Just downloaded this last night after trying the PS1 version. Saw a tweaked version recommended and downloaded it: War of the Lions Tweak v2.52.
Some of the stuff that’s in it:
“Gender equality: female and male characters now have the same base stats and equipment access.
* Tweaks to characters who are just better or worse copies of other characters (Balthier vs Mustadio, Luso vs Ramza, Orlandeau vs Agrias and Meliadoul). Now no character is obsolete - each has something that makes them unique.
For those who are new to the mod, these are the other major features:
* PSP spell effects slowdown fix
* Controllable "Guest" characters
* JP Boost always in effect
* Treasure Hunter always in effect and always finds the rare item
* No missable items or spells
* Multiplayer items are obtainable in the campaign
* All rare (but not unique) items can be purchased at the end of the game
* Quicker spellcasting speeds
* Spellcasting quotes reimplemented
* Endgame job prerequisites reduced
* Optional Feature: Only fight random battles when you want to
* Optional Feature: No random battle level scaling
* …and much more”
What do you make of these changes? I only played a few hours on PS1 version and went straight to this on PSP.
I’m a bit torn about it. I find it’s quite hard to level a new level 1 char if I’m against strong enemies, but all maps are relevant.
On the other hand, I can choose early zones as they’re easier for new chars to level or choose higher level zones for the rest of my chars to level, but then it makes early zones obsolete for my higher level chars.
Looks like the main effect I notice is the permanent JP boost, lets you run a battle build while grinding so it’s a little more fun, but just as grindy.
Ghost of Sparta is the best God of War game, in my opinion. Chains is the weakest one, the story is kinda dumb (but still fun to play). Also, if we're talking timelines, the Ascensions plot happened before Chains of Olympus.
Okkkkkkkkkkk. 2025 so definitely something to look forward to. Luckily I have a switch so might have to get that for sure on release.
Thank you for showing me this.
The various MGS games (peace walker, portable ops, etc), GTA 'Stories' games, Crisis Core and Pursuit Force were my best.
I also played a ridiculous amount of NBA Live and FIFA back then too.
PSP was a really underappreciated console honestly
Persona 3 Portable is my favorite! Me & My Katamari, Popolocrois, The Third Birthday, Little Big Planet, Brave Story, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and the Ys games are also really good!
Metal gear ac!d
Peace walker ( but can be played in ps3/xboxes )
Jeanne de arc
Valkyria chronicles 2&3
Mega man powered up
Many many more, but there’s a good 200 + hours for now.
#Half Minute Hero
An Evil Lord casts a spell to destroy the world… but it takes 30 seconds to cast! With the help of a the Time Goddess you have to destroy them and the person teaching them this spell!
Very fun game. I hope they remake it.
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. A solid modernization of MMX. Even the voice acting is better than MMX 4. Plus you get a whole side story as Vile.
Also honorable mention for Mega Man Powered Up. It's a shame that game has never gotten a sequel.
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade! I never got very far into it, but the beginning was cool enough that I kept coming back to try. I suspect I was held back by being a kid who wasn't quite good enough at reading english yet...
My fav by order:
1. Kingdom Heart Birth By Sleep - this surpass most psp game it feels like decent ps2 game
2. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite & Monster Hunter 3rd Portable - its game where you smash monster to dead, whats not to love?
3. Disgaea 1 & 2 - Its the grindfest rpg tactic, you could play just to beat the game or you can go far beyond that. Good to kill some times
4. Trails in the sky FC,SC,3rd - hands down my favorite combat system in jrpg. Universe expands for over 10+ games too
This is such a difficult question for me because there are a bunch of titles I absolutely love so I'm going to add them all and you can pick which you want to get
God of War Ghost of Sparta, Def Jam fight for NY, Daxter, Midnight Club 3 dub edition, manhunt 2, wwe SmackDown vs raw 2006, Tony hawks underground 2, fifa Street 2, medal of honour heroes, Peter Jackson's King Kong
Corpse Party. Okay it's not my favorite, but I recommend it. Be warned, it's the classic Japanese RPG type that has multiple endings depending on the choices you make. You can epically screw up and not know it. The extra save files are there for a reason!
Does anyone remember being able to web browse using Wipeout Pure before an official browser was out? I had a launch unit
Insane to have a portable game console that could do fully alebit kind of shitty web browsing.
Most impressive ones were all Square: Birth by Sleep, Crisis Core, the Dissidia Final Fantasy games.
I did play an ungodly amount of Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force 2 and 3 on it, however. Even played a fan-translated version of the last one - which came out in 2015! - on a PSP emulator.
I haven't seen anyone mention Half-Minute Hero, so I'll put that one out there. It's a lite-RPG where you have only 30 seconds to level up, get gear, and defeat an evil lord to save the world! Luckily you have the goddess of time on your side, but her service doesn't come cheap!
I loved my psp’s (went through 3 of them). The games I played the most were FF Tactics, Disgaea, and midnight club. There was also a diablo-like game that was a launch title I think, but i can’t think of the name. Oh, and the xmen port. The psp also had a lot of trash titles too. The main complaint I had was that the clear plastic window on the disks was always getting pushed in and games wouldn’t load until you did some work to pop it back into place. Oh, and kingdom of paradise was good, it had a neat combat mechanic you could really dig in to.
If you don't mind not being able to read most of the text, some of my favorites are the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva series, the Nendoroid Generations game, and the K-On!! game.
For English games, the best ones in my opinion are Monster Hunter Freedom 1, 2, and Unite. Absolute best games on the console in my opinion!
My top 10:
God of War double pack
Final Fantasy Tactics (#1)
Jeanne D'arc (#2)
Yugioh tag force (#3)
Daxter
Ratchet & Clank size matters
WWE SVR 2006
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
Kingdom hearts birth by sleep
Secret Agent Clank
final fantasy tactics.

Everything looks fine but level scaling. You want level scaling in random battles: this means you can battle or grind on any map tile

I came to say this. found your response. upvoting
I didn't know they had a PSP version. I always assumed it was just a GBA classic
yep and the PSP edition: war of the lions, is the definitive one
God of war chains of olympus. Chronologically the first god of war. Very entertainig, it doesn't dissapoint
I feel like Ghost of Spart is an improvement in every regard, but yeah they are both worth playing.
Ghost of Sparta is the best God of War game, in my opinion. Chains is the weakest one, the story is kinda dumb (but still fun to play). Also, if we're talking timelines, the Ascensions plot happened before Chains of Olympus.
Yeaaaah totally forgot about ascensions, my bad hahahaha i forgot about that one
Is okay, many people didn't like Ascensions that much. I think it was neat, but it's not the most memorable title.
Loco Roco. But there are ports on ps4/5 anyway...
I got into retro gaming relatively recently and was surprised how ahead of its time that game was. Holds up perfectly even today.
MGS Peace Walker >
Hundreds of hours of childhood memories
Peacewalker was borderline unplayable for me at 15-25fps
Solid 20 fps actually. Can unlock it to achieve a solid 30 fps, no clue why it wasnt like that on release.
The jak and Daxter spinoff Titled Daxter It's set right between the first and second Cutscene of The Second Game
one of the best
FF7 Crisis Core followed closely by God of War Chains of Olympus. I also played an absolute disgusting amount of Socom Fireteam Bravo.
Jeanne Dearc - similar to ff tactics
same. only this and shining force have ever scratched my vandal hearts itch which is in my top 5 games.
This game was really hard...
I found it to be one of the easier SRPG's.
Patapon
Agree. I still play through all 3 when the urge hits. I want them to make another, as long as it comes to PC.
Let me brighten your day with [Ratatan](https://youtu.be/nPWqba2ifNg)!
You genuinely made my day!
I'm so excited for Ratatan
Okkkkkkkkkkk. 2025 so definitely something to look forward to. Luckily I have a switch so might have to get that for sure on release. Thank you for showing me this.
Fever!
The various MGS games (peace walker, portable ops, etc), GTA 'Stories' games, Crisis Core and Pursuit Force were my best. I also played a ridiculous amount of NBA Live and FIFA back then too. PSP was a really underappreciated console honestly
>PSP was a really underappreciated console honestly Yea, by Sony
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X was dope
Monster Hunter Freedom
Unite
Disagree.
Prinny, can I really be a hero?! ys series Birth by sleep Peace walker Force unleashed
Persona 3 Portable! It's an exclusive RPG gem on PSP with a gripping story and addictive gameplay
My favorite PSP game!
Remake of it came out recently for new consoles if you’re interested.
No longer exclusive
wrong. i fully understand that a psp cannot ever hope to match a ps2, but p3p is a worse downgrade than jet set radio for the GBA.
Persona 3 Portable is my favorite! Me & My Katamari, Popolocrois, The Third Birthday, Little Big Planet, Brave Story, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and the Ys games are also really good!
I've heard that Third Birthday was the black sheep of the Parasite Eve franchise. Still, I want to try out this series!
I still liked it!
Patapon 3 , Final Fantasy Disssidia 012
Had some good tactics games. Jeanne D’Arc and Valkyria Chronicles were both a lot of fun
Socom US Navy Seals Fire Tram Bravo 1 & 2 also Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
I bought the PSP specifically for Birth by Sleep and Crisis Core.
We are the same
PSP??? Oh you mean the Monster Hunter handheld.
[удалено]
Nice, who do you main?
[удалено]
Never been a fan af those either, I'm more of a mishima player. But I like King/AK, Kuma, Jack-5 too :)
Midnight club 3 (and LA) are fantastic games... Wish I still had my PSP, but even emulation works fine.
I gotta say playing midnight club on a plane with 3 of my buddies back then felt like was the future. So much fun.
give Monster Hunter Freedom Unite a try! It's exclusive to PSP and offers endless adventure and monster-slaying fun
AVP Requiem
Kill zone was the shit. Top down iso shooter.
IL-2 Birds of Prey is pretty nostalgic for me
there was a killzone liberation. Bit of a top down twin stick, Really good and had some nice mechanics for the time
Jeanne D'Arc
Ace Combat: Skies of Deception. I probably played through this game 6 times or more.
Metal gear acid 2
Dead Head Fred. Classic
Metal gear ac!d Peace walker ( but can be played in ps3/xboxes ) Jeanne de arc Valkyria chronicles 2&3 Mega man powered up Many many more, but there’s a good 200 + hours for now.
#Half Minute Hero An Evil Lord casts a spell to destroy the world… but it takes 30 seconds to cast! With the help of a the Time Goddess you have to destroy them and the person teaching them this spell! Very fun game. I hope they remake it.
breath of fire 3
Metal gear Acid 1 + 2 If you like tactical games
Vice City story, off-road fury blazing, and ratchet n clank size matter :)
Love rpg so final fantasy crisis core and some yugioh were fun too. Been looking at Japanese game that have fan translation now
Monster Hunter 3rd
Jeanne D'arc. I'd put it right up there with Final Fantasy Tactics.
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. A solid modernization of MMX. Even the voice acting is better than MMX 4. Plus you get a whole side story as Vile. Also honorable mention for Mega Man Powered Up. It's a shame that game has never gotten a sequel.
Echochrome Grand Theft Auto - Liberty City Stories
Fate/EXTRA!
PES and SSX on tour
Pursuit Force. I loved jumping from car to car. Sleeping Dogs copied this mechanic
Jackass
I specifically bought a PSP for Generations of Chaos years ago. It's also available on Android now though.
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade! I never got very far into it, but the beginning was cool enough that I kept coming back to try. I suspect I was held back by being a kid who wasn't quite good enough at reading english yet...
Valkyria Chronicles II and III
definitely gta liberty city, vice city and Chinatown.
My fav by order: 1. Kingdom Heart Birth By Sleep - this surpass most psp game it feels like decent ps2 game 2. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite & Monster Hunter 3rd Portable - its game where you smash monster to dead, whats not to love? 3. Disgaea 1 & 2 - Its the grindfest rpg tactic, you could play just to beat the game or you can go far beyond that. Good to kill some times 4. Trails in the sky FC,SC,3rd - hands down my favorite combat system in jrpg. Universe expands for over 10+ games too
FIFA street, ssx on tour Played the shit out of these two games.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite or Ratchet & Clank - Size Matters are probably my two most player psp games. Final Fantasy Tactics also comes to mind.
This is such a difficult question for me because there are a bunch of titles I absolutely love so I'm going to add them all and you can pick which you want to get God of War Ghost of Sparta, Def Jam fight for NY, Daxter, Midnight Club 3 dub edition, manhunt 2, wwe SmackDown vs raw 2006, Tony hawks underground 2, fifa Street 2, medal of honour heroes, Peter Jackson's King Kong

Medieval remake and the warriors. Warriors was a ps2 game and it's remade in its entirety for psp, very impressive for the time imo
I remember playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy when waiting for class. Probably not one of the best but it's what I remember the clearest.
Wipeout pure/pulse, runs better on emulator but still good games.
God of war of course
God of war ghost of Sparta, DBZ shin Budokai another road, Ben 10 protector of the earth
I really like Assassins Creed Bloodlines
It’s between Crisis Core and Dissidia 012, but probably Dissidia.
its a tossup between daxter and that oreimo game
Man, this was back in 2006-07 when I was in middle school, but I loved playing Ridge Racer, Spider-Man, and Loco Roco. Good times.
God of war ghost of Sparta
The Warriors. I must have played that game all the way through 20 times.
Ratchet and clank size matters and Medieval Resurrection.
Does anyone remember being able to web browse using Wipeout Pure before an official browser was out? I had a launch unit Insane to have a portable game console that could do fully alebit kind of shitty web browsing.
Pursuit force. I preferred the first one
The psp was my final fantasy machine. Ff tactics. Ff9 ff8 ff7 etc.
Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core
I loved my psp’s (went through 3 of them). The games I played the most were FF Tactics, Disgaea, and midnight club. ghost in the shell stand alone complex
Wipeout. Was the last great addition to the series.
The 3rd Birthday a.k.a. Parasite Eve 3.
NBA Live 06 and 07
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is why I bought a PSP. Actually also why I bought a vita, too.
Medal of honor heroes 2 and little big planet.
Dissidia 012! Followed closely by KH: Birth by Sleep
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Such a tragic story in a series that's generally pretty cheery
Lord of the rings tactics
Dissidia: Final Fantasy
MGS Peace Walker Disidia Final Fantasy Pursuit Force FF7 Crisis Core
Untold Legends
Crash tag team racing and its not even close
Why no one remembered RockBand Unplugged?
My 2 most played are Sims: castaway and Daxter
All the Patapons
I put a ton of hours into those Phantasy Star Portable games.
Persona 3 portable is still pretty dang good, especially if you can’t play the recent remastered version.
MLB the show 07
Me and my katamari lol
Ultimate Ghosts’n Goblins. It’s the right kind of challenge for me.
Super Robot Taisen V2s
My top 10: God of War double pack Final Fantasy Tactics (#1) Jeanne D'arc (#2) Yugioh tag force (#3) Daxter Ratchet & Clank size matters WWE SVR 2006 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Kingdom hearts birth by sleep Secret Agent Clank
I liked mortal kombat x
Mortal Kombat x was not on psp. Mortal Kombat 9 was on Vita, maybe that's what you were thinking of.
My bad it was called mortal kombat unchained
> mortal kombat unchained ah that was a port of MK Deception (aka MK6)
Ah ok. It's been a long time since I played it. But it wasn't bad
