Is it horizon? Horizon likes to charge a fortune and add a bunch of warranties youll never use. I ask because someone i know had theirs done for 20k, which is probably double what he should have paid.
Edit: saw that its for ac AND furnace. It sounds reasonable but id still get a few quotes
We just paid roughly the same amount for similar set up, however ours included 5K to upgrade our electricity. Do you need electrical upgrades as well ?
The size of your house comes into play also when shopping for a new HVAC.
Definitely shop around a little more if you can. Iām also not familiar with the brand of system.
Reliability is huge when it comes to this type of investment, along with the reputation of the contractor.
Good luck!š
Itās probably a home size thing. I paid more than you by double in Portland, but I have a house twice the size I did in the Bay Area and it has large windows, high ceilings, and skylights.. all things that factor in.
I just got a quote, as our HVAC is approaching end of life in the next couple years. Quoted around $12k (Tennessee, so hot humid summers, mild winters)
This is for a packaged unit, so heating and cooling
Ensure it has a good warranty on parts and labor, ducts are sized correctly for unit b4 install, company will stand behind it, and your unit is sized correctly with jsd calculations. Amana has 10 yr parts warranties.
I can't speak on that specific brand but the trane runtru Brand you're a little over $3,000 in parts. Depending on where you're install is and if they have to run all new lines for the condenser, I could see some labor but you're only talking, maybe a one-day job. Some of these HVAC guys are printing money simply because they can
You can try looking around but it also depends on how many of them are in your area. If there aren't that many people doing the work, they can charge whatever they want
If they are just doing a direct swap and replace it's not a difficult thing to do. Where you can start getting the big quotes is if they have to replace ductwork.
I guess the breakdown would probably be something like, parts cost, 3K, 3x Mark up 9k, 3K in labor, 12K. You figure there are probably going to be two guys working an 8 to 10 hour day at 150 an hour each so I can get to 12 but I'm not sure how you get to 16. Maybe they are doing 4x markup on the parts? That or planning on two days of labor
Just paid $10.5k for a 3 ton York split unit to replace my 25 years old Carrier. No ductwork needed. Got three quotes for the best reviewed places in town (Cullman AL), and they all were right at the same price.
I did twenty years in the can and these north Jersey cocksuckers think they can go around making 16k quotes and cut me out? The gabagool on these shitbags.
That's a fairly high end 16 seer unit, the only one higher is the inverter compressor unit. All the equipment is "communicating" which should be used with a communicating thermostat for better control of the equipment. I would say that's a fair price for what you are getting.
Got a new TraneRunTru 120k 95% Furnace and 14 seer 4 ton AC installed in Pittsburgh for 6700 late last fall. Got 5 quotes from 6200 to 14k for modulating everything 20seer blah blah from Lennox/Costco.
Sounds reasonable. I'm nearby in NY and paid ~$11k to replace a 3 ton AC with a 3 ton 16 SEER heat pump. Minimal duct work. Since yours includes a furnace, I assume that's a reasonable price, but I would for sure get a few more quotes. My quotes ranged from $10k to $14k.
It really amazes me how much labor costs for stuff like this. The most complex part of an HVAC system (to me) is getting the duct work to size assuming the cabinet sizes are different. I replaced my entire HVAC system in a weekend (to code), and there was nothing difficult about it.
Buddy got one quote and hopped on Reddit instead of being an adult and getting multiple quotes to compare what makes sense for him. Do you ask strangers to wipe your ass for you also?
What do the other bids you got quote you?
How is this still a thing in this sub just to get one quote and open Reddit right after you close the door on the first salesman?
the average person who posts an op on reddit is breathtakingly clueless
To be fair I posted about the same thing a month or so ago; and DID get 3 quotes; 17k was just the lowest one š¤£š

Its not Horizon, it is small local business so I don't want to mention their name here.
Get more quotes.

Itās actually cheaper than what I paid in Pdx, but Iām convinced my zip code unfairly gets a price markup lol
I paid 15.5K two years ago for two 2-ton 16 SEER Trane units. I dont think ur quote is outrageous, but i dont know that brand. Also, in North Jersey
I recently got quoted 11K for a Carrier 3.5 ton 16 SEER system and gas furnace. Included new ductwork and zone system too. This is in Atlanta though.
Oh man. That guy want a plane ticket?

Reasonable. Might be able to beat it by a bit (maybe 12-13k?), but really depends on how complex the install is.

That seems like a lot. Iām in the Bay Area of ca and our home did not have AC at all and the whole thing cost about 10k 2 years ago.

Oh yeah I have a āCalifornia homeā itās like one level and 1200 square feet.
Prices have changed I payed 4700 in 2019 with everything he quoted, but I am in Memphis
Iād do a Navien direct vent unit over a traditional boiler, fwiw. You can get a combi and replace your water heater as well.

Please make sure that the replacement unit qualifies for the new tax credit
Just replaced mine in the Jersey shore area for 13.5. Single family three bedroom

Temp star is pretty barebones but mines still humming after 18 years on spit, duct tape and prayers.
Get tons of quotes. HVAC companies are notorious for ripping off people.
I paid $6900 cash for a 3.0 Ton 14.8 SEER furnace and heat pump last month. Obviously not a gas furnace though and located in Ohio.

upload your quote to [hvac.com/quotescore](http://hvac.com/quotescore) and see if it's fair for your area and your house
Ill so it for 10,000 cash. Its a very topical NJ price

I just got a new finance, water heater in the Chicago area and it was $8600
