If you’re wanting to use battery-wifi cameras for anything other than a hobby (inconsistent animal/person footage) or to supplement a proper camera setup (wired IP cameras) then you’re going to be disappointed and have a bad time OP.
Source:I have these Eufy cameras. Yell out if you need specifics.
I have some eufy cameras I got for a great price. I like them. You can adjust the type of motion from all motion or just human, you can even pick specific areas to pick up motion as well as adjust the level of sensitivity. I personally haven't had any issues with them, the battery life lasts weeks, I can talk through them and check on my dogs or kiddos when they are in the yard as well.
Thank you for this. We use Eufy cameras because we got 4 free when we got our alarm system, the alarm is through alarm.com. we'll it was through a guy who sells that stuff and eufy and other shit. But it was a great deal and we've been happy with it. Eufy cams are so expensive and I want to replace my blink door bell and add more cameras around the house, so this helps me a lot in deciding if I'm adding more eufy cams or going another route. We don't have any inside, but I like having the outside monitored, and also enjoy being able to check on my kids and dogs outside. It's just difficult because it seems like everything security related has an equal amount of positive and negative stuff and then the costs can be huge and we work on a tight budget. So thank you again for sharing this.
No worries, I use wyze cameras, but always go into any kind of camera device that connects to the internet with the assumption someone can access it, others might disagree and thus the down votes, but clearly eufy was doing it, they aren't the first and won't be the last.
Makes sense, it's not difficult to hack the average persons wifi network, hell for many people it's not difficult to hack a wifi network of someone with more than a basic knowledge.
Eufy is Anker. Their commitment to privacy is laughable at best.
Can you explain? They encrypt the still images from notifications now
This is r/homedefense… All dependencies are threats.
True and that’s only what we know about them
If their firmware or apps aren’t open source then this means literally nothing.
What do you recommend instead?
Anything that is not cloud dependent and you can put on a closed or air gapped network.

Do you have it set to all motion or just human detection?

Eufy is crap. Had them since they were in Kickstarter. Quality is poor, almost every one is permanently foggy, and they frequently lose connection.
I would stay away from Eufy. With Nest, you could toggle it to only notify for Human motion.
You can do that with the eufy cams too. What reasons do you have for not liking eufy?
Probably their shady privacy practices https://www.theverge.com/23573362/anker-eufy-security-camera-answers-encryption

Those are old model. If it’s not too late, get the latest model 3.
I have eufy as well. On the app there are settings for that
I have 6 of them and they work great
