classic , timeless thing.
Pretty much all of 10th and 11th grade for me
9th and 10th for me, in a Tool shirt mostly. I occasionally do this today but mostly just wear flannel
I cannot wait for this to come back into style.
T-shirt over long-sleeve shirt I rock all the time. I have a flannel as well.
the shirt-on-shirt. its a fashion mainstay, dont think itll ever really go away so long as breezy, cool days exist. but that haircut though. *tsk*. might need to keep that one archived.
Iām wearing something very similar right now minus the v-neck.
I still wear the t shirt over a long sleeve. Thatās what Iām wearing right now. I also have a whole lot of plaid button downs.
I never could. A shirt within a shirt felt too constraining.
šš»āāļø
Please tell me people in their 40s aren't referring to their clothes as a "fit." That's straight up wack, yo.
That drip is lowkey fire yall ngl
My high school uniform. Still bust it out occasionally!
That was my outfit most of HS and part of college. š¤š»š¤š»
Had such a crush on Clea Duvall after this movie.
I walk around with my hand on my face 100% of the time because of this scene.
That haircut
A red t-shirt, with a grey long sleeve underneath, was one of my favorite things to wear ca 1998

Man, it rarely gets cold enough for me to rock this - but I love it
I was the camp shirt guy. Always a little stockier. Kind of felt like that one looked best on the lankier dude.
I rock the Elijah fit every day at work. Short sleeve plaid button up and khakis.
Hell yeah I rocked this in the early 2000s. Now my go-to look is something similar to Mister Frodo there.
I didn't leave the 90s the 90s left me!
I still wear what Josh Harnett here is wearing
Damn, all of high school. With the skater shoes and baggy Leviās
The ol hoodie under tshirt is an upgrade
I uses to fill my Bic pens with pixie sticks because of this movie.
i just got out of the baggy pants and shirts like 5 years ago and now its come back in style but i refuse!! I like fitting clothes!!
Occasionally Iāll tell my kids throw the short sleeve over the long sleeve if itās too short. Loved rocking that
I was super thin so I I always layered to not look so skinny.
That was the look!
Look at all you fancy folks with baller parents who could afford you more than one shirt.
Oh shit you got me lol
I dressed my GenZ kid in this style when he was little. It was really cute.
ā99-ā01 probably for me
I spy Mia Kalifa
I would, but my blood is too thick to get away with anything more than a single T-shirt out here in Southern California. I know the look basically started here but I run too hot. I can't ever wear a beanie in the snow without sweating hard.

"I wear short sleaved shirts under long sleaved shirt sleaved shirts under short sleaved shirts."
This was my uniform for about a decade.
I still wear long sleeves under tshirts. I have alot of horror and marvel tshirts and like to wear them year round.
It's come back in style, they actually sell the shirts with separate sleeves sewn in. š
Still do :)
You're too old for "fit".
I'd agree if I wasn't the proud owner of some teenagers.
Fit?

I did. I donāt anymore.

I sometimes will wrap a hoodie around my waist if I get too hot which I assume that Blonde "human" is doing.
Oh I definitely rocked that fit in high school :)
Are you trying to tell me this is out of fashion?
I feel attacked.
This is skinny people attire. Iāve been fat-ish since 2000. Fat-ish people canāt pull this look off.
My 10yr old wears that look any day itās below 70ish degrees. Only difference is he hates jeans, so he is usually wearing some track-type pants. My wife and I get a huge kick out of him dressing straight out of the 90s without realizing it.

I tried to pull off his haircut back then. Ended up looking like Lloyd Christmas. lol
I definitely did baggy and short sleeve over long. Today I'd still wear that, but everything would actually fit correctly lol.
Nope. I'd have to take off my gray hoodie, which I never do
They were so popular at one point that places would sell a shirt that was only 1 shirt but looked like a shirt over a long sleeve.
