I can appreciate a Batman that doesn’t kill bad guys, but if he does, no Batman does it better than Affleck lol.
I’d love to see him in a stand alone film.
Batman with his resources and his martial art skills and his extraordinary **will** and also his **Plans**. He always plans for everything and if all of his plans runs out, he still don't give up.
Had this idea for years, it’s so damn obvious. Throw in a “Joker has taken over Arkham” and it’s all a trap for the villains gallery to finally kill him, Batman rejects help from the Batfamily and they end up saving him etc, maybe BatFleck dies and it’s a perfect send off
I think I fancied the Deathstroke casting instead of Joker in DCEU.
Would have loved to see [Affleck go against Joe.](https://scontent.fpnq13-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/165515049_264487955231261_1002310885753608268_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c2f564&_nc_ohc=_o4hrdrXYREAX_gbZeQ&_nc_ht=scontent.fpnq13-1.fna&oh=00_AfCC2b2hEeEZe9F7WjDiCqlGN-RobMwZTZFBK77hrCV0HA&oe=660E0FF5)
Dafoe is not the first person I think of for a "perfect Joker" but for Batfleck he very much fits. Older Batman, older Joker. Same immovable object and unstoppable force.
Not to us from St. Olaf, MN. She's on our Prized Hog statue in the center of town! The Knutson's raised the hog, it was such a wild beast, ran all over town. We made it our mascot!
Yes, absolutely. Batfleck looking at the trashed Robin costume from the dead Dick Grayson who we never got to even see was a slap in the fucking face. Fuck whoever thought that was a good idea.
it was shorthand for why batman went psycho. i assume its also why joker had metal teeth. batman probably beat his face into a puddle for killing robin. i really wanted more about that. even if it was purely hindsight and flashback post meeting superman setting him back on track
> i assume its also why joker had metal teeth. batman probably beat his face into a puddle for killing robin.
I don't think that was the case... in Suicide Squad (2016) he already had the metal grills when he met Harley at the Asylum... and that was years before Robin was killed (they state in the movie that Harley helped kill him). Something tells me the teeth were just a weird misguided stylistic choice, with no real thought behind them other than wanting their take on Joker to stand out, seriously Leto Joker's design just screams "confused attempt to modernize the character "to me.
did they make that clear? i missed that. i know they wanted the instagram cartel vibe for him but it made sense to me his teeth were all knocked out. thats less cool to me now which is to say the only thing i liked is ruined
It ain't right! Thank you, friend. Last time we saw Robin on the big screen he was being thawed out by George Clooney, and I was WAY less insulted by that iteration. AT LEAST HE EXISTED. I mean, Holy rusted metal, Batman!
EDIT: Forgot about John "Robin" Blake, but I mean...come on. John the Cop had an Easter egg. Still better than what BvS did.
I remember being 21/22 years old, sitting in the theater watching The Dark Knight Rises, and hearing that receptionist/clerical worker telling Blake that he should go by his first name and thinking, “holy shit, that’s so cool.” I recently rewatched TDKR for the umpteenth time and that part just made me *groan*. *Give me a theatrical Dick Grayson, Warner Bros. **YOU COWARDS.***
Zack Snyder, being Zack Snyder, decided to declare the dead Robin to be [Dick Grayson](https://movieweb.com/robin-fate-snyderverse-reveal/), apparently for no other reason than to piss off fans of Dick Grayson. See also: Zack Snyder on Jimmy Olsen.
> See also: Zack Snyder on Jimmy Olsen.
See also, also: Zack Snyder on Jonathan Kent (lol tornado kill), ZS on Mercy Graves (kill her off for no reason), ZS on Lex Luthor (make him Riddler Lite for no reason), ZS on Wonder Woman (make her abandon humanity for 100 years), ZS on Superman (kill him off in the second movie for no real reason and oh he won't act like Superman until like the sixth movie), ZS on Batman (turn him into the Punisher because I said so), ZS on Martian Manhunter (make him hide all this time instead of help and oh look he's Clark's mom too)...
Why did WB let that man near any of their characters, I'll NEVER know...
God damn. Snyderverse was such trash, and the fanboys are still crying to restore it. Hopefully Gunn will actually respect the characters. And give us good stories.
I always liked the theory that the joker is actually dead. He tortured and almost killed robin but let him live or he survived and went insane. Thats why he has tattoos and a fake grill cuz he got crow barred and tortured and he feels Batman failed him? So he’s become the new joker after the original is killed. Thats why he’s so in your face with that crap.
Not great, but a good way to explain having those tattoos.
Of course. That universe is a victim of WB rushing things. It would have benefited greatly from fleshing things out with a solo Batman and Wonder Woman film before any team ups.
This. This right here, this is what should have happened: a solo Batman flick co-directed by Paul Dini and Batfleck with screenplay by Dini and cinematography by Larry Fong (Batman vs Superman).
That scene of Batman vs Superman where the cops going down into the cellars to search for kindapped victims and they come face to face with Batfleck, that was exactly the vibe we needed!
It wouldn't have worked in any way.... Dini has a very specific approach to the characters and tone of his stories and I'm afraid his style doesn't fit with Zack Snyder's at all.
Basically the Snyderverse, outside of aesthetics, is not worth a damn to adapt source material unless said material is by Moore Miller or King, because Snyder without darkness, anguish theatricality and depression seems not to know how to build his universe.
He did not get the credit or love he deserved as Batman. That warehouse scene is live action Arkham Batman. Just terrifying and a fuckin powerhouse. He has the look down and we deserved more.
This is the best live action Batman fight scene there is imho. Uses gadgets, improvises, moves like a ninja but still brutalizes his opponents, fights multiple opponents at once. Peak Batman action
Doesn't get credit or love? Mate, just search Batfleck posts in this sub. The Batfleck circlejerk is insane. That warehouse fight is doing a lot of heavy lifting for what was a pretty stupid Batman.
He had the opportunity to do a solo movie. He didn't want to do it. It's unfortunate for him that BvS and Justice League sucked. We can move on.
Yeah. A lot of Batman fans like him but he also gets a lot of hate too. And the general populace doesn't rally behind him like they blindly do with Keaton.
His movie was in limbo for ages due to writing and not finding a director. Not only his fault. He got the extremely short end of a shitty stick. Even in the Flash, he was sadly given a sad project.
Mate, if you think the warehouse scene alone is why people like him, then you need to get your eye checked cuz clearly you ain’t right. Maybe have a cold one too.
Ben Affleck was my favourite of the live action Batmans. The movies were flawed. But that gritty, genius, Machiavellian conception of the character is my favourite version of Batman.
Wildly hot take, but some of my favorite Batman moments are Affleck in The Flash. Which is just mind blowing to me how much fucking potential was there, to really nail every aspect of Batman, and was so misused. I’m so excited for SUPERMAN but I will mourne Batfleck.
Batfleck is my favorite live-action Batman too, he was one of the best parts of these movies. On a visual level he looked taken straight out of a comic book both as Bruce and as Batman. The murderous aspects felt wrong but everything else was great, the Batmobile, the car, Alfred, the gadgets, the combat, his physical size, that man was a beast on all levels.
Not counting Keaton in The Flash, Ben is also the only movie Batman so far who's actually a proper part of a wider DC world. The other movie Batmen are always off in their own little thing, Ben's the only one to have met Superman and Wonder Woman and formed the Justice League with them, he lives in a world where metahumans are common. That's one of the coolest things about him, the interconected comic booky crossover shit I like. Though it kinda felt wasted of a concept since the DCEU was overall not good, hopefully the DCU will be better and we'll have a Batman that's not entirely grounded in realism again...
His actions scenes in "Batman v. Superman" were the best parts of the film. I would have enjoyed seeing what could have been done in a dedicated Batfleck movie.
It’s interesting that everyone here seems to have forgotten the fact that there was a solo Batfleck movie in the works, but Affleck himself decided to kill it. It’s not like a reddit post is going to magically make him go back in time and reverse his decision.
He wasn't the one who killed it. He bowed out of directing because starring, writing, and directing was becoming too much on a property this big. He tried to meet in the middle with WB, they then started the search for a director and loved Matt Reeves enough that they dropped Afflecks version.
The early talks involved Matt potentially directing the Deathstroke-based film with Ben, but Matt really wanted his own world to work in.
I am almost convinced that they should give any JL Batman the Hulk treatment. We don’t need any origin or setup story to understand his motivation. I’ve watched the animated JL movies and we didn’t even need a backstory to Batman. We don’t need to figure out how Battinson can deal with Superman if his version is not part of the JL. Battfleck worked for JL, for better or worse. Did it affect any of the previous and current Batman stories? No. In fact, we have such a rich and diverse source of content coming for us as Bat-fans.
I think the JL Batman should just be self contained that way. Like Hulk will never have his own stand alone movie and that’s just fine.
Um that's not fine especially when MCU hulk is one of the weakest parts of the films not really having anything for himself.
He barely has any screen time and all of his character development happens off screen lol.
The main problem with Batfleck is that his physical and visual characterization was impeccable....but the writing was horrible. Snyder wanted the Batman for Dark Knight Return and he forgot that this Batman only works in Dark Knight Return...
He is a practically villainous Batman whose way of crossing Sups is very forced to recreate Miller's comic.
it’s not often you get an actor that’s as passionate about the source material as affleck was/is. wb/dc fucking wasted some of the best casting you could ever want.
No. He was a terrible Bruce. There was nothing even remotely interesting about this version of Batman. Him having the Arkham games stunt coordinator for one scene does not make him interesting.
Give that stunt coordinator their own Batman movie.
Exactly. These people fell in love with one warehouse scene that ends with Batman shooting a gas tank and killing someone. Absolutely terrible portrayal
.
bravo. he really is a poor Batman, appraised only for a fight sequence. terrible. never, ever Batman would be hiding behind a police car, scared shitless before Superman. that single scene throws the warehouse sequence through the window.
Batfleck's Alfred is a hundred times a better Batman than batfleck.
.
Need to stress I'm not a Snyder weirdo, but I almost certainly would have liked an Affleck directed Batman movie more than I liked The Batman. (I liked The Batman but I did not love it)
Batfleck is my favourite Batman. He’s the only one who captured the duality right, the only one who had the size and presence, the only one that captured the rage.
If it wasn’t for the hive mind saying “affleck bad” this would have been more successful. The zak Snyder universe was incredible and way better than anything James Gunn has done so far. His suicide squad was terrible.
Yes, if for no other reason than Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
I also would have loved to see a more brutal Batman, maybe a descent film, showing how we got from caped crusader to literally branding criminals. That warehouse fight alone sold me on the idea.
He was given a solo film. Ben was going to write, direct, and star in it but he pulled out because wearing the costume was too tiring. He said he couldn’t act and direct.
100% yes bro his first scene as Batman is everything Batman an old battle-hardened had to be. Someone once said something like "if you can't imagine Batman comforting a child you have written a shitty punisher". ANd in his first scene a child says the devil saved and to me it felt like the child felt safe and the criminal felt fear.
Fucking waste that money rushed that movie out. We want more Batfleck. We want more Patman too, but Batfleck was vicious, brutal, gruesome and terrifying.
Do you recall the first time you saw Batman sprawled out in the *upper* corner of that room waiting to attack whoever next walked in? That scene got me high.
Do you recall when you heard his voice modulator enact the image Gotham must have of their terrifying protector?
Do you recall watching Bruce pump actual iron in his underground dojo?
Keaton’s Batman fucked with a crazy clown gangster, Bale’s Batman allowed a clinical drug lord to terrorize his hometown, had to use corrupt NSA tech to take down 1 anarchist, and walked into a trap laid by a sexy lady.
Affleck’a Batman clings to the ceiling, brands his worst in silent alliance with prisoners behind bars to continue his justice where he cannot, destroyed a warehouse full of bad men with machine guns, and stood up to a Demi-God to be sure of his morals.
Fuck DC for such a tease.
That warehouse fight scene was still the best Batman live action fight scene we got to date. Straight out of an Arkham game.
So yeah, I want a Batfleck stand alone movie.
I think all of the main cast of Justice League should of gotten a movie first like a stand alone film. So yes Ben Affleck should of gotten a solo movie and same goes for everyone else. But DC wanted that Avengers money sadly.
I would love to see a good Batman movie starring him. Doesn’t even have to be related to the Snyderverse. I just think he makes a great Bruce Wayne/Batman. When Affleck is older, he would make a wonderful old Bruce Wayne for a Batman Beyond movie.
Absolutely. He was one of the best parts of the terrible BvS. We got some of him in Snyder Cut but he didn’t do much. If he got his solo movie after Man of Steel then did a crossover later, it would’ve benefit Batman’s character for sure
Honestly yeah. I was just so turned off by the batman vs Superman thing but Affleck wasn’t a bad Batman at all and there’s no denying the dude can fucking act
Yes. A bunch of nerds said he was a shit batman and tanked anything he touched in the suit, but he was arguably the better at playing Bruce Wayne than most.
Insecure people do be like that. But no, I actually watched every Synderverse project, even the Syndercut. There is almost nothing of value being lost here, and their Batman is especially terrible.
I'm not sure. I don't really like the xenophobic Batman that Zack Snyder gave us, but I think Ben Affleck had the potential to be the best version of Batman we would see. In order for it to work, it needed to happen as the Snyderverse started imploding and we were getting almost "retcons" of the characters even within the franchise. Giving Bat-fleck an almost clean start could have made for a great Batman movie.
Or it could have been a disaster.
And the Battinson movie was borne out of the failure to get the Batfleck solo movie off the ground. So, if the Batfleck movie happened, the Battinson movie wouldn't have. And I don't think it would be worth sacrificing that movie on the chance that the solo Batfleck movie wasn't going to be awful.
So, my verdict is no.
I'm glad it didn't happen.
I think most would agree he deserved a film to deeply explore the character.
It’s also true the studio tried. Things went poorly, Affleck had a part of in the project not happening. We can’t wholly blame some DC execs for this one.
He was a terrifying beast, I'd love to see more of him.
I can appreciate a Batman that doesn’t kill bad guys, but if he does, no Batman does it better than Affleck lol. I’d love to see him in a stand alone film.
His batman, more than keaton’s, is closet to frank miller’s “the dark knight returns”.
Well he is wearing the 'fat bat' emblem, kind points straight at Miller's Batman as a reference.
Snyder based Affleck off this comics, I heard somewhere it was the only one he read.
Batman with his resources and his martial art skills and his extraordinary **will** and also his **Plans**. He always plans for everything and if all of his plans runs out, he still don't give up.
100%. Best part of the DCU
He has the best ass kicking beatdown scene of any Batman
Yes. An Affleck Batman movie set inside Arkham Aslyum based on Serious House Serious Earth. Take my money.
I would watch the hell out of that
Had this idea for years, it’s so damn obvious. Throw in a “Joker has taken over Arkham” and it’s all a trap for the villains gallery to finally kill him, Batman rejects help from the Batfamily and they end up saving him etc, maybe BatFleck dies and it’s a perfect send off
A batman version of Dredd in Arkham would be sick.
"And as for you Joker....vengeance time"
Remember they doubted him when he was announced and the film wasn't even released. Now they miss him
nah i’m actually quite happy with Pattinson
💯%
Yeah except not with Jared Leto as joker.
I think I fancied the Deathstroke casting instead of Joker in DCEU. Who would you prefer as Joker?
Willem Dafoe is my pick
Yes. It's everyone's pick.
Dafoe is not the first person I think of for a "perfect Joker" but for Batfleck he very much fits. Older Batman, older Joker. Same immovable object and unstoppable force.
I would take Betty White over Leto, fuck that guy
Betty White is a gem! I’d love to see her as the joker. Can you imagine lol
She can be older Harley Quinn to Wilem Defoes older joker. I can already hear the "oh puddin'"
**was*
Not to us from St. Olaf, MN. She's on our Prized Hog statue in the center of town! The Knutson's raised the hog, it was such a wild beast, ran all over town. We made it our mascot!
Pauly Shore
“Easy. We wheeze the Batman, buuuuuddy”
20 or 30 years ago it would have been Dennis Quaid for me.
. i think 30 years ago Dennis Quaid could be a perfect cast for Hal Jordan .
20 years ago mark hamill would have made a fantastic joker
Not that clown fo sho! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Well yeah. I’m just curious who people would like to see as the joker opposite Batffleck
Dwight Yoakam.
He's a great director. His recent many movies have been great.
So The Raid: Redemption meets Batman maybe?
Fuck that's good.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with this vendetta.

They’re afraid to give us Dick!
We’ve been begging for them to give us Dick for years!
Did they come out and say it was Dick? I thought it was Jason since there's a lot more lore on his suit being shrined up and all that.

Likely because they didn't want to get into multiple Robins at all.

I would not be in direct opposition to this. Very interesting question.

Kinda ruins the whole epilogue of justice is gray too considering what a massive cliffhanger that is and now we’re not getting a continuation of that.
Of course. That universe is a victim of WB rushing things. It would have benefited greatly from fleshing things out with a solo Batman and Wonder Woman film before any team ups.
The WB executives wanted the Justice League money sooner. Couldn't be sure they would be in the job long enough to wait.
Dream film is Batfleck, written by Paul Dini. Batfleck can direct if he wants to.
We aren't lucky enough to have the kind of heart and brutal action that combo would bear on screen

Omg of course he deserved a solo film
100%
Yes
Yes. Affleck is a fantastic writer and director. WB should have just trusted him
His actions scenes in "Batman v. Superman" were the best parts of the film. I would have enjoyed seeing what could have been done in a dedicated Batfleck movie.
Yes. Absolutely. Best live action as BATMAN.
Fun fact: Kevin Conroy actually said Affleck was his favorite live action Batman
It’s interesting that everyone here seems to have forgotten the fact that there was a solo Batfleck movie in the works, but Affleck himself decided to kill it. It’s not like a reddit post is going to magically make him go back in time and reverse his decision.

I was looking forward to the Batman vs Deathstroke movie they were trying to set up.
Yes. Zero questions
Thought Affleck was good as the character. They should've given him a standalone.
Batfleck is my favourite Batman. He’s the only one who captured the duality right, the only one who had the size and presence, the only one that captured the rage.
I mean kinda of. I just wish they would’ve committed is all.
Yes I would have liked to see a full trilogy of this Batman
Yes ! If he was told he would get a solo film , possibly writing and directing as well, then most certainly he should have got a solo film!
Yep
Yes
if they fixed the whole batman kills issue is batman v superman yes
It's a damn shame he never did. Easily the most imposing batman, I want more of that.
10000%
Absolutely
Could have, would have, should have.
DC fucking can suck a dick for ruining stellar casting.
Yes. He is still the perfect batman and bruce wayne to me. If not for the stinky writing on some parts
Yep
1000000% He should have! Especially if it was the story that was being talked about with Deathstroke hunting him
Yes he was a monster. I had hoped for him to have his own movie but WB keeps rebooting the DC universe.
Hell yeah. He's one of the best movie Batmen and it's such a punch to the dick to see his film get canned.
If it wasn’t for the hive mind saying “affleck bad” this would have been more successful. The zak Snyder universe was incredible and way better than anything James Gunn has done so far. His suicide squad was terrible.
It's kind of ridiculous that he didn't
yes. the one Ben Affleck was going to write and direct.
I would love a comic version
Hell yes.
He was the best Batman before Patterson joined the ranks, so yeah absolutely
Yes zach fucking ruined it and i will die on this hill
Absolutely
Yes, if for no other reason than Jeremy Irons as Alfred. I also would have loved to see a more brutal Batman, maybe a descent film, showing how we got from caped crusader to literally branding criminals. That warehouse fight alone sold me on the idea.
Absolutely, my favorite live action Batman.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. I didn't like BvS, but he was probably the best part of it. I think he was wasted on a rushed cinematic universe.
100%
Yes, at least one.
Best batman
I wanted this so bad especially since Deathstroke was gonna be in it.
Affleck might have been the best Batman. Affleck actually was a kid who read the comics growing up. It’s a damn shame WB screwed him over.
The closest we got was the Accountant. Which was great. I would 100% want one.
Yes. He should’ve absolutely got his movie
Put simply: yes
Yes. Affleck was great.
Yes
Yes. In fact, he was originally slated to star in *the Batman* before things changed & Pattinson took the role
Yes
Batman vs. Terminator starting Batfleck
Yes even though they did him dirty on the Flash
Yes. Snyder is a garbage writer but with a better writer he could've been the best
More that any other character and certainly more deserving then WW84
Yes. Affleck was robbed. Yes, he left mostly on his own, but Whedon fucked him up.
Yes. But Snyder screwed that up.
100%. That ass-beating scene in the warehouse was chef’s kiss.
Yes.
He was given a solo film. Ben was going to write, direct, and star in it but he pulled out because wearing the costume was too tiring. He said he couldn’t act and direct.
Yes
A batman without jokes please.
Yes.
Absolutely! He would have been great with a little bit better direction, and a much better script! IIRC, Kevin Smith had one lined up
Yeah. I think it would have been pretty good. Trouble is, we would only have gotten the one.
Duh
Yes. Unequivocally yes lol
Yes
Hell yess
Shoulda, could, woulda but it simply wasn't meant to be. It is what it is.
That warehouse fight scene was still the best Batman live action fight scene we got to date. Straight out of an Arkham game. So yeah, I want a Batfleck stand alone movie.
He wrote a script for one, I believe.
Absolutely everyone I know was beyond excited to see afflec and deathstroke go at it. I think DC producers missed the mark on that one
I think all of the main cast of Justice League should of gotten a movie first like a stand alone film. So yes Ben Affleck should of gotten a solo movie and same goes for everyone else. But DC wanted that Avengers money sadly.
Yes, and we were supposed to get a fight vs Deathstroke, too.
Hard yes.
They should have done stand alone movies for all of them before the justice league one.
Who doesn’t?
Yes
Fock yesss,
Yes
Fuck yes, yes please, yea. I wish it could still happen. Yesh
Yes. A bunch of nerds said he was a shit batman and tanked anything he touched in the suit, but he was arguably the better at playing Bruce Wayne than most.
No. Everything about that whole universe was more than enough. Moving on.
No? Burn the Snyderverse to the ground
Yeah what’s with all these people trying to be apologetic about it now
Some people actually liked it, but most who did were insufferable bro-douches.
Yeah I had one just throw a hissy fit ha. They will defend this shit to their graves and attack anyone who doesn’t have the same opinion
Insecure people do be like that. But no, I actually watched every Synderverse project, even the Syndercut. There is almost nothing of value being lost here, and their Batman is especially terrible.
it's over
Nah. He was a terrible Batman.
. i concur, and saying this is reddit suicide so i upvote you .
I’ll tell you this: if there’s one thing I think I haven’t been asked this question nearly often enough
This has to be the lowest of the low effort posts. Cant wait to see how this question is worded tomorrow.
I think most would agree he deserved a film to deeply explore the character. It’s also true the studio tried. Things went poorly, Affleck had a part of in the project not happening. We can’t wholly blame some DC execs for this one.
Fuck no.
No
Yes
No thanks
Eh, I couldn't stand him as Batman. He just seemed like someone's dad cosplaying and it looked really lame.
It would have been a disaster and damaged the Batman brand so no
Nope.
It would have been shit given every other thing the dceu sprayed all in its jeans
How many hundred million dollars for a movie that most people aren’t interested in paying to see?
He would have fit “The Batman” better than Robert I think
He was a lead in those trainwrecks of Batman v Superman and Justice League. It's understandable why he hasn't gotten a solo movie.
Nope, didn’t like his old Batman who is actually a murderer
