Topwater is the best, once it's on in the summer that's all I toss! Nice hog
Shoot, I can't even wait until summer. As soon as the water temps are hitting high 50s or low 60s I'll at least attempt to get a fish to bite topwater. That's how much I love this technique.

Where at in MD? Northern part of the state I would imagine
Monocacy River which is north-ish I guess.

There was a gentleman on a jonboat who went further ahead of me up river and he said he caught an 18 and 19 incher on back-to-back casts.
Damn, that’s awesome to know it’s a healthy smallie factory.
Nothing better than working a top water lure across the lake that is smooth as glass, and all of a sudden a huge smallmouth smashes it.
