I have a Pulte home, which is their premium brand. There's Centex homes in my neighborhood too. Really, the same contractors work on both brands, so it's not like you're going to get any kind of enhanced workmanship (or sloppier workmanship) between both brands, it's more about what the baseline is for the addons you get (granite counter tops, more architecturally complex floorplans, more premium elevations, etc.) As with all builders though, the contractors they use locally, and the site foreman are like, 80% of what makes or breaks these houses. The A/C contractors they use are a big issue since they can kinda cheap out or sloppily hook everything up and then leave it up to you to fight with the builder over the warranty terms. I am very particular about my A/C in Houston. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Recommendations are different depending on whether you are getting a home built or buying it used. In both cases though, you need to get it inspected by your own person. And don't be afraid to pay a $75 service fee to also have an A/C company come out and inspect for leaks.

If we go with it I will surly get it inspected. Thanks for the info.

I have a Centex home, built back in.. 09? 2010? Somewhere around there. Things to keep an eye on: If you do anything a little unique in your home design, it can screw up other areas. I went with all hardwood flooring, and for some reason this caused a problem with my doorframes. They didn't reach all the way down to the hardwood and there was a 1/3" gap. I asked them to fix it, and they just put in a shim that mostly matches, but you can tell it was done after the fact. At the time they refused to do things like wire a house for internet. I wanted CAT5 run to each room, but the only way they'd do it was for phone lines where they terminated up in the attic. I wanted them all dropped down to a wiring closet, they wouldn't do that. Wound up having to do it myself during construction while it was framed up. Get a second opinion on the sizing for your AC system. Just replaced my system for the first time, and they said my previous system was slightly undersized in a few places, specifically the air intake wasn't large enough for the tonnage of my system. Recommendation: They had the option for a rear gas hookup. Take it! Very useful.

Yeah my parents have rear gas hookup and love it!

Sorry, we are only interested in container homes around here.

I looked at Centex homes last year and they are a complete rip off for the price. They nickle and dime you for everything. The 175k house they were advertising was well over 200k with all the features that would make it decent. I bought from Express homes (DR Horton) and couldn't be happier.

Just bought a centex home, no issues with the process or build yet but itโ€™s still all very new less than 2 months
