Less every day. Many streaming services have ended support and the menu system is archaic. The ATV2 resolution is capped at 720p and ATV3 at 1080p. AirPlay, I guess.
Put it this way: I’m struggling to think of anything you can do with those ATV’s that you can’t do better with an entry level Roku or Amazon Fire.
I wrote an iptv player app for apple tv3 devices (may work for 2 cant test). If you have an always on server or a rapsberry pi laying around you can try it. No need to jail break your device, installation is similar to plex connect. https://github.com/ghokun/appletv3-iptv

Btw. u/Ghokun do you have a guide for the windows setup and does it work on windows 10 32 bit?
When i try to execute the downloaded file it says i should find a version working for my windows.
Also the github guide is for linux.
I guess I will try to set it up via Linux at some point.

Now I'll just have to set up a http server and maybe find an auto m3u generator for my downloaded files.
Also I'll check the apple computer share and see if that works
This is incredible! Apple TV 3 is more of a brick than ATV2. Many thanks for this work. I like the DNS trick. Many of the functioning ATV3 apps are useless to me anyway with Red Bull perhaps the very bottom.

I have a three in the mail currently and yeah I also have a raspberry pi just laying around so I may try it if I get bored
hmm ok seems quite smart, so i can download a movie, serve it on my iptv server and access it via this app? sounds like worth trying out

I am sure HD and 4K will be more brick too in the future. :(
I really wished someone would jailbreak these old ATVs' (new/lat)est firmwares so they can be usable more than AirPlay.
