I think biologically 27-29 might be the peak for humans, generally.
Usually athletes are in their peaks around these ages.
Though a healthy lifestyle can mitigate the effects of aging.
As a 37yr old that plays sports can confirm 27 is/was peak for me.
You're maybe not as fast as your were at 23, but all that experience lets you think the game so much better.
I still feel almost in my peak athletically at 29, though I'm much more careful nowadays in order to not mess up my ligaments etc.
I also feel more sore after playing sports like tennis and ⚽ than 10 years ago.
Now I'm just focusing on longevity and minimizing unnecessary risks.
Mentally I'm in my peak when it comes to sports, because I don't care about winning so much anymore so there's much less pressure.
On your last sentence for me it was a combination of not obsessing over winning, and just trying to win the next play/point. I still wanna win the game even now, but for me it was just about being happy with how I played when it was over. And yeah, it takes all the pressure off.
Yeah, I'll almost take playing great and losing over playing badly and winning.
Because statistically you'll eventually win more when you play great. Trust the process.
"First, my dream is to win the Stanley Cup, and I look at the organization, I look at the players, the whole roster, the staff and everybody, and I see that opportunity. And that's something that really, really excited me from the start when we saw that L.A. could be an option," Dubois said.
"… We're hockey players. Our job is to play and to compete on the ice and win hockey games, but you also go home. You also have time away from the rink, and the city of LA -- I've always been on the East Coast, I've always had the winters and I've always had the snow, but to be able to be in the city of LA is also something that really excites me. Eight years is a long time, but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind this is a great decision. This is the right decision for me to make."
I definitely believe the second part. Which is why I’m sure he was pissed he got traded. Gone are the beaches and palm trees, the endless girls in bikinis, the epic parties in downtown LA.
I wonder if Dubois could break Mike Sillinger's record of teams played for. I know Galchenyuk and Brassard got close, but I do think Dubois could have enough teams saying "I could fix him" that he moves around and he's young enough!
It would be ironic because it would be for the exact opposite reason as Sillinger. He played for so many teams because he was always a solid player and someone always wanted him instead of being a hot potato like Dubois.
he's on pace with Galchenyuk, and way ahead of Brassard so it's possible
get a couple of retentions in those 7 years and he could bounce around to any team
It's sad that only 2 teams can retain salary on a given player, it would have been funny watching every team throw in a 5% retention until he gets down to 50% cap hit
I feel pretty good about the transaction.
Caps gave up a backup goalie and added a top 6 forward who should put up 65pts given the amount of playing time he's going to get.
I'm not the one paying him so I don't really care how much he gets paid. Washington can afford a bad contract anyway.
If he plays out all 7 years, he will be 33 when his contract is over. Fits in well with Washington's transition from the Ovechkin era to the next gen.
I mean they just had their Kopitar and Danault equivalents leave the team in the past two years. He will be given a lot more opportunity and will have a higher chance of putting up that 63 pts in 73 games type season before he got to LA.
wut. He was [infinitely](https://x.com/JFreshHockey/status/1803506856754815224) better then [Kuznetsov](https://x.com/JFreshHockey/status/1764004472622084563).
People just see the name and that's it.
I'm with you, I don't think it's wrong to call him underperforming and I straight up don't believe he'll ever hit his hopeful ceiling, but I also don't know who people are expecting us to attract at this point, Draisaitl? In my mind, he's the Little Caesars of centers, he's hot and he's ready. Nobody claimed he was good.
Yeah you can't compare PLD to elite 1C in the league because he isn't and never has been.
However, nobody doubts that he can be a good/serviceable 2C. That alone would make him Washington's most productive player.
This past season Strome was Washington's top scorer with 67 points. PLD playing top6 minutes should be able to get over 60 again. That means he steps into Washington as one of their best players and it means that next year's team is better than this year's was.
If they can add another weapon on the wing thru FA/TRADE then he'll be even more likely to succeed.
Washington can't do a direct replacement for Ovechkin and Backstrom. It has to be by committee and depth scoring. They need a lot of contributors generating offense.
Nobody should expect a 90pt season from PLD. But 60+ should be possible if he's on a top line in Washington. Is that good for a 1C? Of course not. But it's a lot better than Washington had there before the trade and it means they can roll 3 scoring lines with Strome and Lapierre on the other 2.
I think he'll do well in Washington contrary to popular opinion.
I think his failures in LA were due to a bad fit with the system, not so much entirely due to him being lazy or bad.
80+ points for PLD next season is my prediction.
He's gonna say he's too good for them in 5 months and will be on another team come the season after so why should we give a fuck what this washed player says?
Man these GMs live in a weird little mindset world
He just turned 26 there's no more 'potential'
There are only like 5 players ever even who have appeared to peak after 26 but the examples are all nuanced
Like jason pominville staying on par scoring wise but his possession stats took a sharp upturn
Sure PLD could sort of galvanize in ways and become more valuable, but to word it as if he's a prospect is bizarre
Someone let PLD know that he won't be assisting on many Ovi goals from the 4th line. Unless he finds his motivation inside his Pizza Hut delivery this summer, why would any of us expect something different out of this guy?
Kinda hard to believe, but he just turned 26.
That is actually stunning to me for some reason
As a fellow summer 98 baby we aren't that old yet. Next year we will be old turning 27

I'm older than him? Wtf
The world tour continues.
This is going to ruin the tour
What tour?
Tour Du Bois
Tour Du Farce
The Errors Tour
Pierre Luc Dubois' Revenge Tour
It’s like the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour, except less championships and presumably less flirting with Dominik Mysterio.
Good with the bad I guess lol
Kick him off the tour, Doug!
With stops in every city but Montreal
Happy to keep it that way
2025- Dubois couldn’t be more ecstatic to be a Canuck
You shut your mouth
It’s only joke sorry :(
“We can fix him”
It never works, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but ... But it might work for us.
Has one of these type guys ever been fixed? I mean maybe Kane in Edmunton kinda? But besides that…
We fixed Kassian too.
He’s a hell of a Puckdoku answer as soon as he hits the ice for the Caps.
>*Dubois ‘couldn’t be more excited’ following trade to Bruins from Capitals* - NHL.com, circa June 2025
Dubois ‘couldn’t be more excited’ following move to HC CSKA Moscow of the KHL after departure from Bruins NHL.com, circa June 2026
“My whole life I’ve always dreamed about playing with Malmo Redhawks” - Dubios circa June 2027
"There's just something special about getting to play for Kunlun Red Star"
god please no
It's okay, we all only have to deal with it for a season.
It's a new rite of passage.
Dubois is on a mission to play for every team
Straight to jail!
I’m getting deja vu
This is getting to be like the yearly Ekblad is injured news
When she's with you?
deja vubois

Confirmed Piere luc Dubois you are a Canuck next year!
We suffered long enough, let us enjoy some happiness for a couple years.
How dare you

Did PLD inspire a Taylor Swift song?
*haters gonna hate hate i gotta shake it off* (HURLS) why the fuck did I type that
Nah, "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)" on her new album. But PLD totally thinks it's "Shake it off".
Place ya bets Who’s the next poor team gonna think that and trade for him lol
4 down, 28 to go.
Deja vu! I've just been in this place before
Higher on the street
Watch this guy is going to have an insane twilight career run and snag like four cups with three teams on some Pat Maroon shit
The reverse Corey Perry
and he will be just as excited when he is traded the next time.
Dubois: Next stop Detroit!
That doesn’t sound like Draisaitl
I believe him. There's nothing he likes more than forcing his way to a different team
PLD really just puts his entire yearly salary worth of effort into his PR game
Where have I heard this before...?
> Dubois has immense potential In your late 20s, potential is like your bank balance. Always less than you think.
If his potential was like his bank balance he’d probably be putting up 100 points
I’m a certified Dubois hater but in an effort to make the best of it I hope he does well under carberry
Certified trade maker Certified Dubois hater WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP Dubois shiftn up WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP he packn up
Tryna sign a forward And its prolly a CENTEEERRRRRRRRR
God Kdot literally made a meme with his song, can use it for anything

We just got out of Kuznetsov, I’m not happy about the prospect of getting Kuznetsov II
He's not as good as Kuznetsov
Kuznetsov got like 30 points this season so that’s not ideal
wut. He was [infinitely](https://x.com/JFreshHockey/status/1803506856754815224) better then [Kuznetsov](https://x.com/JFreshHockey/status/1764004472622084563). People just see the name and that's it.

He's going to be the first player to play on every team.
I feel like I've seen this headline organized slightly differently before.
Wasn’t it a “dream come true” to play for the Kings last summer?
who gets him the next season?
The real path to getting Quebec City and Hartford back is this dude running out of teams, which forces the league to expand
When he runs out of teams Pierre Luc Dubois can’t be more excited to join Kunlun RedStar
If Columbus hires McClellan, is it like some weird circle of life thing going on here
Personally I think the caps made a good move here
There's no way he's more excited about the trade than I am
I think he'll do well in Washington contrary to popular opinion. I think his failures in LA were due to a bad fit with the system, not so much entirely due to him being lazy or bad. 80+ points for PLD next season is my prediction.
I think it's both. He's lazy, but la kings system was really bad for him. Tbh the caps play a similar system and style. It may not be a good marriage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po4adxJxqZk
Hmmmmm
He's not exactly gonna do a Berlusconi.. of course he's gonna say he's excited to be there.
yeah great cant wait to hear about how excited he is to be traded to san jose or wherever in a year or two
I wouldn’t jinx it he could be a penguin after one year in Washington lol
Bro is more like Harry Dubois at this point
!remindsme 1 year
trade deadline
It’s been his life long dream
Even Mike Sillinger had only played on 3 teams by the age of 26 👀
PLB - most entitled asshat to play in the NHL
Just in: After a disappointing 4th place finish in the World Championships, Pierre Luc-Dubois has requested a trade to Czechs.
Hey ive seen this one before
Dubois is that crappy item that gets passed around at white elephants
For how long?
That’s cool and it is good for him, but seriously, when are we firing Rob Blake?
💼
I wonder how Ovir will respond if he sees PLD give up on plays or fuck up.
He's gonna say he's too good for them in 5 months and will be on another team come the season after so why should we give a fuck what this washed player says?
This guy is such a knob
Man these GMs live in a weird little mindset world He just turned 26 there's no more 'potential' There are only like 5 players ever even who have appeared to peak after 26 but the examples are all nuanced Like jason pominville staying on par scoring wise but his possession stats took a sharp upturn Sure PLD could sort of galvanize in ways and become more valuable, but to word it as if he's a prospect is bizarre
they could see someone like jt miller, hitting 100 points at 31, thinking they can do the same, then realize, its not the team it’s the player
Someone let PLD know that he won't be assisting on many Ovi goals from the 4th line. Unless he finds his motivation inside his Pizza Hut delivery this summer, why would any of us expect something different out of this guy?
