If you don't already have some significant savings, don't do it. It's incredibly expensive to rent a full house, maybe look at PG or towards Fort St Johns. Lots of jobs in northwestern bc but good luck finding a rental with a garage.
no better place in Canada to actually live IMO. Sure things can be pricey but they can be cheap too. For example you can rent trailers with garages for very reasonable money. Then have tons of things to do recreationally like sledding, dirt biking, sxs/atrv, skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, paddle boarding, wake surfing, water skiing, shooting, hunting right out your back door. All with some of the best weather in Canada. In the Okanagan which has a high demand for heavy duty mechanics, in March/April/May you can do everything I listed on the same damn day! It's a 4 season play ground.
you have been here before? Just compare the webcams of Big White [https://www.bigwhite.com/mountain-conditions/webcams](https://www.bigwhite.com/mountain-conditions/webcams) with Blue mountain. [https://www.bluemountain.ca/mountain/webcams](https://www.bluemountain.ca/mountain/webcams) This is a crappy year snow wise we and still over 2 meters in our hills around here. There is still some awesome back country sledding, snow biking and skiing happening.
Fort St. John for ya
You may like Kamloops. A few mines nearby. Tons of outdoor activities. Tough to find good rentals but not impossible

Teck pays around 54/hr for heavy duty mechanics in their mines here in BC.

Welcome brother.
BC will break you...don't even bother. Too many people there anyway

If you care about weather for the outdoors stuff, in the Okanagan you a LOT less snow than Ontario and a LOT less rain than the coastal BC cities.

Right, great snow at the ski resorts, a lot less snow to deal with when hiking etc in the valley itself.
