Fun fact there are 58 cruise ships in royal Caribbean cruise lines, each year they put out more emissions than all the vehicles in europe combined.
Dont see anyone banning cruise ships
I'd be curious to see a proper net impact analysis - i.e. if those people weren't on the cruise ships, they'd probably have flown to a hotel, possibly at another country, eating buffets, heated pools, etc.
That being said I still think cruise ship emissions would be higher because of the use of diesel.
I mean people fly to Miami from the UK to get in those ships to cruise around the Caribbean and then back to Miami and then back to the UK. Just flying straight to the Caribbean and relaxing in 1/2 islands would basically be the same holiday with a lot less pollution.
Ya I went to school for sustainability and resource management with a focus in agronomy. Good news is we won't ever be able to save the planet. Live your life and do whatever you want. None of the sustainability "movements" will do anything.
Used to work for an aviation fuel company, Masters week was insane for sales at that airport. In addition to the fees they charge just for landing there.
Not that many. Most guys are NetJets/FlexJet/ WheelsUp/ pick your jetcard program sponsored. Those planes drop those guys off and bail to do other flying. Tiger is one of the only guys I can think of that owns his own. Phil used to have a Gulfstream.
Rory used to have a G550 - not sure if he still uses it. Adam Scott has a Gulfstream as well, Min Woo Lee talked about hitching a ride in Adam’s jet some time ago.
To any aspiring vandals in the Augusta, Georgia area… all I have to say is Godspeed and good luck to you all. May every tire be slashed and every fuselage be spray painted.
Nope, I’m just against grotesque displays of wealth that will cause Augusta’s Azaleas to start blooming January if this doesn’t stop. But whatever simp for them if you want to.
It was a zoo yesterday; a lot of diverts after AGS shut down due to parking. They handled it wonderfully. We had to get some gas due to ZTL dropping us from 450 to 330 about 400 miles out, but the FBO had the fuel truck pulled up to us about 15 minutes after we landed.
Having the temporary tower there to keep some order is a welcomed change.
And…thank god the wind was MOSTLY down the runway. That would have gotten ugly with any more crosswind component.
One time I got to go to a multi millionaires summer vacation house and it was truly eye opening how this part of the population lives.
It was like they were playing life on ultra easy mode and everyday was a fun day.
I’m sure glad I switched from plastic straws. lol
You da real hero, homey. Each straw is like 5,000 jets or something.
I actually read that in an article. It was almost 5001, but it didn't quite make it there. So it was 5000 private jets and 33.5 baby seals saved.
Amazing. What an example to us all. I just threw out 17 baby seats this week.

Those people still have to get to the port, via their cars, or even planes.

I’m pretty sure the fuel they use is relatively crude and pretty inefficient compared to regular diesel
I think but don’t know anything about fuel that they are changing the fuel they use for newer ships
If you open up flight radar at any part of the day and just scroll around it’s amazing how many planes are flying at any one time.

It's just gonna suck when the reality of The Sheep Look Up becomes our actual reality
How dare you submit one photograph with a 1/4 in the top right?
WHY WONT IT SWIPE
How many blurry pictures of planes do you need?
ALL 4 OF THEM
Used to work for an aviation fuel company, Masters week was insane for sales at that airport. In addition to the fees they charge just for landing there.
Don't worry everyone, I'm sure they're offsetting.
I’m more concerned with the (1/4) in the top corner of the picture and not being able to swipe to the next picture
They must’ve all seen the photos of how commercial airlines handle golf bags.
I know right
There is us, and there is them..
Some people just have entirely too much money. All I want is to be able to afford a damn house.
I’m the same. All I want is a house in Augusta I can park my jet near.
Screw a house, I’d just like to be able to afford a tee time more than once a month!
There’s at least a dozen jets there with owners who are hell bent on not allowing you to buy.

My 12 year old self finds that very deep
Looks like Nantucket in the summer time
How many of those belong to players in the tournament?
Not that many. Most guys are NetJets/FlexJet/ WheelsUp/ pick your jetcard program sponsored. Those planes drop those guys off and bail to do other flying. Tiger is one of the only guys I can think of that owns his own. Phil used to have a Gulfstream.

Interesting. N716AS, GV. Still registered to AS Aviation Holdings. Looks like Rory still has his too.
Tax the rich
Where's the crew LAN/watch party going down?
And come Sunday evening I'll be out there with my thumb out and a cardboard sign saying Seattle?
Thought that was the climate summit at first.

Double standards.
How many of them are Taylor Swifts though?

What's a 12k foot house rental
What is "The 1% has way too much fucking money," Alex.
This isn’t the 1% this is the .01%. Probably even higher to be honest with you. It’s likely the .001%.
Yeah in the US the 1% is a net worth of like $6-$14 million depending on who you ask. That’s not PJ money, that’s first class money
yeah it's around $6M with wages of ~$400K plus. there's no fucking way anyone with that kind of pocket is doing private jets.

I remember kids like you on the playground. If I can't have it, nobody should have it. Breaking other peoples shit to feel better about themselves.

Your car is more wasteful than my car. Hope somebody keys it. That is exactly what you said....just aiming lower.

Ahh....didn't realize I was dealing with a real internet badass. My bad.
Wahhh people have more money than me so I'm going to destroy their shit like a baby throwing a tantrum
Thats not even all of them, They also just drop people off in Augusta then go to Columbia, SC near by to park.
Technically it’s in this world
Aiken is the best kept secret in corporate aviation. And I’d like to keep it that way, because I’m leaving to fly in there in about 15 minutes.
We did Aiken Weds-Thurs, still a lot of planes but much more laid back. No delays in or out.

Just goes to show that despite the “one of us” meme that goes around the subreddit when the pros shank one, these guys are NOT one of us lol.
Wealth inequality will be the end of us.
Liberal climate activists avert your eyes!

A lot of these may be chartered jets rented by sponsors, media and rich people and are not actually owned by the people flying in them.
