I'm guessing that was a small dog since it only caused minor injuries and most victims were bitten in their legs. How did it manage to get 11 people 😆.Â
People in Japan only ever seem to own tiny yappy fucks. There’s the occasional shiba, but other than them you could add all of the dogs I see on my morning commute together and you still wouldn’t have one proper sized dog between them.
I swear at least half the dogs I see are Shiba Inu.
The local puppy shop closed down so I became a bit happier after seeing the little pups wearing diapers all day sit in their glass houses.
It might have to do with space for some places. I'm way outside of Tokyo. Not that anyone has a yard like America though. Gotta watch out for all the little poops scattered on the sidewalks that people don't pick up occasionally. Probably night time walkers, but I've also seen like spaced out poops like they didn't wait for their dog to finish.
Anecdotal, but 2 of my neighbors when I was near Yokohama had big dogs. I know one was some sort of Wolf Hound and was the nicest horse I'd ever met, lol
This is an American news source, not a Japanese one. There's only three regions in Japan for much of the world: north of Tokyo, west of Tokyo, and Tokyo.
Nah, it’s fine. I’m from Maine, and sometimes it’s just easier to tell Japanese people that I lived north of NYC. You can’t expect Americans to know every prefecture, and you can’t expect Japanese to know every state.
And rightly so. Most people in most countries - by a gulping margin - wouldn’t be able to locate globally unimportant cities in other countries. Why is Japan different in importance here for Redditors?
Fucking hell. I hope those children are alright, nothing too major. I keep seeing dog attacks pop up in the UK subreddit as well. Odd coincidence I suppose.
I remember a Tosa got loose in the countryside and they sent out a taskforce of volunteers, animal control and police to find the dog lol. This one's probably a cutie yappy dog, kids go towards it to pet it and it bites back
Rabies? That's got to be risk from a dog that is biting so many people
"The brains of animals with rabies deteriorate. As a result, they tend to
behave bizarrely and often aggressively, increasing the chances that they
will bite another animal or a person and transmit the disease." Wikipedia

Shikoku ken so medium sized dog.
How do you know it was a Shikoku ken ? That’s a hunting breed, and can be medium size to big.
Japanese news is quicker to report. They've already talked to the owner.
I see. I used to own one, so it peaked my interest.
Damn i wouldve caught it

Me too. Idk why this person says there are only occasionally shibas. I see ALOT. But maybe depends on your area.

Grinding their insta and YouTube accounts
Come to Hokkaido if you want to see big dogs. My Bernese is 50kg.
Sorry, the animal in question is a dog, not a horse
Mostly Hokkaido ken up here.
It depends on where you live. I see so many shibas around me. Probably half of them.
Gotta go to Akita
Maybe in Tokyo, yes. But the countryside has a lot more medium to large sized dogs, oftentimes complete mutts.

Collective failure to kick it into the sky like a rugby ball.
It’s a pretty big dog actually, they showed it on the news
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a stray dog in the city. Hope they have a good recovery.
Isezaki city in Gunma prefecture is "north of Tokyo"!? Bitch wtf. Try north of SAITAMA

Yeah we should expect better though and it won't happen if we just give them a pass

It's not "better" for their intended audience. Most Americans have never heard of Saitama.
And rightly so. Most people in most countries - by a gulping margin - wouldn’t be able to locate globally unimportant cities in other countries. Why is Japan different in importance here for Redditors?
Saitama isn't even merely globally unimportant; it's locally unimportant.
They don't say Saitama. Don't say Tokyo either. Just say Japan then
Is it necessary to speak so foul language?

Some of us just like to keep things wholesome around here. Is there anything wrong with that?
Is it necessary for you to try and tone police people?
I get why this made news in japan. What I don't get is why it then became news in america.
Fucking hell. I hope those children are alright, nothing too major. I keep seeing dog attacks pop up in the UK subreddit as well. Odd coincidence I suppose.
Except those dogs are XL Bullies and kill people.
Right! I forgot that detail.
I remember a Tosa got loose in the countryside and they sent out a taskforce of volunteers, animal control and police to find the dog lol. This one's probably a cutie yappy dog, kids go towards it to pet it and it bites back
People hoping it was not an immigrant dog in 3… 2… 1…
Poor guy was almost halfway to Tactical Nuke before the cops got ‘em
Slow news day. Man bites dog, news at 11.
biwook out here doing Dog’s work
This is a daily occurrence in Nara with deer
Stray Dog, Nagare Inu, is a great Japanese movie
I hope the dog didn’t have rabies and the kids are okay.
Let’s guess: you’re Americans living in Dasaitama….. No God or Ned here. Kiwi. Classier. Chur bro
