Following. I'd be happy with zero drop and a wide toe box but haven't been able to find anything.

Jim Green! They make a barefoot version of their African Ranger boots. Great quality, super durable, full leather, can be easily resoled.

Mountaineering is gonna be kind of rough, I havent seen really any barefoot/wide toe options. I can vouch for the Lems Boulder Summit, my mountain hiking boot. Cushion, solid in snow, all leather, works well with Microspikes. But I dont think it will fit proper crampons that you might need on some big mountains. Personally I was looking around for ski boots and just gave up. Some sports are still stuck on narrow toe boxes for now :(

My first generation Dynafit Hoji’s have a wide toe box, tour uphill great/light and lock in solid for the down. Loved the shit out of them the first two seasons. The negative is lots of people have problems with the fit around the ankles, specifically inside, which started bothering me randomly after a 100+ days in them. Boot fitters, punching them more myself - nothing really helped and going to try to find something for next season.

Vivobarefoot Tracker ESC worked great with microspikes but I don't know that I would be able to use them with proper crampons. My understanding is for mountaineering the stiffness of the shoe is pretty important but I'm fairly inexperienced.

My two cents: my crampons fit my Lems Boulder Summits like a glove.

Oh that’s dope! Which ones did you use?

Do they get really hot in the summer?

aaabballo

Yeah, its a full leather and waterproof boot. I'd say tolerable up to 70F in the bare sun. We'll still have some snow on the mountains (+7000ft) here in California in the summer, and in that environment the boot isnt hot.
