I enjoy all types of music, with a greater emphasis on the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and early 2010s Linkin Park was my favorite band as a kid. My brother and I were heartbroken when Chester passed I feel like you'd enjoy a lot of other bands if you like LP or BMTH. Step out of your comfort zone for a bit, and see what you like Personal recommendation: go and check out The Hives, those Swedes have kicked ass with every album they've released - the song [Hate To Say I Told You So](https://youtu.be/Uz1Jwyxd4tE?feature=shared) from their 2000 album "Veni Vidi Vicious" is a good introduction to this awesome band

marvinsroom1956

I enjoy british rock/ blues like pink floyd, Dire Straits( the greatest rock band ever), Eric Clapton, Peter Green. Kpop , i am a big fan of Gfriend,Twice and Taeyeon I also love sad Indie like Mitski she is my favourite singer and composer ever,Flower Face, Fletcher. And at last Oasis (90's british pop) and country music.

gamepasscore

You damn right on Dire Straits. I don't see them talked about enough. What's your favourite song by them?

marvinsroom1956

Telegraph Road

marvinsroom1956

But that's a difficult question they have a lot of great songs Romeo and Juliet, Brothers in Arms, The Man's Too Strong, Why Worry?, Your Latest Trick, etc...

gamepasscore

I know, it's hard lol. I love Telegraph Road too, 15 incredible minutes. My personal favourite is So Far Away

friedbrice

> The Floyd :-p

LingLingDesNibelung

Peter Green? As in THE legendary Peter Green??? If so, you have fantastic taste!!! What’s your favourite work of his?

marvinsroom1956

Yes THE Peter Green My favourite work of his is It's Gonna Be Me

LingLingDesNibelung

Fantastic! I like his work with Fleetwood Mac, which I struggle to talk about with the average person because everyone seems to only know Rumours, which in my opinion is a terrible album compared to the rawness of those early recordings made by Peter Green, Danny Kerwan, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie as a blues band.

marvinsroom1956

I agree with you Rumours is ok but Fleetwood Mac ( 1968) and Kiln House are my favourite Fleetwood Mac records

autistic_bard444

all sorts of stuff is cool. but i started on metal in the mid 80s and never looked back since. melodic death metal is sooooo awesome

Fluffysnek111

You might enjoy Asking Alexandria, Beartooth, Bullet for my Valentine and Bad Omens. Curated playlists and the recommend feature on spotify are usually pretty good for finding artists similar to what you already love, without getting too far out of your comfort zone. I'm mostly into metal myself, can't even remember how old I was when I got into it now. Around 8-10. My playlists had a lot of linkin park when I was your age.

Batwhiskers

I FUCKKNG LOVE FALL OUT BOY!!! My special interest is my chemical romance though :3 I get you about not listening to other bands it took me a while to listen to anything other than mcr and fob. Now I really like pop too though

Skydreamer6

As with comic books, I made it my mission to "get to know" all of the major players in the rock world, and get to know the "classic albums".

Electricdragongaming

Solid choices in music. I used to love Linkin Park when I was your age, I still kinda do. Nowadays my tastes tend to lean towards 90s Grunge Rock (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains), but I'll still occasionally listen to a little bit of pop and hip hop.

braywarshawsky

OP, You say you want to discover new stuff, but don't want to leave your comfort zone? Kinda confusing dude. You like harder rock? I mean I could just throw out a few examples that might get you intersted... but mine are different, kinda punky at times, and sometimes runs into folk, pop, and some good 'ol surf pop punk. See what you think of the following bands with some songs that I like, hit me up if you want other suggestions. \* Social Distortion - Story of my life \* Sublime - 40 oz to Freedom \*Rage Against The Macine - Wake Up \*Rise Against - Give It All \*Tool - Fear Inoculum \*Weezer - Say It Ain't So \*Nirvana - In Bloom \*Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta \*The Presidents of The United States of America - Peaches \*Cake - The Distance \*Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies Hope you like 'em. If not... disregard.

Thescottish_bendyfan

I like a mix of genres: Music i like: Nirvana, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns n Roses, Motörhead, Metallica, Tenacious D, Queen, Iggy pop, Oasis, The Proclaimers, Primal Scream, Green Day, Journey, Radiohead, The White stripes, INXS, Beastie boys, Eminem, Lady gaga, N.W.A, 2pac, Robbie Williams, Saxon, Yungblud, Aerosmith, Billie Eilish, Calvin Harris, David Bowie, Avicii And David guetta Just realised most of this is probably rock/metal lmao

soldier_donkey

I used to listen to only band that I knew almost everything about, but now I just limit myself to liking at least 3 of their songs and knowing where the band is from before listening. Metal is kind of my special interest so here's my playlist: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0w3rPxAyi0ep56OqPafjAW?si=95304552e0b241a6](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0w3rPxAyi0ep56OqPafjAW?si=95304552e0b241a6)

RainCactus2763

I can’t identify genres too well but I know my favourite band is a rock band, I have a massive hyperfixation on the band Måneskin

clicktrackh3art

This is essentially how I enjoy music, and have enjoyed music for the last 30yrs. It drives anyone in my life nuts, cos they get so sick of the artist in obsessed with. And I sometimes have a hard time like chatting about the bands with other fans, cos I literally just listen to that band. My music knowledge is a super deep in some areas, about some artists, but alarmingly lacking in other areas. It’s definitely weird, and can only really be understood through being a special interest. But it’s weird, when I find an artist I I connect with (currently it’s sleep token, but also creeper, and my longest running special interest IAMX) I have this weird discomfort with listening to anything else. Like I block where I just can’t do it. And yeah, I need to know about the band, and like the whole bit. I have a ton of merch and vinyl, but of like 10 artists. Anyhow, I’ve been like this since I was your age, and it has not changed. I’m 46, with 3 kids, and I spent my morning freaking out about a set list of a concert in going to next week. Honestly, I normally enjoy my relationship with music, but right now, it’s kinda annoying me that it’s taking up so much brain space when I need to do actual stuff. But I digress.

Edgeblessed

If you don’t mind some heavier topics and screamo I love motionless in white. The lead singer is actually just such a nice dude at least from his social media presence.

Shenloanne

Power metal. Blind guardian, iced earth, 3 inches of blood, rhapsody of fire.

PKblaze

Rock and metal are my go to. Try out some Mammoth WVH sometime :)

TristanTheRobloxian3

i (16nb) dont even have a fav genre lmao. the only thing i really dont like is the majority of songs with lyrics unless it adds to the overall feel of the song itself if that makes sense. other than that im open to practically anything

braywarshawsky

You should check out the post rock band, "We Lost the Sea" if you like music without lyrics. Generally any Post rock bands that go hard. I also like "Explosions in the Sky", "godspeed you black emperor!", and "Mogwai".

Lucky_Ad3338

Definitely metal.. your bands mentioned as well as (consulting playlists for band names because I can never remember them!) Falling in Reverse, I Prevail, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Shinedown... I like the deep growling music and some of the vocals, and that pulsing loud dynamic music, that most definitely one of my major stims!

tornyt1

My favorites are Slayer, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Megadeth, and Gojira! Rock and metal are so diverse you really can't go wrong. From Iron Maiden to Foo Fighters to BABYMETAL there's almost always gonna be something to your taste

yosi_yosi

Oh I like jazz, breakcore, and some dnb/jungle

perfectlyGoodInk

When I was a teenager, I had a very complex system of rating rock/pop albums based on how much I liked various songs I'd heard from them, and I also religiously listened to the Top 40 countdown so I could score songs based on how high they charted and how long they were on the charts. So, I guess it is a special interest of mine as well, and I'm also learning to play guitar, drums, bass, and synthesizers. My favorite genres are progressive rock, classic rock, pop, jazz, country, hip hop, psytrance, blues, folk. My favorite artists include Tool, Radiohead, Rush, Alan Jackson, Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, Dar Williams, Pinetop Perkins, Holly Williams, Infected Mushroom, Shawn Colvin, Brad Paisley, Bill Evans, 2Pac, Miranda Lambert, Pink Floyd, Journey, Boston, Peter Gabriel, Jason Isbell, Kate Bush, Kacey Musgraves, Opeth, Feeder, etc.

EccentricExplorer87

I listened to Metallica every day from about 6th grade through sophomore year of college. Every. Day.

rusztypipes

Metal is very niche because you can find similar bands with similar styles from all over the world, there are probably dozens of albums from bands no one remembers that you would enjoy.

GingerSuperPower

Buying music on Bandcamp is my main way to really consume music, but I’m quite a bit older than you. Music was still expensive when I was 15, and I work in the industry, so thank you for spending $$ on artistry, it means a lot!!

insofarincogneato

I'm a musical chameleon. I listen to all kinds of music and play guitar, bass, banjo, piano, drums and dulcimer.   I play metal, country, folk, blues, jazz and hip-hop. I guess music is my special interest but I never considered it before I'd love for you to branch out and try more music. The cool thing about leaving your comfort zone with music is that you can literally just turn it off if you don't like it friend👍

friedbrice

Fall Out Boy's pretty cool. You wanna really blow your mind out your ears? Next time you go to sleep, put on "The Who Tommy Full Album." Listen to it in the liminal state between sleep and awake. Do it. It's worth it. Trust me. I'm a doctor.

friedbrice

oh! listen to Jesus and Mary Chain, and My Bloody Valentine!

kewpiesriracha

2023 summer was the summer of Fall Out Boy for me. I got so obsessed and was worried I would lose out on seeing them, so I booked a ticket to see them in Atlanta... the festival got cancelled a few days after I booked nonrefundable tickets. I was a mess. But I rerouted my flight to Disneyland California instead, for my birthday. My partner's gift to me was a Cameo from Oli Sykes from Bring Me the Horizon wishing me happy birthday! A few months later FOB announced their new album and I was one of the first to see them live as I bagged their tickets to 'an intimate show' in London and also to their signing and Q&A. It was a dream come true. On my birthday after that I went to their back-to-back shows. I'm glad I have a partner who indulges in my special interests. Currently I'm obsessed with Bad Omens, who opened for BMTH last time I saw them. I love listening to new rock music, but like you I stick to one band or album at a time and get really obsessed. Linkin Park is my all time favourite band. I'm lucky I got to see them before... You know. 💔

The_child_of_Nyx

Fall out boys are great 😌

The_child_of_Nyx

I almost exclusively listen to Hollywood undead and power wolf (sometimes sabaton, venom&opal in sky but not as much) I do listen to other things when I don't want to listen to any of the above but not so often

OriandBenny

I’ve been a die heart rock fan since I could remember. I grew up with my dad who went through the 80’s hair bands and the Beatles. Personally, I’m into Motionless in White, Bring Me the Horizon, Slipknot, and Breaking Benjamin. It’s understandable about not wanting to leave your comfort zone. When I was 15, I was the same way. Have you ever listened to random rock/metal songs from other bands? It’s helped me to expand my music tastes.

ninjakirby1969

My special interest is music in general. Every genre has something great to offer and I love both really easy to listen, simple music and abrasive, experimental stuff. My favourites are swans and the microphones but recently I've been obsessed with xiu xiu and earl sweatshirt

[deleted]

I‘m into Satriani

Chaos_On_Standbi

Set It Off (at least their stuff before 2023) is pretty similar sounding to Fall Out Boy, if you want to give them a go.

LingLingDesNibelung

I’m big into a lot of 90’s British bands at the moment (Oasis, The Verve, Radiohead, Blue etc)

ApprehensiveCost4749

i dont think its a special interest, u just like this type of music.
