Built in looper is all I need. A wireless foot pedal to enable it would be great.

wibzoo

Looper / pedal, USB-C and maybe a few more effects. The wireless has interference issues with WLAN, maybe improve that. Agree that the size and retro esthetic are good already.

katerlouis

What do you mean by "/ Pedal"? When they add more effects I think the editor should also improve and allow for more freedom in combining them. That being said: with more effects theres also more need for toggling them on/off, don't you think?

DirtyWork81

They will add a looper, that has been a big complaint. Can't be that hard to get one in that box.

wibzoo

Agree. I meant for the looper, but would expect it to be usable for effects as well.

arkantarded

I feel like an ir loader is what it’s really missing. Would love some drive and dist pedals options too. Oh and a looprr

Free-Combination-773

Ability to readjust default cabs of each amp. Additional knob for Comp/Drive/Dist/Fuzz.

katerlouis

Although I'd be very hesitant to add even more controls, a dynamics knob would be handy indeed.

I used THR10x for a long time and went back to all-tube amps few years ago as I had my own place again. Recently I was thinking of getting a mobile amp that I can carry around, directly looked for THRs again. On top of THR10x I could only wish for Bluetooth connection and rechargeable battery. I picked the THR30ii Wireless and I am absolutely stunned by it. I was expecting a lot, but not this much. I cannot stop playing because I am sure that they packed some valves inside of this monster. Now thinking of my wishes for the next generation… Nothing really, I cannot think of anything which will make me want to update to the „new“ version seen as this one is overwhelmingly good. I don’t see anything to improve soundwise either. This is top notch. I am satisfied.

katerlouis

I envy you. Do you switch between different presets at all and like to tweak them right on the machine? if yes, I'm surprised you are not annoyed by the fact that, without the app, you have nooo idea of the current knob positions

mr1sinister

To be honest the THR10x trained me well with tweaking the knobs without knowing where the knobs were originally positioned. But I basically found a way to make it easier for myself. From the app I set the compressor and noise gate the way I want. Then I tweak the knobs and save my presets the way I like my tones. When I grab a different guitar, I play with EQ to fine tune, but I don’t save them as I always keep em „in the middle“. I mostly play strats, that‘s why I save presets the best way possible for strats. When I grab a superstrat, I play with treble a bit for example. By the way, I remember tweaking a digital Yamaha amplifier around 17-18 years ago and I was amazed by motorised knobs. I have had never seen or heard anything like that before, and never seen those anywhere else. Found it: Yamaha DG60 amps, if you don’t know them, check them out.

DirtyWork81

A built in looper or a real effects loop is the only thing I would change.

mr1sinister

FX loop is still possible for THR30ii with AUX and phones input/output. Looper I wouldn’t need personally to be fair. But I understand of course

DirtyWork81

Yeah I am going to try that. I've heard mixed reviews on how it works.

P_a_s_g_i_t_24

* a multi-button footswitch (to change built-in presets) * choice of powered (FRFR-) cabinets for live use * effects loop * LED rings around the knobs (like on their Montage synth; instead of motorised pots) * more recognition among the rest of the guitar playing community for the well-designed, solid quality of Yamaha guitar amps in general.

katerlouis

Cant you already use the main outs to connect to a FRFR-? I'm really torn apart in terms of motorised pots vs. encoders witih LED rings; Pots do feel so much nicer than encorders. And there something to it reaching a stopping point physically. I suppose with a lot of R&D they could come up with an encoder that just feels like a pod and also features a "stopping" function. But why would they... I like your last point :D

P_a_s_g_i_t_24

Does Yamaha actually offer active (powered) THR cabinets? (that's were I was trying to go with that suggestion... I'm a bit out of the loop here...) I was never a fan of the reliability of motorized pots. A "traditional" encoder works perfectly fine for me and is easily replaceable if broken. (That's a big "IF...")

DirtyWork81

Isn't the THR when its on the FLAT setting technically an FR speaker? If you had a Dream 65' pedal for example, I think the Yamaha would just pick up the cab sims, etc. from the pedal instead of the THR's IRs and cabinets. This could actually be a very cool feature - turn it into any amp really.

Ok-Preference7368

Sound exactly like the THR10X with wireless.

tlkshowhst

Fx loop

eirinn1975

Save Guitar volume setting for each patch. Wireless pedal as a separate accessory. FX loop.

Moedeek

I want a way to choose whether or not to save the guitar and audio volume so if I'm playing along with a backing track and I change presets, the volume of each preset is what I saved it to be. I'm assuming this is a viable solution might not be.

komoriq

The relay transmitter charging only when you plug it in but discharging when you leave it too long is the dumbest fucking design choice ever.

FatsDominoPizza

Has any announcement been made? There wasn't anything at NAMM 2024 IIRC.

katerlouis

Not that I know of :( I'm honestly a bit afraid they have nothing in the making as it seems to be still selling really well?

lvidalx

I'll tell you these: - The Looper. As a practice amp this is a must have. - Effects Loop. As a practice amp this is a must have. - An OLED color display. Cut the cord from a cellphone, this shouldn't depend of a phone to set any settings. The connectivity issues make me crazy. In fact, just for that I don't use all the settings the amp offers through the amp. I hate it. - Included wireless transmitter and one that doesn't fail. - Bigger battery. - Best support and communication with the big fan base.

[deleted]

1x10 or 1x8 combo , and ofc - mini lunchbox style head.

Ok-Preference7368

THR10X IV Wireless… Same size, power, and color.

h_underachiever

The thing that has kept me from getting one of the THRII's is the app doesn't seem to have some of the options the OG THR editor has. The high cut and low cut options on the delay really allow for some tone shaping that I enjoy and I've been unsure about the THRII models because of it.

Ok-Preference7368

I much prefer the OG THR editor and my old Yamaha THR10X. The distorted sounds are “beefier” and better. My THR30 II pales in comparison despite me tweaking the heck out of it. The only advantage of the THR 30II is the wireless capability, and being able to use a foot switch.
