They weren't removed from OW2. 2CP as a game mode was just removed from matchmaking playlists. The game mode, and maps, are still available in custom games.

They are based on actual Maps from Overwatch - Hanamura and Volskaya Industries - but besides the art style they are completely different Maps - the layout is completely different and is no Payload in Hanamura.

I have a love/hate relationship with hanamura - I'd like to see them do something like just reskin existing maps with the assets from other maps, like imagine Spider Queen map, but looking like foundry or hanamura, no other changes to the map just visual.
I believe Cursed Hollow is as well.
