*All You Need is Kill* (the light novel *Edge of Tomorrow* was based on) really nailed it by making the Mimics completely alien, but surprisingly genetically similar to starfish.
Starfish don't have legs in the traditional sense, but they manage to get around just fine thanks to hundreds (or even thousands depending on the species) of tiny appendages called tube feet. These amazing little feet are located on the underside of the starfish's arms and are powered by a water vascular system that acts like a hydraulic system.
It wasn't anything much really, I was chilling on the beach with my family when I reached my hand down at the bottom and felt a peculiar feeling, lifted my hand up above the water and a starfish was stationed on top of it. I was so surprised that I threw it back into the ocean, never to be seen again.
The feel was as stated above, peculiar, think of a large insect or arachnid climbing on your body, then combine that feeling with sucking and you have the starfish.
There is some scientists predict that starfishes and octopuses will evolved to be able to survive on land(particularly swam or beaches)in around several thousand of years. I see where they coming from.
I love to see ocean life but a few years ago I was out in Sanibel island (Florida) and there were these star fish EVERYWHERE. After admiring them I got in the water only to be feeling them all over in the sand. I got so creeped out I had to get out. I haven’t seen any since and honestly it took me some courage to go back in the water after that experience
Was in Antigua on a beach and saw some kids playing with a starfish like this, but they wouldn’t put it back in the water. It walked off their hand and I dove down to get it and then swam away from them to put the little guy further out away from the beach so it could walk in private. Wildest starfish I ever saw moving without time lapse photography

I used to think of it as an adorable creature, now I'll think of it as an alien
Most sea life is so fascinating that it really is an alien world.
That's funny, before I opened the comments, I just said to my wife, "I used to think starfish were cute, but now I know they're nightmare fuel"
HEAR ME OUT-
NOOOO DONT LET BRO COOK
CEO of Cooking here. Bro is hereby banned from the kitchen.
I'm a woman and I want this thing tickle my pussy 🤤
My sister in Christ...
They don't even have fucking eyes
Ah, I see. That is acceptable. Carry on, ma'am. You may resume cooking.
![gif](giphy|UbFOI4HXMHfgDHwyGB|downsized)
Lmaooooo
They're more closely related to us than we are to insects.
It is an alien, the hint is in the name.
...🤯 lol
It can be an adorable alien :D
I was like, yeah interesting for sure, but something I could have lived without seeing.
They put their digestive organ outside their body to break down prey then bring it back inside.
No good for you then. ![gif](giphy|jKaFXbKyZFja0)
An adorable creature that wears bright green shorts, lives under a rock, and is best friends with a sponge.
*All You Need is Kill* (the light novel *Edge of Tomorrow* was based on) really nailed it by making the Mimics completely alien, but surprisingly genetically similar to starfish.
I won't see Patrick the same way again.
I’m sorry SpongeBob
That comic is etched into my brain.
Gotta check out the Bikini Bottom Horror. Pretty well written comic with cool art 👀
Stop💀 can you imagine if it was accurate

Makes me think of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books and The Luggage with it's many feet
The luggage!!! Thank you for reminding me of how much I loved Ringworld. It’s one of the best.
Discworld.
Yes. Ringworld, as we all know, is the Molly Ringwald Cinematic Universe.
imagine those "feet" walking on your back lol

Starfish just wanted to say hi and you flung it back in the ocean??? 😭
Did you say sucking? Tell us more about please
Sounds like tentacle shit…
No
Tube feet? They really thought outside the box when naming that one.
you mean outside the tube
Yo quiero Tuber Bell
The technical term is "podia".
That's not true everyone knows a starfish walks on two tips. Look at Patrick
This could go nicely on r/oddlyterrifying
r/nope
Why is it in such a hurry? Where's it going?
To a clam bake
Obviously to the ladies house in the comments that want it to tickle her pussy.
Shopping. The local shops close soon.
Not okay
Lmao
Suddenly I want to pour Head and Shoulders on it.
My hair used to be dry and lifeless. Now when I use head and shoulders, my hair is wet and moving
Oooooooohhhhh IRA!
[i believe i understood that reference](https://i.gifer.com/U3Fi.gif)
I may have watched that movie too many times. I can't still get over it being a whole head & shoulders add
Why does every single foot seem to abhor touching the sand?
It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
Like the luggage
Exactly what I was reminded of too.
If a centipede had a nightmare
I call this fake news, I have seen Sponge Bob... You can't trick me!
I'm creeped out. No thanks. This gives me insect shivers.
r/dontPutYourDickInThat
But imagine how it would feel. Unless they have teeth…do starfish have teeth??
Asking the real questions over here
Sea urchins do. Starfish just have a hole through which they evert their stomach.
Tell us more... Asking for a friend
Get this poor lost soul back in the water man
Came here for this… like am I the only person who can see it suffering? Let’s hold a guy underwater and film him trying to get to the surface. Neat! 😂
Burn it with fire
How sped up is this? Anyone know?
![gif](giphy|RiVhCRrAckgkPT6D8S|downsized)
How do they SEE though?
How do I unsee something?
That looks like so much effort
Well done, that is in fact interesting as fuck
“Oooh hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot”
Interesting I've never seen this before.
That's kinda freaky lookin.
I could’ve gone my whole life without seeing this.
Well.....that's scary as hell
What planet did it come from?
Looks like slugs having a 5-some.
Mmmm. Don't like that
+1 nightmare fuel, enter sandman😭
That is not a real creature
THEY CAN FUCKING WALK???
Whelp, that’s enough Reddit this morn. ![gif](giphy|KdIQmGHj5XfEY)
I think he’s lost. Treasure hunting.
No doubt pulled out of the water by whoever filmed this.
don't let it catch you
That’s even more gross than how I guessed they moved! Yikes! I think I’m done going to beaches.
Nope
So they walk with their feet like a normal animal would.
Oh, ok. Bye.
This gave me the heebiejeebies
![gif](giphy|Wvh1de6cFXcWc)
![gif](giphy|eK7JF5A803QXGCcCtK|downsized)
I've never seen that before.. so awesome!
Jeah that's not creepy at all..
This is how it feels lying in bed on acid.
Tell us more
Everything intense, tingling, feeling like you’re moving all over like a wave, even breathing feeling like a new experience.
The Ultimate Vibrator
Nothing but arms and legs.
*Arms and feet 💪🦶🌟 ;)
That’s not how Patrick walks.
I discovered this from that one Courage the Cowardly dog episode where Muriel goes mute
Wait, are we back to ~~starfish~~ ~~seastar~~ starfish again?
I can't even manage my own 2 feet. He must be really superior.
No... no. r/TIHI
Octopuses and starfish are aliens lol
![gif](giphy|KH9dcFmqH2OkZ2aStL)
Thanks, I hate it.
There is some scientists predict that starfishes and octopuses will evolved to be able to survive on land(particularly swam or beaches)in around several thousand of years. I see where they coming from.
*No, this is Patrick*
Bros on his way to the Krusty Krab
That banana skin wrong
I loved that movie evolution
Looks like a bunch of little drunks carrying him.
Now imagine this thing the size of a any common land animal. Lovecraftian horror right there.
He’s looking for WATER.
Face hugger?
Is this timelapse?
No, this is Patrick.
Terribly adorable
No, THIS. IS. PATRICK!
Looks like each leg wants to go somewhere else.
never realized i could be afraid of a starfish
Alright... I'm done with reddit for the day.
So Patrik was just a lie? 😭
Guys. We need a hellbomb, stat.
I imagine their brains making the sound “neneneneneneeeeneneeneenenenenene”
thanks I hate it
Dude nah
Now starfish make my skin creep thanks.
Haha what the fuck
Creeping me out 😭
I no longer like starfish
I've never seen Patrick walk like this.
My sleepy ass read that as "How starfish wank"
Imagine being a clam and this thing is coming straight for you
I dub thee Sam Rockwell!
![gif](giphy|XIBqUqXI9guly)
Sorry, but ewww gross 🫣🥴

Looks exhausting
Sand dollars have something similar

That's just walking with too many extra steps.
*How starfish walksssssssssssssssssssssssssssss*
Big nope
Proof that aliens walk among us
This doesn’t seem very efficient why did it evolve like this
OK. What would you do to improve the efficiency of a starfish's running speed?
Idk fuckin roll around like sonic or some shit anything seems better than this
Why running? She could be sliding too, and in this case 4-5 wheels will do the job... easy peasy
Kinda looks like spaghetti squash lol
I thought they weren't alive
They're animals. They are alive until they die.
Now ik, somehow I thought they were like seashells or smth like that
