For lottery systems right now, they require you to submit your Virginia Driver's License or ID number, this way they can keep it to one entry per legal resident of the state. I don't see why online allocation of the non-lottery limited availability items can't also require your ID number, so that the system can keep distribution fair in some way and prevent bots from having any power.

CrazyCoatMan

I believe Pennsylvania has a similar system. If they can keep out the “bots” (seems unlikely) then this will be a pretty decent and mostly fair system.

MountainMantologist

How does it work in PA? They announce availability at X time on Y date and then it’s a computer race to order instead of a physical race to the store? I still wish they’d just do a monthly lottery with all the limited stuff (assuming they can run a fair lottery)

scholl43

I don’t know if it’s still this way, but they’d just release stuff on a page and then bots would order everything available with occasional average consumers getting a bottle or two.

callahan09

I don't see why they can't just let everybody interested in a particular bottle put their names on a waiting list, and it takes as long as it takes for you to get your bottle? I know they used to do something similar and it had a lot of problems, but I feel like with technology they can make it much more fair and also manage the system in a more fool-proof way. Anything that would end up with a waitlist longer than - I dunno, a year? - they can just shut down the waitlist and and move the item to lottery distribution.

Ok-Till-8905

Sounds about right. 60k+ and growing rapidly for lottery entrant volume. Assuming a waitlist is just as long…not sure why it wouldn’t be. So it would absolutely take 60 years (let’s use BTAC as an example which is about 1k bottles per year for at least gts and handy…less for the other three) for my name to be called for that “particular” bottle. Lol. At my age, my probability of dying is better

MountainMantologist

Ooh I like that idea too

BourbonDMV

We do not want the PA “system.”

TroyMacClure

Seeing AAlbert ___AAAdams was able to game the "system" before, my faith that they can battle reseller bots is pretty low.

Mr_Barrels

Man, I work for the damn company and they’ve done nothing to communicate this internally to stores.

BourbonDMV

Which again confirms that ABC is not close to rolling it out.

dirt_burgler

Thoroughly convinced that Richmond has a measurable level of contempt for the rank and file in the stores, and a blatant disdain for the customers. Us not knowing what's going on is nothing surprising at this point as we are just another source of problems with regards to allocated products.

Leesburgcapsfan

Great, so nerds will create scripts to snatch up all the bottles before regular folk can get anything. This will go over soo well.

Ok-Fuel5284

Something must be close because there's not been a lottery or drop in quite a while.

Bitter_Brother_4135

so if i live in VA but still have my ID from my previous state of residence then i’m fucked?

TroyMacClure

Unless you are active duty here on orders, I believe the state would argue you are supposed to get a new ID within 60 days of moving here.

Bitter_Brother_4135

thanks for the tip. really not trying to have my car insurance go up & pay the emissions shit, though haha

JustAnotherDouche2

Yup VA law says you’re breaking it!  No enforcement of said law though

mutantfrog25

Could also cause you problems if you get in a wreck and need your insurance.

Hopeful-Video6459

So military folks working in D.C and living in VA will have to obtain a VA DL?

JustAnotherDouche2

There are military and student exceptions to said laws

Twistableruby

Equity from VABC ROTFL. The next scandle out of the VABC is... IT Dept. found skimming off Pappy in black market raid at Richmond warehouse. How about TRANSPARENCY?

BourbonDMV

Yes, I’ve been posting about this for months. It also further confirms my view that LA drops and release events will continue for the time being.

AbeFromanDC

Best possible customer experience and VA ABC are two things which are not possible of being on the same piece of paper.
