its probably the heat,
the warmer the water is, the less oxygen it can hold. and the lower the water, the warmer it will get, the water is very low and warm atm, so they probably suffocated.
The issue with these ones is lack of rain, high water temps and quite often disease. they wont spawn until Sept/October. Atlantic Salmon don't necessarily die after spawning like their Pacific cousins
You have given the only correct reply here, lack of rain and high temps lower the available oxygen and increase the algae and chance of disease, once they get to a certain point they can't ascend any further without a good flow and congregate in pools, with some dying.
95% of them die after breeding I seen tons of dead ones when we went very late in the season any that are dying now haven't bred yet. Late August early sept they normally start the orgy
"The data has alarmed fisheries experts and ecologists. Wild salmon and trout are a keystone species for many mammals and birds, and a plunging fish population harms other creatures such as otter, osprey and mergansers, damaging the wider ecosystem.
Salmon are highly sensitive to water temperature and reduced water purity. Their decline is seen as unequivocal evidence that the climate crisis, pollution, fish farming and industrial activities are causing wider environmental harm."

"Numbers of Atlantic salmon returning to Scotlandās coast have declined since at least 1971 and fail to meet conservation targets. Approximately half of assessed stocks (95/193) are in poor conservation status. Rod catches of sea trout have declined over the past 20 years in just over 38% of stocks."

And I said they die after mating I never said anything else. I've fished (poached) for salmon for 20 years and still catch them, the numbers may be lower but I didn't argue that I answered a question. Yeah it's shit the pollution has caused a major decline but again I didn't argue that.
Two words: rat piss. The Kelvin's fulla rats. Where d'ye hink they piss? Wee rat toilets stationed along the banks eh the Kelvin?
Naw. They piss IN the Kelvin. One glug a that n ye'll be stone deid.
pollution / sewage / chemicals. there will be toxic micro plastics from people throwing non biodegradable waste into the river, contaminating the water
All of the above is terrible and does happen, but not in sufficient levels in the Kelvin to bring about a fish kill. Itās down to lack of rain, heat and subsequent low oxygen levels. The Kelvin is actually in reasonable nick otherwise.
You used to see them jumping the wier on the walkway in autumn, if you just waited a minute you'd see at least one but the last few years i've not seen any :\_(
If they are ragged and beaten up looking, every chance they are escapees from a farm. They try to get up a river but donāt usually make it because of the conditions in the nets.
If you look at closely at their undersides - itās likely āRed Skin Diseaseā (RSD) has killed them.

Sadly, becoming more prevalent in Scottish rivers.
Worth reporting to the local authority, OP.
Trout. Hard Trout. Trout with Knives.
Knives Trout?
Glass Sturgeon: A Knives Trout Mystery
Yasss you fucking legend š š
Cause the live ones are swimming and donāt sit still like that x
Ironically, itās [survivorship bias](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias)
Pete saw a crocodile in the Kelvin. But that was when he was injecting absinthe into his tongue.
My mate paul said he saw a shark but he was also on the wakky bakky at the time
He's no deed, he's just an Australian Salmon
Rat piss
Weāre not going to drink the Kelvin Bobby!
its the Kelvin no the Congo
I said I will not be paying for headphones.
Came here to say this. One glug n they're stinte deid.
Definitely

I aint no fish Doctor but this looks like a clear case of salmon ella.
š
Salmon die after spawning. Any river that salmon spawn in will have dead salmon after they're done. It's not necessarily related to sewage.
The issue with these ones is lack of rain, high water temps and quite often disease. they wont spawn until Sept/October. Atlantic Salmon don't necessarily die after spawning like their Pacific cousins

"Change da world. My final message. Goodbye."
Na thatās only in North America
>Salmon die after spawning Like newbie TF2 players.
Junkie salmon.
Uhh i was swimming in the kelvin last night and have a terrible fever sweating and coughing...
Maybe you caught salmonella.
His name is Sparkie. I'm also curious to know if he caught the salmon right enough.
For real? I'd get a GP appointment if so, tell em that and ask to be checked for leptospirosis.
Cause the Kelvinās full of rrrat piss.
And the rest lol
You SWAM in that?
Considering your name is āsparkieā youāre not very bright are you?
Cos eh the trout. Hard trout. Trout wae knives.
The alive ones move too quickly
Probably the temperature of the water is a factor given the recent heat - especially in shallower sections, or death after spawning.
the ones that are alive are hiding
Gary Mackay Steven landed on them and squashed them?
Thats fishy
Pining for the fjords
Contact sepa, Scottish Environment Protection Agency if you see dead fish in a river.
It's choked on the missing ring: behold it is the prophecy!

ITS THE KELVIN NO THE CONGO!
Horrible to see aswell š
Tilt yur heed slightly and look at emā fae a different perspective. The perspective being that theyāre only playing deed.
Iāve only every seen trolleys or dogs (alive) in the kelvin. At least you saw something different I guess
pollution / sewage / chemicals. there will be toxic micro plastics from people throwing non biodegradable waste into the river, contaminating the water
Nah, the river is probably in the best state it's been in for 2 centuries. We used to just dump our waste directly into it.
All of the above is terrible and does happen, but not in sufficient levels in the Kelvin to bring about a fish kill. Itās down to lack of rain, heat and subsequent low oxygen levels. The Kelvin is actually in reasonable nick otherwise.

Either pollution or the area is where the salmon spawn.
Goldfish?
Life cycle stuff... it's all part of the plan
Cause all the live ones are at Sub Club
Drunk from all the empty cans upstream
That's no a dead salmon, looks like koi carp
āI see dead pĢ¶eĢ¶oĢ¶pĢ¶lĢ¶eĢ¶ salmonā¦ā
must have been stabbed
Because jack victor and winston went down it
Nah I can see some rocks in there too, look.
My theory is sewage leak due to flooding
Salmon can not breath fresh water after they have entered salt water.
Cole sear is that you?
I've caught a 7 pounder in the Kelvin so the live ones keep going until they breed
For same reason you only see dead badgers on the side of the motorway
