D-Day squadron of C-47s/DC-3s making their way to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of the landings. That's all brother, Placid Lassie, D-Day doll, forget the fourth one. I think there are some smaller single engines with them as well.
Correction, the looks like the squadron consists of Ready 4 Duty, Sprit of Douglas, and Western Airlines, in addition to the other two, D-Day Doll is from somewhere else, not part of the squadron.
"D-Day Doll" is a C-53 Skytrooper. She's based at the CAF of Riverside, CA. Unfortunately she won't go in Normandy this year.
Edit: If you're interested, on the 6th at 10 am the Commemorative Air Force Inland Empire Wing will be honoring WWII Veterans. On June 8th they will have their museum open, Re-enactors of WWII Paratroopers who jumped into Normandy, and rides on the "D-Day Doll" who flew three flights over D-Day Doll To Normandy.
Lol I'm all the way across the country! Placid Lassie is about an hour from me here in New York, she's been my "hometown" warbird for all my life, but I love hearing about the activity.
This is the link with the information, you'll have to buy a ride, it will help to support the "Dol":

Have a great WE!
That’s all brother was the first over the beach during wwii! Almost got scrapped after the war before someone looked up the war record of it and realized they had some real history
It was truly amazing. Got to meet a few of the paratroopers that jumped on D-Day, that was the best part. What an honor, they actually thanked us for remembering them., I was speechless..
Official range is 1500-1650 miles depending on variant, but with light load, max fuel and so on that can be stretched a bit. Nova Scotia to Iceland is just barely in that bubble. Reful there then pop down to Scotland before continuing to London
Yeah.
Another option (just as ballsy) is flying eastern Canada then due north to Nuuk in Greenland (1100 miles from St. John's) then to Reykjavik (900 miles)
Four DC-3s, a Beech 18, a T-6 and a Ryan flew from Oxford, down the Hudson on the west side of Manhattan and back to Oxford today.
I snapped these from my apartment in Manhattan.

None are bombers. DC-3s and looks like a Beech 18 escorted by T-6 Texans. Here is the official page for the D-Day Squadron, kicking off their 80th anniversary flight to Europe today: [Events | D-Day Squadron (ddaysquadron.org)](https://www.ddaysquadron.org/events)
There's no replacement for the DC-3.
Aircraft just aren't built with that set of capabilities any more.
They're a damn good aircraft and I wouldn't be surprised if they're flying for another 80 years

Do you know if the rides on the D day doll are free?

Fantastic - I was there for the 75th, Thats all Brother and DDay doll were there. We jumped into Normandy with 7 in total.
That’s all brother was the first over the beach during wwii! Almost got scrapped after the war before someone looked up the war record of it and realized they had some real history
It was one of the only birds fitted with radar at the time. It lead the way!
Now that's fuckin cool
“We jumped into Normandy with 7 in total.” Can you explain what this sentence means?
Sure, we did a reenactment of the d-day invasion. 220 of us. Parachuted into Normandy
That’s nuts. What a cool thing to be a part of. Thanks for the follow up.
[This](https://youtu.be/fySWO_51SUY?si=3W0WPvu5k35dohPg) was us
Must have been so surreal, 220 is a full blown invasion.
It was truly amazing. Got to meet a few of the paratroopers that jumped on D-Day, that was the best part. What an honor, they actually thanked us for remembering them., I was speechless..
Did you have better luck with landing where you were supposed to than the boys back in the day?
💯
That confused me for a minute, but then I remembered an actual D-Day veteran would be around 100yo or more, doubt they'd be on reddit lol
They were headed to Oxford, CT for an event. https://www.ddaysquadron.org/event-details/d-day-squadron-2024-legacy-tour-public-day
Operation Overlord
Man I can't wait for my annual "Band of Brothers" rewatch
CURRAHEE
3 MILES UP, 3 MILES DOWN!
Hi-ho Silver!!!
We salute the rank, not the man.
I like Spaghetti

*sigh*... FINE, 8th goddamn time.
Been trying to find something to watch this past week and have to keep telling myself "no BoB, it's only been a couple months."
If you haven't seen it, Masters of the Air is pretty good.
Pink Dawn
A majority are DC3s/C47s. Like the other person said, they’re making their way towards Europe for the D-Day anniversary
That’s crazy. I didn’t know they had the range
Oh it’s not nonstop ahaha they are making multiple stops along the way https://www.ddaysquadron.org/2024-legacy-tour#
Official range is 1500-1650 miles depending on variant, but with light load, max fuel and so on that can be stretched a bit. Nova Scotia to Iceland is just barely in that bubble. Reful there then pop down to Scotland before continuing to London
That takes some balls in WW2 planes.
Yeah. Another option (just as ballsy) is flying eastern Canada then due north to Nuuk in Greenland (1100 miles from St. John's) then to Reykjavik (900 miles)
P-51 on the left, P-47 on the right.
You’re being invaded
😭😭🙏🙏
Tots and pears!
I was gonna ask you OP if you travelled back in time or something
This looks great if you're French Bad if you're German
I think the German are happy that they got rid of Hitler.
That's so fkin cool!

Sick photo dude
I believe there was a bunch of vintage ww2 bombers making their way to Europe to commemorate D Day.
That’s sick, thanks for finding it. Are you going to the event?
Nope I am on the other side of the country. Just a warbird enthusiast tracking their progress!
They were in Atlanta last week. Probably an AT-11 among them too
It blows my mind how many DC-3s/C47s are still flying, let alone the rarer military planes. Those airframes are ancient now.
There's no replacement for the DC-3. Aircraft just aren't built with that set of capabilities any more. They're a damn good aircraft and I wouldn't be surprised if they're flying for another 80 years
Heard a story of Band of Brothers actors going to re anact jump at D Day.
RED DAWN
WOLVERINES!
This is southern England, circa 1940
Nah 1940 was black and white
I was flying down the Hudson when they came down, then I saw and heard them over fly Laguardia before heading east.
Saw them from the roof of my office as they were flying past, thought I was hallucinating at first. I hope someone got some good photos.
I was told by a surviving German WWII soldier that once you heard the particular whine of a P51 that you might as well plan your surrender.
Shut those damn kids up next time. They make it hard to hear all the radials.
I mean, this is how you get future aviation nerds.
Ser did you travel back in time?
Lil trip to the ardennses circa 44
Couple grandpa's just shat their pants big time...
That's the Rhode Island Air Force (RIAF.) They're annexing Mystic.
The last thing you want to see if you're a German on guard on June 5th-6th, 1944
they're called planes
Aircraft flying in a formation.
Invasion force of time travelers
Got lost on their way to Normandy a little while ago.
One question? Do you happen to be at the beach in France?
ww3
Invasion! Run! If you are zee Germans...
Airplanes
WW2 re-enactment?
After utilizing the scientific method to come up with a hypothesis and eventually a conclusion, I've determined that those are warplanes.
They are going to retake France.
The last thing a lot of Nazi's saw back in the 1940's.
Red Dawn
You are being invaded.
Tora Tora Tora
A Time Machine
I was in Fairfield today! What time was this?! 🤦🏼♂️ Dang I’d have loved to have seen this.
At like 3ish o’clock, insanely loud in person
Hey cool! I saw them fly down the Hudson in NYC. Not sure why though.
Looks like a bunch of pterodactyls
A lot of money, lol amazing!
Flew over me in the city today, super super cool
It's freaking awesome, is what it is!
WWIII welcome! Operation "God's finger"
An invasion
Oh I saw those DC3s over Peachtree-Dekalb over the weekend
It's zee allies mein herr!
I saw them too! Pulled into a parking lot and zoomed in as much as I could to get a pic. It was great to watch them fly!
Airplanes?
WWIII training....
Saw these twice today flying out of Oxford Airport. Came over my house really low the first time.
Awesome vid thanks mate👍👍👍

Aircrafts. Fairly common here on Earth nowadays.
It's awesome, that's what it is.
sounds like that kid wants to fight them. awesome. another anarchist. bless :')
They look like Planes.
https://wpdh.com/wwii-plane-over-walkway/
They are C-47’s so that matches up. Not sure what the “little friends” were?
It’s kicking off, go stock up on toilet paper!
1944
Red Dawn. Find the local school. Gather supplies.
Thems those air O planes, Paw.
https://imgur.com/a/xcxe8jW On the golf channel this morning
I have a very special gift of identifying airplanes. Those are airplanes
Does anyone know if they are trackable via Adsbexchange? I would love to track their progress..
They were in NY too so don't worry
That is so cool. Booked a flight on a similar DC3 from Caen on June 1st. (https://dutchdakota.nl/en/about-the-dda/ph-pba/)
A bunch of DC 3s probably some sort of historical airshow
If you Google adsb exchange, it is a website that will show you transponder info from aircraft in your area.
My grandfather was a paratrooper. Pretty cool to see all of this! I know nothing about planes or even the history but still fascinating nonetheless
C-47's, Dakotas, DC3's, Gooney Birds. Probably rehearsing for the 80th anniversary of the 6 June 1944 D-Day, invasion of northern Europe.
Fuck I’m in FF I wish I saw that
I picture this with [Ride of the Valkyries](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGU1P6lBW6Q) playing in the background.
Planes, for sure.
di-di-di-did you see the frightened ones?
Classic Pink Floyd
Russians attacking us!! Take cover
Watch out for falling bombs.
Ultra rare C-17, C-130, and CV-22 flyover.
