Unfortunately will probably stay at two if he remains in Vegas. Time for a rebuild, sadly will probably go the way of the coyotes once they start bombing seasons and Vegas loses interest
I mean I don’t think you can be mentally weak and make it to the SCF final but this is definitely showing a team who looks rattled by the whole experience.
Comes from the top
Mcdavid turns into a pissy baby and takes dumb penalties when they’re losing (don’t hate it, at least he’s showing some pushback rather than crying like much of the leafs team)
I'll actually contradict this and the eetu diving posts... This is a professional team with professional means and interventions. They have access to a wide range of drugs and other manners to get their guys back on the ice.
Even if a player takes a nasty hit and comes back, it does NOT mean that dirty hit is excused
ryan lindgren broke his ribs in the NYR/FLA series and i could tell on the exact play when it happened. I figured he would be out for a few games when he went to the locker room. He was back in 5 minutes
Yeah all it takes is a quick needle to numb the pain to make it easier to play with. This is after they make sure the broken rib isn’t gonna puncture a lung or something
Looking at where Foegele's knee hits Luostarinen, I wouldn't be surprised if he needed to walk off a deadleg.
As you say, strong painkillers make it a lot easier to walk off a deadleg.
I have taken my fair share of elbows to the face
I can fucking tell you, a guy the size of Drai? Nah, your ass is going down. Especially with a jump and speed from his skating. Doesn’t matter who you are, you’re going on your ass and probably gonna get concussed.
Anyone saying Barkov is diving has never been hit in the face before, and yell “Just stand up” when watching UFC
People do it because it elicits a response. If people stop posting complaining about trolls doing it then they will stop. Until people learn to stop feeding trolls, the trolls are going to continue eating
I learned recently that you can report those messages. I don’t know what happens to the people that submit them but you can at least report the misuse of that resource.
Ive gotten 3 from Oilers fans this year
I had multiple Oilers fans go back to random gamethread posts from 7 months ago after the Oilers beat the Canucks to dunk on us. Not even a topic I made, random posts.
Yet theyre the "rent free" ones apparently...
The hilarious part is all the talk from Oilers fans about how dirty Mikey Anderson is because him and Drai were involved in a scrum and he took Draisaitl down. Then how he deserved it when McDavid boarded him the next year
The knee hit was shit and this was weak/poor form. But one game doesn't make FLA the victim. Also, I think Bennett filed a patent for the butt end punch after the last game.
I keep seeing Boston fans with stupid takes in this series. Finally remembered cats knocked you out so you guys are just mad about that series. You really shouldn't tell others they don't know hockey when you are so blinded from emotions.
It’s been a rule of thumb in hockey for the time
I’ve been paying attention to it. Whether playing, reffing, or watching, the number of strides a player takes before laying a hit has been a topic of conversation for a long time. So **we** aren’t making it up. That proxy has existed long enough to be part of the fabric of the game.
I invite you to read rule 42 of the NHL rulebook on charging and to come back to me with the excerpt on number of strides.
While you're in there, why not simply do a search for the word stride in the document.
I'll wait.
They need a more succinct call for trying to castrate a player, just to let everyone else know how much of a shitbag you really are.
“He’s got 6 testicular minors this season. Keep your knees locked when he’s on the ice”
I think they pull off one but they’re going to panic so god damn badly down the line. No way they win more than one game, they’re going to split at home in the best case scenario
Edmonton needs to wake the hell up if they are going to win games. I get being frustrated and the penalty doesnt mean much but it shows just how much Florida is in their heads right now.
Out of curiosity, can you tell me what part of this title is a hot take and or wrong?

I don't disagree with the title, but a title along the lines of "Draisaitl catches Barkov with a high hit" is a correct title without pushing a narrative.
Your suggested title essentially calls it a dirty hit. A non editorialized title is purely descriptive and allows the reader to draw their own conclusion.
My title was purely descriptive, its not my fault there was only 1 conclusion to draw from what happened💀
If a player swings his stick on another player's head baseball style am I supposed to title it "X catches Y's upper body with his stick"
For the well being of Hockey culture, Florida has to not win the cup.
I think we're all familiar with how trashy, dirty, and flat out dangerous the Panthers have been this season and especially so in these playoffs.
I for one am all for physicality, I cheer when my team throws a big hit and I like seeing players get splatted (legally so) on the board.
However, there is a huge gap between throwing a huge legal check to stopna play and intending to injury players match after match.
I acknowledge that wearing your opponents down by being physical is part of the playoffs and its a valid strategy to get the edge (haha funny word ik). But that shouldn't come at þhe expense of deliberately hurting them.
This cannot become the standard, I do not want a league where teams take notes and exemple out of this Panthers team. I want this sports to be as clean and respectable as possible. I don't want to be ashame to like hockey because people view it in a bad light. This sport is beautiful and frankly the best one on earth, and I would HATE to see it change for the worse because of this group of players and their game plan.
Intent to injure cannot become a standard
What kind of pussy hit is that. Why has hockey normalized these bullshit, arms up hits. Drop your shoulder and hit the guy in his chest properly.
Doesn't justify the cup shot though. I don't blame him taking a wack at him after that but a cup shot is just not the one.
Same hit as on Barkov but in opposite direction by Kulikov he flying and punch him in a face with glove, but r/Hockey got just to much hate to Edmonton. Cup check was a clean penalty to.
Dude i pride of my flair. I never had hope ( except maybe couple couple times) because I watched all season. The Rangers bounced back too many times, and I was surprised they made it that far. On the other hand, the Panthers are as bad as Edmonton in this game in terms of dirtiness, and I watch the games just for the laughs. I got my eyes and i don’t care who will win.
That’s cool man, and it was a tough series with many close games. But to think this hit where Kuli stays on his feet and puts his hands in the guys chest is the same as Drai leaving his feet to elbow Barkov in the jaw is either disingenuous or delusional.
~~This looks like a really good hit followed by an average and unneeded response, and it seems like the FLA player sells it pretty well while falling right in front of the ref.~~
I feel like EDM came out trying to match the Panthers physically last night but couldn’t keep it clean enough. the panthers seem really good at hitting and selling a fall on the response. I’d rather see a less physical series like the one against Dallas, but I’m not sure EDM should continue to try to match FLA physically. Took some dumb penalties in game 2 and it might be better to just try and play
Dude grabbed his stick and two hand uppercut his nuts with a stick after a clean hit and is “selling” it. My guy, I don’t know how often you’ve been hit in the nuts with a stick uppercutting you with the force of a pro athlete behind it (even with a cup on) but let me tell you I have experienced much less and that shit will make you fall to your knees pretty quick, even just as a defensive response.

This is the closest Sam Carrick will come to touching a Cup
This joke is being overlooked and I cannot have that. This is golden.
Took me a second read to understand the reference
Well played.
Damn, former duck on former duck violence. Sad to see.
Draisaitl effect
How does one “outdirty” the Panthers?? Well done Oilers, I’m impressed lol
Same ngl
He needs to take lessons from Bennett on how to do this without the refs noticing.
[удалено]
try watching the games then forming an opinion
> I’ve never seen FL as dirty. Must have similar vision as many refs.
Flair up dawg.
The Oilers are mentally weak
My guy got punked so hard. Gets rocked, acts like a little bitch, gets laughed at. Love to see it.
I think they always have been
I don't think we should comment on mental toughness...
We aren't delusional though. We know where we are at.
That's true
Coming from a Jets fan lol
Like you guys are any fuckin better. LMAO.
Lmao so weak. There’s levels to this
Right, be a man and tomahawk someone's wrist like Pietrangelo
Pietrangelo’s got two more Cup rings than any Oiler over the last 34 years, bud.
Unfortunately will probably stay at two if he remains in Vegas. Time for a rebuild, sadly will probably go the way of the coyotes once they start bombing seasons and Vegas loses interest
And McDavid, Draisaitl, and the rest will stay at 0 if any remains in Edmonton. God bless desert hockey.
If not this year, next year they will be even better with more experience. They'll be back again
Keep dreaming, that’s what they all say and few actually do.
Lmfao you killed him This being down voted is why reddit is so ass nowadays

Have you even been watching your own team? They literally went out and got the greatest sports psychologist in the world, and they still suck.
And this was big, discussed news like…within this last week? I swear.
Fucking Oilers fans I swear.
[удалено]
They’re a whole city of bandwagoners. They need to move to Houston already so a real city can have a hockey team.
Guess the Kings lost in the first round 3 years in a row to a team that sucks. Woof.
I mean I don’t think you can be mentally weak and make it to the SCF final but this is definitely showing a team who looks rattled by the whole experience.
Drai penalty is one that could flip the series in many ways
Edmonton really out here somehow showing us all they can be dirtier than Florida.
Oilers culture
We all know it, and now the rest of the world gets to see it on display.
And Oilers fans support this
Slick.
Comes from the top Mcdavid turns into a pissy baby and takes dumb penalties when they’re losing (don’t hate it, at least he’s showing some pushback rather than crying like much of the leafs team)
Only after suffering through countless elbows and slashes. Didn’t see any of it in the Dallas series.

r/hockey crusading against the cats before the series just for the oilers to be the dirty shitbags
Edm complaining about diving on this and barkov rofl talk about delusional
I immediately assume anyone who says Barkov dives is an idiot. Because they are.
If he came back quickly id kind of understand but he never did. Clearly he got fucked up
I'll actually contradict this and the eetu diving posts... This is a professional team with professional means and interventions. It wasn't his choice to come back to be fair, it was a concussion protocol pull iirc. Which makes sense, it was a hit to the head and he stayed down
I have taken my fair share of elbows to the face I can fucking tell you, a guy the size of Drai? Nah, your ass is going down. Especially with a jump and speed from his skating. Doesn’t matter who you are, you’re going on your ass and probably gonna get concussed. Anyone saying Barkov is diving has never been hit in the face before, and yell “Just stand up” when watching UFC
I would expect some Reddit cares messages in your inbox soon thanks to unstable oiler fans
Why do people do this lol, it’s so fucking sad
Makes me feel pretty good when I get one.
I got one this season, got three last season
People do it because it elicits a response. If people stop posting complaining about trolls doing it then they will stop. Until people learn to stop feeding trolls, the trolls are going to continue eating
Why is it always Oilers fans though
It's literally every dipshit troll, the thing is only about 10 of them have the IQ to come up with the idea themselves
The IQ thing definitely explains why it’s always Oilers fans.
You either didn't understand what my point was or you're saying that the smart trolls are Oilers fans
It was a trend that started with the freedom convoy
I learned recently that you can report those messages. I don’t know what happens to the people that submit them but you can at least report the misuse of that resource.

r/hockey finding out what every fan of a pacific team has known for years
In all fairness we had to deal with knee to knee Dustin brown for quite a few years…
LA fans knew what was up since we have had to deal with it for 3 straight years lol
The hilarious part is all the talk from Oilers fans about how dirty Mikey Anderson is because him and Drai were involved in a scrum and he took Draisaitl down. Then how he deserved it when McDavid boarded him the next year
Going back through some of those old threads is going to be some good comedy.
[удалено]
And you know I can still laugh at it right?
As a Flames/Knights fan this is how Edmonton rolls. Always have. Greasy
The knee hit was shit and this was weak/poor form. But one game doesn't make FLA the victim. Also, I think Bennett filed a patent for the butt end punch after the last game.
I’m not saying all the comments weren’t justified. It’s just ironic
Fair enough...also, I missed the draisaitl hit.
Once again, whoever keeps calling them “Canada’s Team”…stop, do not want.
Saw an Oilers fan say Kulikov's hit was a "double superman punch to the face"... The team colored goggles are on a biiiit too tight.
No, just a 3 stride run with hands high in a game that was over. The “Florida special”.
Literally a textbook clean hit lol
I keep seeing Boston fans with stupid takes in this series. Finally remembered cats knocked you out so you guys are just mad about that series. You really shouldn't tell others they don't know hockey when you are so blinded from emotions.
I coached for 13 years and played for over 40. But go off.
Why would the number of strides matter? And the gloves are right in his chest.
Number of strides indicates a charging infraction.
Rule 42 on Charging doesn't say any such thing. In fact the word stride isn't written a single time in the NHL rulebook.
Distance travelled is. Strides is an indication of distance travelled.
So we're making up proxy variables that suit our definition? Neat!
It’s been a rule of thumb in hockey for the time I’ve been paying attention to it. Whether playing, reffing, or watching, the number of strides a player takes before laying a hit has been a topic of conversation for a long time. So **we** aren’t making it up. That proxy has existed long enough to be part of the fabric of the game.
Thats US Hockey rulebook. Not NHL.
> rule of thumb I wasn’t talking about rule books. But it is also part of the hockey Canada rule book. The IIHF one too I believe.
Maybe you guys should switch to soccer
If you don’t know that, you may be a Florida hockey fan….
I invite you to read rule 42 of the NHL rulebook on charging and to come back to me with the excerpt on number of strides. While you're in there, why not simply do a search for the word stride in the document. I'll wait.
I invite you to read my comment and identify where I said a charging penalty should assessed. Then stick your rule book where it belongs.
Wanna read NHL rulebook m8?
Wanna point out where I said a penalty should be assessed?
The game was over? Should've told everyone on the ice, cause they kept playing for a few minutes after that
I find it hilarious that Edmonton whines at triple the pace of anyone else..... And yet their players put out this trash!
Ryan did it in Vancouver on hoglander too with minimal call
And Edmonton calls this diving rofl
The Oilers’ signature move.
[yep](https://youtu.be/YJTx4AneEJE?feature=shared)
They need a more succinct call for trying to castrate a player, just to let everyone else know how much of a shitbag you really are. “He’s got 6 testicular minors this season. Keep your knees locked when he’s on the ice”
Well that was a dick move ….
He had balls to do that for sure.
Stick to the Kulikovs ouch
West Jest now charges a fee when you check a bag like that.
They're rattled, cats in 4
3
Cats in 2
I think they pull off one but they’re going to panic so god damn badly down the line. No way they win more than one game, they’re going to split at home in the best case scenario
Kulikov with an amazing hit and Carrick being a bitch
lol the oilers fans are steaming from the ears in this thread. Loving it. I’m playing the world’s smallest violin for you toxic shits.
Cheap ass salty loser
Can’t wait to watch these scums get swept
Missed 5+20 somehow
Putting On a clinic of the right way to do this vs the wrong way
"slashing"
The Derek Ryan special
Bitch move. Nobody knows this game better than the Panthers They're going to get their pound of flesh for Barkov and this bullshit
Not cool
What a moron, that's embarassing
Just dog shit from the oilers tonight. Shameful.
I never want to hear how Florida is so much dirtier again
Oilers showing they've always been 10 ply
I’ve known all along…
LMFAO love it
Member since 2017. First comment in 7 years. Lmao. Nice

Your flair looks like a hamster
Lol. He’s like “maybe if I’m a pussy, we’ll win.” Nope. I feel bad for the coach. He’s an actual badass.
Sheesh yikes
Sir, you seem to have lost your stick. Here! Borrow mine!
God damn, I’m sorry Kulikov I was unfamiliar with your game. Hard hit.
Edmonton needs to wake the hell up if they are going to win games. I get being frustrated and the penalty doesnt mean much but it shows just how much Florida is in their heads right now.
Sam "Nature Boy Ric Flair" Carrick
Drai taught him that one
Panthers in a sweep! 🐆
The cleanest team in hockey folks!
Carrick is a PoS
I’m both happy but pissed the rangers didn’t drag down to this level aside from Trouba. Edmonton is a whole other level of mentally weak
What a POS. Someone should teach this team to Play by the rules
lmao
Buddy please. I am a panthers fan, but let’s be honest, we aren’t the type that plays entirely by the rules.
Buddy please. Shut up
Give him the door man shot….be a bad mfer
Who the hell abbreviates Florida to "FLO"?
French Canadian broadcast apparently
Ahahahahahahah
Kulikovs hit. Leading with the elbow. Any defenders?
Can't describe what happened in the title cuz the post will get removed ig
Because you've been posting stupid editorialized titles all postseason. You should know the rules by now.
Out of curiosity, can you tell me what part of this title is a hot take and or wrong? https://preview.redd.it/fhsqzjqf1v5d1.png?width=636&format=png&auto=webp&s=af329de563c04f83fbfb638f329c881e124a4e34

I wasn't pushing a narrative, I described what happened. I'm cheering for the Oilers 100% here. What I said was objective.
Your suggested title essentially calls it a dirty hit. A non editorialized title is purely descriptive and allows the reader to draw their own conclusion.
He jumped (both feet off the ice) and hit his head. Seems his title was pretty factual unless you don't like the facts
My title was purely descriptive, its not my fault there was only 1 conclusion to draw from what happened💀 If a player swings his stick on another player's head baseball style am I supposed to title it "X catches Y's upper body with his stick"
Nasty work
Go post another 5 paragraphs about the Panthers ruining the sanctity of the game or some dumb shit.

Now everyone can see what we Canucks fans have been whining about 🫣😂🤪
That hit seems pretty high to me, can’t turn around and nut the guy tho
Straight to the chest is fine.
Hands didn’t get up high? Maybe I’m seeing things
You are
What kind of pussy hit is that. Why has hockey normalized these bullshit, arms up hits. Drop your shoulder and hit the guy in his chest properly. Doesn't justify the cup shot though. I don't blame him taking a wack at him after that but a cup shot is just not the one.

You can just say that you’re still upset instead of making shit up

This sub is delusional like they haven't just watched Florida pull the same shit all playoffs
You mean the team that knock out two players with elbows out of playoffs ? Pff, stop talking nonsense /s
No elbows from the rags either these playoffs. Clean as a whistle that team.
That’s cool man, and it was a tough series with many close games. But to think this hit where Kuli stays on his feet and puts his hands in the guys chest is the same as Drai leaving his feet to elbow Barkov in the jaw is either disingenuous or delusional.

Fair enough
Florida's recovery time is amazing
Still confused what Desharnais did to get the gate. Not that it matters anyway.
He high sticked Lorentz on purpose as he was skating by, they showed it on the ESPN feed
I either missed it, or Sportsnet didn't show it.
