75? That's one way to keep company from visiting.

musicnothing

Is that hot or cold. I live in Arizona so I’m not sure what reality is

AudieCowboy

Hot. I'm from Texas and 67 is what I keep it at when I can.

jorjor1727

I’m from Texas and my parents keep it at 78. It’s at 85 when no one’s home, except for the dog. I get in trouble if I set it any lower, because our AC has frozen before.

[deleted]

[удалено]

weaver_of_cloth

It's also a volume problem. If they got too small of an AC, that would also lead to freezing coils. Seen it happen all over the south.

jeffsterlive

That’s true, I had the opposite problem once, it was oversized so the humidity never really dropped. Just cold and clammy inside. I love my dual stage carrier. Electric bills are so much lower and the humidity is properly controlled. Can set thermostat higher than usual and still be comfy. Dry warm air is better than cold humid air.

jorjor1727

They’ve probably already considered that, but it’s expensive and the AC came with the house, which is older than me, and I’m 17.

jeffsterlive

Man 78 in Texas if you’re anywhere near the coast is miserable. Houston without air conditioning is miserable. I mean, to be fair, it’s miserable WITH ac,

jorjor1727

Meh, I’ve gotten used to it. I just have the fans on medium speed most of the time, and sometimes I even require a blanket because I’m actually cold.

jeffsterlive

That’s actually good, I envy your ability to adapt.

AudieCowboy

My ac used to always freeze up and it was the worst

Kimsnothere

I'm from Florida and 75-78 sounds like a perfectly good degree choice because 67 is sooooo cold, I feel like you would need a jacket inside!

DaGeek247

Don't let those frigid people confuse you. 78 or bust

ninetymph

Who hurt you?

DaGeek247

I'm one of the crazies that likes the 115+ heat of Arizona. Ac at 78 means there's always a breeze but also I can walk around in my underwear and not feel cold. Its the at rest but still warm temperature.

OtherPlayers

Same, as someone who doesn’t live in the best insulated building either I’m busy thinking about how I don’t even know if my thermostat goes below 73 or so for the majority of the year.

NoahTall1134

75? You're a monster!

whatknot2

Oh are you one of those 73 freaks? Sir, I don’t know you, where you live or how big you are but I am coming over to fuck you up this very instant!!!

NoahTall1134

68

[deleted]

This is the correct temperature

Hufa123

Nah. Of course it varies from person to person, but for most people (at least where I live) it should be somewhere between 15 and 20.

jeremyrotar

Found the Canadian 🇨🇦

Hufa123

Sweden actually

jeremyrotar

Damn... We're metric-connected. Have a great day from Canada!

JapiePapie

I mean most of the world is metric connected, have a great day from the Netherlands!

ScientistSanTa

And my axe.. I mean and great day from belgium

jeremyrotar

I know this, it was a hopeful assumption. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

pslydel

Have a great day, from Australia

sgt_dismas

They say Sweden but they really live in a very warm freezer.

Hufa123

What do you mean?

Hufa123

You too

Teddetheo

Swedish gäng

[deleted]

I’m the Canadian. I like and even 70 degrees inside. Outside 20 degrees is nice. Yes I’m one of those Canadians who uses F inside and C outside.

jeremyrotar

Windsorite? At least a border citizen? edit: I use F in the summer and C in the winter. We're a confused bunch.

[deleted]

Border citizen in BC. Could get gas in the states and be back in 30 mins.

heroicintrusion

Monster.

TerrorFister

Don't get those mixed up, might end terribly!

Sophion

F inside and C outside? That's even more horrible than Americans using cups and thinking it's a reasonable form of measurement.

Robthebold

You mean non-American, non-Burmese, non-Liberian.

Esnardoo

I can't tell if you mean Celsius or that it's cold

attcxhfdhjbcswZgjjvg

Yea this could have been like literally hundreds of other countries

gormystar

As an Australian, 20-25 is fine by me, not to expensive and winter temperatures, I wouldn't mind lower but prices are too much for me

SadisticJake

20-25? As an American, that sounds cold.

gormystar

Well, in fahrenheit it is, however in Celsius it's fairly middle of the line from my understanding, in spite of it being considered winter temperatures in my parts

Qwsdxcbjking

That is hot weather sir, formerly and sincerely, random English man. Thank you and sorry.

gormystar

While I am jealous of that perspective, it is simply perspective as that is also a winter's day, hell, if it goes below 20 during the day you know your in for a hell of a cold night and it could get as low as 13c

FacelessPoet

As a filipino that still sounds cold

Vakieh

Aussie here as well - 20 is the perfect temperature. 19 is too cold, 21 is too hot. Can be different if you are spending a lot of time outside where you'd want hotter in winter and colder in summer, but, well, lately that hasn't been an issue.

DaoMuShin

not in college. 69 is the perfect dorm degree

[deleted]

Nice

Cazreal

Nice

Bjornskov

Actually is 180 degrees....

Socrtea5e

I see what you did there.

Ramble21_Gaming

No, 69. Not only is it correct, it’s also nice.

LetMeDieAlreadyFuck

The hell is wrong with you people? 72 is the correct answer if you dont wanna freeze or melt

[deleted]

I grew up at 76, then my fiancé and I moved in together and she showed me the ways of 68 (sometimes 67 too). Now 76 feels like the bowels of hell.

The-1st-One

I grew up in Minnesota, poor. And 62 was the norm. (It was cold in the winter) my wife and I do 68 or 70. Then when she was pregnant during the winter. It was at 85. I almost died. Thankfully the baby lived and we're back to 68(ish).

healerdan

I've acclimated to Minnesota now. Thermostat is set to 55 at night. The house holds the heat, and I'm in blankets anyway. Boiler kicks on to a toasty 68 at 530a, but it actually flywheels up to 73 cause it's a 100 year old boiler, and the thermostat is jank.

taz5963

Mine is 69.

Chairish

Yes at maximum. Who can sleep at 75?? I’d be roasting.

BarbaricEric420-69

I like 68 during the day and 69 at night

metroidfan220

Yes, but what about the temperature?

homtanksreddit

69. I live my memes

whatknot2

68???? Do you have to wear the Russian fur hat with floppy ears too?

Throthelheim

Listen some of us run hot. I also keep mine at 68 at night. Otherwise I wake up in pool of sweat

lustindarkness

I use a noice 69° at night.

Throthelheim

I used to do that but then my girlfriend broke up with me...

StormBlssed

In the words of Zuko… That’s rough buddy.

SilverStryfe

72 day, 64 night. 75 yesterday in the house felt like a damn oven.

zjleblanc

I would be unable to wake up in a pool of sweat because I never went to sleep if it's even 70. 68 is the max that the wife and I have agreed on. I could go lower though.

Throthelheim

Same here but my power bill wouldn't agree down here in the South

zjleblanc

Yea, mine ain't too happy in Louisiana. That factored into the 68 agreement.

downbyhaybay

What are these numbers!? Aren’t you almost literally boiling at 75? I sleep at 17.5C

EidolonPaladin

That's 63.5° F for our imperial cousins.

gormystar

Mmm, I'm happy around 20-25, but those are also Winter temperatures for me, honestly anything is better than humidity

cli_jockey

Amen to that, humidity is the worst.

TangentOutlet

I would still be hot at 68 F. I set it to 62F. The pipes will freeze before I feel cold. Do you people wear clothing in your home or just run around naked with the heat blasting?

NoahTall1134

Women of a certain age require cooler temperatures.

Nikkian42

Of a certain age? I’m in my 30s and prefer 60 degrees (F) at night and a few blankets.

whatknot2

30 is certain

Kethred

Not even half way through life, and suddenly you're a "certain age". Feelsbadman

TangentOutlet

A couple hundred years ago, you were a woman over forty without a husband and children, you were a witch. A 40yr old female was believed to need magic or a pact with the devil to continue to exist without a man or child. Drowning and burning feels bad man.

Capable_Vast8655

Your last sentence begs the question... Talking from experience? Also, good piece of info there!

cli_jockey

I'm the same way, I usually don't go above 68 during the day and kept it 58-60 at night. First time my wife stayed over when we were dating I think she thought I was a serial killer. We settled on 66 at night and 70 during the day lol

christobeers

This is the way

ba-single-mom

Team 68!!!

rkaniminew

Off by 1

thisisme1202

69.

SHoppe715

At 68 you still owe them one

i_drink_petrol

55f here in the UK plz

glittertongue

71 or lower

[deleted]

65 my guy... you trying mimic outside?

chipmunk7000

65 or colder. House is 62 during the day in the winter and 60 at night Summer time; the good window A/C unit goes in the bedroom and we keep the door closed to get it cold at night. Probably still put that in our room for the summer once we get central air, so we don’t have to cool the whole house that cold (not feeling like installing some motorized damper system for zones)

slammer592

73? Who the hell sets it to 73? It's 68 or 72!

tee142002

72 when I'm awake, 70 when I got to bed. 75 is like living ngin a sauna.

ElPapo131

Right? I feel like I'm going to melt when it's 34 outside in Summer. The parents must be crazy

ikeme84

Yeah, 21-22 is more than enough.

jesusmanman

70-72. My dad kept it at 64 in the winter, and had a window AC unit in his bedroom only in the summer.

swankpoppy

You made of money?!

[deleted]

Don’t touch the thermostat

[deleted]

Hey, mekko, my thing just went off. Your thermostat okay?

The_Broad

Hey, is my kid over here?!

[deleted]

[удалено]

ultinateplayer

Set it to 21 BUT it's only on for a couple of hours morning and a couple in the evening, and only if the temperature is 17 or lower. At the minute, we don't actually have it on in the evening because it's not cold enough. But it's nice to have it warm for morning shower.

ddmf

Yeah that early morning hot boost is great for showering. I had a perfect timer/thermostat agenda set in my last place, the thermostat I have here is awful - no timer. I actually forgot to turn it off this morning so the heating has been on all day, thankfully only to 18 degrees. It's been about 15/16 degrees when I get home usually.

gormystar

That's winter temperatures, I'm happy at 23 most days, anything beats the 30s outside in autumn

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatOneWeirdName

I’ll happily take walks in 0 degrees in a t-shirt but inside it should preferably be ~22. As soon at it hits 25 though? It’s just a gradual decrease in overall function, 27 is basically impossible to sleep in and, I 100% agree, 30 is hell

ddmf

Haha I'm the same, I'll start thinking about putting a jacket on around 8 degrees. Over 25 and I'm a hot mess.

Koker93

75??!? Have you lost your mind?? Do you sweat all night??

whatknot2

I swear all night yes, what does my teretz symptom have to do with anything?

DENelson83

You won't survive a temperature of 75, though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JWM1115

You will if you live in the desert. I keep my hvac set at 78-80 degrees F year around. When it’s 120 F in the summer it’s 40 degrees cooler than outside. When it is winter it is about 30 degrees warmer than outside. Consistency is the key to comfort.

Valkorghin

At least it's not 90. Those people are squares. Although, they would be right.

AlmostButNotQuit

Well, that's one angle...

qinshihuang_420

OP has acute joke

Funnnn_at_parties

Sorry I'm obtuse, what was the joke?

Marco9711

Underrated comment

__b_e_e__

75??? nonono, 69 is the best, and i'm not saying that because of the number, it's just the perfect temperature. How do you not die at that temp???

whatknot2

In all honestly I live in Florida so it’s all relative mate

Canidaego

Anyone who scoffs at 75 hasn't seen an electric bill in Florida during the summer...

[deleted]

This whole time I thought we were talking about furnace temp, not A/C

h0p3ofAMBE

Yep, only 3 countries in the world use Fahrenheit

Futch1

Reddit being based in one of them, I can see where F might be common on this platform.

h0p3ofAMBE

Doesn't matter where it's based, it's about the users on the platform

Futch1

I don’t know why we’re both getting downvotes for this tiny discussion. LOL! Reddit man.. I did also think that most of the user base was also American. I know Reddit has become way more global over the years, I just wasn’t sure how much. Also - huge fan of metric over imperial and wish everyone would just pick 1 (metric obviously). It makes my work life 10X more complicated to always be converting tiny numbers for tolerances etc. On a positive note, I guess it keeps my brain sharp. 🤦🏼‍♂️

DarthLlamaV

Physicists *frozen

Funnion3245

68° when the heat is on...72° when the a/c is on

immortalreploid

This is the correct answer.

lone_Ghatak

>Honestly her mom and I always did 75 at night This could've been soooooooooo much better if you put 69 here....

Paraxom

I grew up with 81 in the summers and 68 in winter...75 is perfectly fine for me

[deleted]

That’s weird she always chooses 69 when I’m around.

sagtaukou

19 in the day 16 at night, mind I am near winterpeg.

Shibboleeth

My roommates are at opposites of the thermostat, she wants it at fucking 90 or some shit but "let's us slide" with 78. He wants it at 73 or lower. I've tried to compromise at 75, but keep finding it set to 76 and wind up being hot because of it. We've told her repeatedly to put on more clothes if she's cold because it's easier to heat her up than cool us off. She just kvetches that she "can't" put on more clothes. Woman, you are wearing god damn shorts and a tank top. You can sure as hell put on a t-shirt and jeans.

cli_jockey

Start stripping your clothes off in protest lol. As I tell people, I love the cold because I can keep putting on more layers if needed. While when I'm hot I can only take off so many until I end up in jail.

Shibboleeth

Our AC is currently broke. I wound up end my briefs and not else the other day. She was perfectly ok with this. Of course we're a like Bohemian about things anyways.

SHoppe715

Real talk. Who says turn the AC up when they want it colder versus who says turn it down when they want it colder. Heat is easy: heat up = warmer / heat down = cooler. AC though….AC up = cooler / AC down = warmer. Or is it the other way around because we’re still talking about the thermostat temp setting?? Stop and think about it for a while. Which way do you say it and why?

Story-Checks-Out

Bruh, this has always bothered me!

SHoppe715

I’m not your bruh, buddy.

Squidgie1

I'm not your buddy, pal.

SHoppe715

I’m not your pal, guy.

Story-Checks-Out

I’m not your guy, friend!

rdbcruzer

69, 70 if I'm feeling generous when it's cold, 75 when it's hot.

Mister_Jacobz

Y'all are super weird, just use the Celsius scale

whatknot2

So unfunny comment from me. I am an immigrant in the US. Which means that I measure everything in Celsius, including outdoor temperature and my phone setting is C. However, INDOOR is always Fahrenheit. Fuck me if I know why

TheBerlinWaller

~~what~~ why knot?

whatknot2

I dunno… probably something to do with thermostats not being very sophisticated instruments and you can’t switch the as easily to C

z0mb1e87

Unless C thermostats have tenths of degrees they're not precise enough for me. Yes, I can quickly tell when the temperature is out if my comfort zone by 1 degree F.

whatknot2

This would be a fantastic superpower for a crappy spinoff of a spin-off of a marvel comic - Fahrenheit, the human thermometer

[deleted]

They def do have tenths of degrees, I recall seeing 6,9 one time

Mark7116

75??? What kind of reptiles are you? 68-70 year round.

whatknot2

Whoah Whoah we don’t talk about that on Reddit. We are NOT reptiles from outer space we definitely are humans

etherealredrooster

76 in summer, 68 in winter

ba_cam

75 in the summer, 68 in the winter

[deleted]

I literally didn't want to find this funny but I couldn't stop myself. Well done, in other words.

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNwiqDGz5g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNwiqDGz5g) It's the house equivalent of this

fruitcup729again

What's a thermostat? /s, from Hawaii.

whatknot2

F U from Florida :)

Big_Barda_Babe

I was very much confused before I realized this was on r/dadjokes 😭

Conscious-Spare4477

From an adult whose parents let me choose my own degree. Remind her of what she wanted to be when she was little. I chose psychology, which turned out to be 15 years of hard work and low pay. Even at the top. I wanted to be an architect and was good at drawing and creative. I forgot about it by the time I was 18. Remind your kids.

[deleted]

75!?!?!?! Do you enjoy sleeping in sweat soaked sheets of utter misery?

culculain

If it's above 72 don't invite me over.

readytogohomenow

Ain't no dad in the world letting the thermostat sit at 75. You open a door and you lose like $100 bucks right there. My dad always says anything over 70 is rich people temperature.

whatknot2

And warmer climates? We’re in Florida bro

flowersatdusk

75 degrees F? Do you sleep in a sweat lodge?

Crafty-Bedroom8190

I hope they teach her Celsius and Centigrade at college.

Tmassey1980

Maybe a degree in Climate Change, so she teach you guys why 75 is not ok.

jimmymcstinkypants

Depends, we talking winter or summer?

whatknot2

Did you study biology change? Why’s wrong with 75?

Tmassey1980

Nah, but my house is set to 62 and I live in the desert. It would be miserable to have it at 75.

whatknot2

No that makes sense… it’s just that all of us were commenting on ROOM temperature not what’s inside your fridge

[deleted]

Wonder what she choosen

whatknot2

Political Science, why’d you ask?

absolutlee2

64

[deleted]

Ever since menopause, I can't sleep if it's more than ~66 degrees at night. It sucks ass

whatknot2

Well, few dads have menopause and even fewer are courageous enough to admit to it - kudos to you dear sir!
