What gun isn't worth keeping?

Trapper779_

Very much but most are not too expensive but older ones in good condition go for a good amount

pineapplesly

I may be wrong but I believe that it is a mosin nagant

Stthedude

Yes, and a old one at that.

ghostman51

Mosin nagant rifle 1891/30 pattern made in 1943 then shortened to carbine length in 1959 hence the 1891/59 designation. If it’s really from your grandfather why wouldn’t you want to keep it?

Beautiful_Dog_2997

Didn't really know him hits got passed down from person to person ended up with me

Stthedude

Definitely wouldn’t give that up. Old surplus World War II guns are getting crazy expensive not only that they’re just super cool. I wouldn’t get rid of it. Pass that down to your kids next. The price of old vintage gun keeps going up so by the time they’re old enough to ask the same question it will be worth a whole lot more

Magicalamazing_

That is a Mosin Nagant M91/59 Neat rifle.

stunseed77

Mosin Nagant. It’s a nice rifle, used to be extremely cheap as they made millions of them in the Soviet Russian era. Even now they’re still relatively inexpensive for a military surplus rifle. Yours might be a little more valuable given the age, but it also depends on the condition and how clean/rust free it’s been kept. At the end of the day whether or not it’s “worth keeping” is up to how you feel about it, it’s sentimental value as something of your grandfathers, and whether or not it’s a firearm you like/want to take care of.

45Auto1

It shoots a 7.62 by 54 rimmed cartridge with ballistics about the same as our .30-'06

Large-Welder304

Please have it checked by a competent gunsmith before firing it.

Few-Teaching-9602

If your keeping it please using a gun cleaning kit

BlueStarSpecial

Mosin. If numbers match you’ve got something.

Beautiful_Dog_2997

All the numbers match

Tiabetianquailudes

That’s expensive then, I wouldn’t get rid of it. Keep it like an heirloom, keep it put up and away from water and clean it.

Shine-Prize

It's a Mosin, and no matter what it's a surplus gun. And a cheaper then most surplus gun at that. Given another few decades you might get something for it but I wouldn't bank on it. Now it is almost a 100yr old gun. Mine was made in 42 and is a dream to shoot. I recommend keeping it for the history of the rifle alone.

FanImaginary

Russian Mosin from izhmash(izhevsk?) factory and Soviet era markings by the looks of it. Numbers matching, per ops comment. Should be of decent value, depending on the condition of the internals and bore. On average I want to say I see these go for 700-1000 retail in Texas atm. Which probably means people are going to try and offer $300/400 or so dollars walking into a store. I’d want to keep it myself. Best of luck in your endeavors.

inthesky326

M44 Mosin nagant. Don't sell it. Those things are my favorite to shoot of all time.

KisWiking

I think its a kar98k, a springfield m1903 or a mosin nagant
