This vault quickly became my favorite settlement. I set up some fences and a bell to herd the settlers while I build.
Somebody recommended setting up all the inter-connecting hallways between the big caves first, then size the big rooms. I started with no plan and just go with it.
There’s a way to clip objects so you can put them into the ground so they can be shorter and such if that would help with what you need I forget the way off the top of my head but I saw it in a YouTube workshop guide
Just spent far too long building Vault 88,size limit is bad at first, but once you go through the caves and scrap everything, you have a much bigger limit than any other settlement. Super fun place if you like building.
(There is a square looking wall vault power connector that makes electric super easy, fyi because I wish I knew that when I started)

Best advice for vault 88 is NOT to open either of the back doors. As long as they have the original blockage in place you don’t seem to get attacked anywhere but the main vault door, which is easy enough to make a death trap for would be raiders.

Not sure if you did here, but this would be a fantastic find for an alternate start mod playthrough where you *aren't* playing as Nate or Nora. Just put him in the Vault suit, leave him in Sanctuary, and make up a story that he came to you looking for help and now you're finding Shaun for him.
I just ran into him on my 5th or 6th playthru and am now realizing you can tell the synth apart because the synth can take energy damage (edit: you can tell in vats)
I just quick save, kill one, check it for a synth component. If there is none, I save scum and kill the other one. Now the synth version is alway red for me and the human version is green when I VATS them.
The synth is always the one on his knees being held at gunpoint. If you question him and pass the charisma check, he asks if you are from the institute and asks for your help so he doesn't get in trouble.

I made mine look like an absolute monster before I switched to play as Nora.
Without further context, the story makes it looks like they dethaw his pod, rescue the baby, and then put down the monster.
It'd be cool to see player nate come across npc nate and they basically do like art and his synth and basically fight over who the real nate was making you have to kill npc nate and finding no component so you'd now have to find the institute to figure out why they did this
This actually was supposed to happen! And vice versa, you can get a mod that restores the cut Nora Synth interaction. It seems like it would’ve been really unique too, imagine the story potential of exploring the commonwealth with this unknowingly fresh human being who’s judging you for what you’ve become while you feel disgust over what they are. I’d personally say it’s a must have if it wasn’t exclusive to Male characters, nobody’s made lines for Nora to speak to Nora and especially not for a synthetic Nate to replace her if you’re a female character.

I know there was one encounter I had not far outside of diamond city. Their was a blond dude with a red shirt I think and his identical synth form and they were having a stand off but more of these would be great or possibly a person and their synth and they love the idea of basically being identical twins and are happy roaming the wasteland together
What would be even crazier is if real Nate was a ghoul (feral or non) that Shaun found. This being the reason why he created the SS as a synth to see what would have been his fate, if his mind had not been corrupted by the radiation

Probably a mod you're running that unlocks a bunch of default faces for settlers to make them more diverse.
I have a settler in vault 88 who has Nora's 2nd default face and it messes with my head every time I see it.
Nora and Nate are just presets in engine and when making random, radiant npcs it just randomly selects and/or jumbles them to create npcs. Nate and Nora’s can be the product
Yeah i believe so actually, Fallout 4 like most Bethesda games uses a format that involves reusing assets that are currently in the game but not directly by copying characters, in this case, Since Nate’s face is just a preset for your character at the beginning of FO4, the game has literally just put preset 1 onto the settler you encountered as it’s probably run out of other variables to load onto it - you’ll notice some slight variations but mainly the game tries to avoid making settlers look to alike other than in clothing and voices which are sadly just a very small pool of assets to pick from, I once found a settler that looked exactly like Paladin Danse does without his BOS hood, and another that looked disturbingly close to Mayor Mcdonough.
I found him once dressed as a Mailman, dead in a grave near the sign next to one of the two roads that leads to Olivia Station, tenpenny settlement, and the Junkyard with the cockroach under the body.
Would you be willing to do something for me? For science? Save, kill him, loot his body. See if he has a synth component. If not, it's probably just a coincidence, if he DOES though, that's probably an easter egg.

You can also store weapons in the workshop, take them out, and repeat to increase the size limit on any settlement.
So you store a weapon, remove it and put it in your inventory, and then store it again? Am I following correctly?

Theres a glich where you store weapons using the workshop and it gives you infinete building space. I made a full vault without any mods
