I remember Greg Cook and Bob Johnson. Booby Clark and Isaac Curtis. Lamar Parrish and Bob Trumpy. Mike Reid and his piano. Horst Muhlman and his lieder hosen!
College roommate.
I grew up in Cincy, been a football fan since I was 9. However, as a kid, I felt that my (extended) family members were pretty toxic Bengals fans. They were pretty negative and didn't make watching the Bengals fun (we were also terrible). As a kid, I didn't quite understand the emotional devastation that sports teams can wreck upon a person. My favorite teams were based on my favorite players: LT, Mike Vick, etc. Patrick Willis was my favorite for most of my teens. And too be clear... I'm kind of a contrarian; when a team gets good, I hop off the bandwagon. So I've never cheered for the Patriots, the Colts, or the Packers during the late 00s, early 10s.
Then I went to college. The Bengals had just drafted AJ Green and Andy Dalton. So it was easy to start cheering for 2 rookies who were playing well and likeable. My college roommate, one of my best friends, made watching the Bengals enjoyable. I've been a loyal Bengals fan since 2011.
Bingo! Bengo!
Dad’s side of the family was from Columbus. At the age of 7 if you ask a kid to pick a team in Ohio, and his only choices are Tigers or Turds…
WHODEY THINK IM GON PICK?!?!?!????!!!
THEM BENGALS!!!!
I lived right off of UC's campus when they went to the Super Bowl in 2022. Wasn't into football, but it got me interested, and now I'm obsessed. I know that makes me sound like a bandwagon, but I'm gonna stick around when things inevitably get rough in the future (hopefully not anytime soon).
I grew up in Cincinnati in the 80’s but was a kid and didn’t really care much, even in the 88 Super Bowl. It wasn’t until Corey Dillon started wrecking fools in the late 90’s that I really started paying attention and getting invested.
My fandom survived a move to South Florida and the 2015 playoff collapse and subsequent bad Marvin years after that.
My Dad and Grandpa were Bengals fans but I didn't get a chance to know them before they passed. So when I started watching football around 2005 in my early teens I was originally gonna root for the Packers but swapped to the Bengals cause that's who they rooted for and also I'm from the Dayton area so that made it possible for me to see most the games on TV.
I went to a private school in 1st grade and we would mingle with the older middle school kids and they had Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer jerseys and cards and I wanted to be a cool kid like them. Been a fan since 05
My dad was a lifelong fan. He went to both superbowls vs the 9ers. As a kid I thought the tiger team was cool, now here I am having my entire mood dictated by outcomes
I grew up in a military family. My parents were born and raised in Cincinnati. I moved around so much that I didn’t have anywhere to set roots but my dad always rooted for the Bengals and Reds. That was the one consistent for me.
Lived in cincy my whole life but never cared about sports as a kid. In 2021 I joined my friends fantasy league cause they needed more people. I ended up getting really into fantasy, and really into football, and that was the year the bengals won their first playoff game in however many years it was. And now here I am
Canadian so I didn't have a team to grow up with. Decided in or around 2005 to pick a team and get into the NFL. It was a choice between Eagle's and Bengals since I always loved RBs and my two favourites were Brian Westbrook & Rudi Johnson. Ended up picking the Bengals since I like going for an underdog/ a team that I didn't see many or anyone else cheer for. Imy favourite animal is also a tiger so it was the perfect fit.
No team is ever going to compare to my home town Flames, it is what it is but I'm also a loyal fan so I bleed orange and black when it comes to NFL.
A witch cursed my dad and uncles and the curse gets passed down the bloodline.
In all seriousness my dad grew up in the area and when I started watching football it was either root for the local Redskins or watch Bengals games with my dad and uncle.
Born in 1989 in Louisiana, never was that interested in football while growing up and would typically just hope the team playing against w/e team my dad was cheering for would win because I was a little shit.
In the mid 90’s I’d guess he handed me a catalog with footballs designed around all the different teams and told me to pick one for him to order so I picked the bengals because tigers were cool and orange and black were my favorite colors. I never ended up getting into football back then till around 2007 and even then I wasn’t able to reliably start watching till about when Dalton came in and I remember being pissed at the way Palmer left us lol.
Anyways now with the Burrow-LSU connection it’s less weird for me to be a bengals fan from Louisiana at least but it never stopped me before when asked if I was from Ohio when I wore my Ochocinco jersey. Can add in it was a major pain in the ass to get this old classic when I was visiting Ohio back in Jan? 2010, I realize now it’s because I was visiting too far north but back then I was shocked I couldn’t find it in any of the sports stores in the malls.

Grew up in Cleveland. When I started to get into football, there was no Cleveland football team to root for. Rooting for Baltimore or Pittsburgh wasn't an option because my family are Browns fans so decided to keep my loyalty in ohio.
My grandpa was an inaugural season ticket holder up until he retired in the mid 90's, my parents had season tickets from 1977 until last year. My dad and grandpa were at both super bowls and my parents were even at the freezer bowl. I had no choice, not that I would choose it any other way. Who Dey.
Born in Va but moved to Cincy as an an infant and was raised there with my 2 Cincy born brothers. First discovered football in 1978 and been a Bengals fan since. Stuck with them through the good and the bad (90s).
WHO DEY!
I grew up a Colts fan but watched Tyler Eifert play against my high school. Knew he was a stud and so when Bengals drafted him in 2013 (I was 12) I became a fan rooting for him.
Please do not downvote me. I became a fan when Joe joined the team, but not because of the winning.
A bit of a long story, so bear with me.
I wasn’t a fan of football until 2019, when I met my ex, who introduced me to LSU football and the Saints. While we dated, the Saints became my team because it was his team and I didn’t care enough to try for another team at the time. At the same time, he got me into LSU football, and that was the year they won the championship against Clemson.
After we broke up, I dropped all interests I had developed while I dated him, and figured I would return to the ones I still liked. Football was one of the only interests I returned to, but I refused to cheer for the Saints, because that was my ex’s team. I still liked Joe Burrow from when I watched LSU games, so I cheered for Cincy because that’s where Joe Burrow went.
Funnily enough when I was really little I used to have Madden 2005. No one in my family was really a football fan so I picked the Bengals to play as strictly because I thought their uniforms are really cool. I live in Columbus, so seven year old me just so happened to pick the team I’m “in market” for given where I live.
Born in Cincy, raised in the tristate up until I was 26. I had a cat that looked like a tiger as a kid and my mind was blown when I found out the local football team my grandpa rooted for was a tiger. So here I am
So I wanted to start following the NFL for years but never had time to properly sit down and get the basic rules. Come 2021, I was like, lemme check whats happening in the league, it was playof time, I had no idea what teams are good so I decided to choose my team based on the best looking colors of the helmet. For me it was definitely Bengals. The rest of the story everybody knows. We went to superbowl that year, I stayed awake until 5 am because I live in Europe, got my heart broken and still recovering from it.
From Akron originally but could never be a browns fan, preferred Bengals Colors/Mascot/ the fact that they had some actually exciting offensive players like Ochocinco/Aj Green to watch, plus I liked the fact they were still in Ohio so I could keep my homer status lol.
I was six or maybe 7 years old. I was sitting in the upstairs TV room with my dad and he was drinking a Mickey's and watching a football game. It was the Bengals versus the Oilers, and the Bengals won. So I figured, I'm going to be a Bengals fan cuz they won the first football game I ever paid attention to.
This was a good plan until 1991 or so.
born in Baltimore (i know) but went to college in cincy and worked for the bengals during the super bowl run. you cannot possibly work for a team during a super bowl run and not fully convert. now cincy is my forever home and my forever team
Canadian fan who just got into Football. I first hitched my fandom to Watson and the Texans and once that went off the rails I saw Joey B smoking that victory cigar at LSU and knew he was the one.
LISAN AL GAIB!
Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI (Packers Country) in the 90s. But growing up in MKE, everyone had a basement bar, and my grandparents were no different. My Grandpa had a sweet collection of NFL mugs/cups and I gravitated immediately towards the Bengals cup. Loved the helmet, design, etc. As I grew to learn the game of football, the Bengals were my always go-to (I LOVED Corey Dillon). I had to go through some rough years in Wisconsin as I watched Da Pack win every year (and a couple SBs W's too), but am thankful I stuck with the Bengals because it kept me humble. I travel to Cincy every year for a game. So I may be a Cheesehead by birth, but I'm a Bengals fan by choice. Who Dey!
Moved to southern Indiana just as the patriots came into power (18 years of pain and left when the wins started) so never got to celebrate with others. 14 years between games until...
I Fell in love with the Bengals after a friend brought me to the Denver Monday night game in 2014. The tailgating, the fans, the atmosphere, and playing in the elements reminded me of home a bit.
Bought season tickets for 2015 and was in attendance and will never forget Jeremy Hill giving that game away. The pain and anguish of ripping defeat from the Jaws of victory.... Reminded me of years back home of Boston teams always finding away to mess it up.
Been a STH since, owner of a cincy tattoo, and enjoy spending my Sundays with all you crazies!
I didn’t grow up in Cincy. But I’m going to visit it one day. But my first memory watch football was watching Boomer and Bengals. I bet my dad a dollar that they would win the game. I was totally invested in the game. They won! I’ve followed and been a fan since.
Lived 15 minutes from the training camp in Georgetown, KY. Uncle took me for the first time in 2005 as a 12 year old after I'd rooted for Cowboys and Jets and I never looked back
2001 because I liked the uniforms in Madden. In Southern California we had no team so I was a free agent. Plus Carson Palmer went to USC and Chad blew up so I have been hooked ever since.
I’m not even American, I was born in Colombia and I didn’t understand American football at all but my husband is a huuuuge football fan and he got me into football. Since I’m from Colombia (no football team), grew up in Florida ( dolphins ew) and live in Houston ( until last year Texans were horrible) I got to pick whatever team I wanted and became a fan during the bengals Super Bowl, much to the annoyance of my bf, a Vikings fan.
My Dad bought the family tickets starting in 1974. 4 row 50 yard line in old Riverfront Stadium. I watched Kenny Anderson (who should be in the Hall of Fame IMO) effectively and efficiently throw bb’s to Isaac Curtis and Bob Trumpy, while being protected by Anthony Muñoz and Max Montoya Who Dey’ing all the way to the Super Bowl. In fact, I was right there at the 2nd Ice Bowl (-56 below zero, my Pops even let me have sip of his Hot Toddy).
Fast-forward to Boomer and Sam Wyche slinging the ball in the no-huddle or handing the ball off to Ickey or James Brooks on their way to another Super Bowl.
My Dad, my brother and I love sports, football in particular. Those Sundays in the Fall were awesome and some of the best male bonding experiences of my past.
Grew up in Cincinnati.. when I was a kid my dad had taken me to meet Carl Pickens at his townhome (my father was a maintenance worker at the time) dude answered the door and was so fucking kind to me. Gave me all sorts of stuff and even game worn gloves.
Been a bengals fan ever since.

I hadn’t seen a playoff win until I was a man and by then it meant everything to me.
Lifelong LSU fan. Burrow, Chase, Moss. Nuff said.
Are you me?
Bro said moss lmao
At first I was thinking “Zack Moss didn’t go to LSU”.. Talking about Thaddeus?
Yeah I think so. Dude had a cup of coffee here lol
Yes, Thaddeus.
Same
Boomer, Ickey, Brooks, Fulcher. And honestly the helmets. Best helmet in all of football.

When I was little I thought the tiger was the coolest mascot and used my allowance to buy a hat…..been loyal ever since.

I was born in 1983 in Ashland Kentucky and that was that.
Because they're my local team, and because my Mom, Dad and brother are all Bengals fans, so I decided to be one too.
