My male tried that last weekend. Grabbed the mouse with tongs and wiggled it. Pissed him right off. He pulled the mouse back into his tube, ate it, then buried himself in his aspen for about 48 hours. Was super funny.
Haha she hates the tongs, though I did try that this time (wiggling, booped her in the snoot with it) she just full cobered up and threw a fit about it. She’ll have to wait until next week now. The punk herself:

Both mine hate the tongs too. My females feeding response is so great that she don’t care and will eat off them or chase the food being held by them. I can pick her up and move her mid meal also. If she’s eating there’s only one thing her brain can think about.
Haha mine won’t strike the mouse if tongs are in the viv. Sometimes she’ll strike at the mouse immediately as the food tube is placed in, but if there are tongs anywhere nearby, she will have none of it. Luckily the breeder warned me right when I got her at two months old to just drop feed her!
Yeah that’s what i do too. My male it has to be his idea and he has to hunt and find it or he will pass right by, cute little nose in the air. Neither of my hoggies strike at their food. They just find it, open their mouth, and start chewing until they find an end that fits down the hatch.
Mine won't look twice at food until I pick it up with the tongs, which he hates and hisses at until I drop it in front of his face. He doesn't so much strike at it as open wide and slowly encompass it with his mouth.
You missed E) lunge at first mouse, miss it but constrict it with your body and then look around for the missing mouse. Then lunge at a second mouse while holding the first one. Actually catch that one, in the middle, and spend 15 minutes trying to figure out what end to start with. After you finally finish your first mouse you realize there’s a yummy 3rd mouse (actually the first mouse you missed but who’s counting) and finally proceed to eat that mouse.
Then you look at your human and demand a mouse because you haven’t been fed in years!
Bro my lil dude popcorn kept striking the mouse without holding on yesterday. He was slowly skinning the mouse. Till its leg fell off then he decided it was food.
Harleen has definitely decided head first… however… she does **try** sideways 😂

Mine always goes for it sideways. He won’t eat off the tongs (that’s when I get a hissy fit) but I put a tiny flat dish in his tank, find him, and then show him the mouse on the dish and it’s somehow gone in seconds.
My hoggie doesn't know how to use a microwave to heat her food so she bites it sideways and then manually rotates it around with her mouth.
I mean that sounds like a good bar trick, if you don't want to tie the cherry stem in a knot with your tongue.
My absolute genius piece of caution tape just took two swings, missing both, before slowly and gently appoaching head first opening his mouth and biting gently.
All correct, except B haha, that’s a last resort. Moa has recently discovered a new option of shove mouse out of tube, sit happily in tube.
