If anyone was wondering why (took my dense ass quite a while to realize) it's so that the highest amount of spikes the icon can jump over always increases by one. I.e. 2 spikes at half speed, 3 spikes at normal speed, 4 at double, etc. However, because RobTop just hates all of us, it's not actually exactly those numbers. For instance, half speed is a bit faster than 0.66 and quadruple speed is a bit slower than a direct doubling of normal speed. This is all not to mention that normal speed is ALMOST 10 editor tiles per second, but just a weird little margin over that. All of this makes any sort of precise calculation tending to Geometry Dash's speed a living hell.

I’m pretty sure it’s actually 0.777…x, 1x, 1.333…x, 1.555…x, and 1.777…x. I feel like I heard this from one of GD Cologne’s fun fact video, but take it with a grain of salt because I really don’t remember.

If 0.9x is normal, then what is 1x? The fact that “normal” speed isn’t the default 1x is so cursed.

While those may be correct, they're really difficult to say and remember so I still refer to them according to the number of arrows.

That's not hard, on normal speed your jump is 3 spikes long, on slow speed your jump is 2 spikes long so it's ⅔ speed, on second speed your jump is 4 spikes long and 4-3=1 so it means that is 1⅓ speed, etc
