Reminds of a brazillian purple belt at our gym that enjoyed jumping into dangerous armlocks that gave no time to tap and then said we had to tap before even though he gave us no time to tap before he injured our elbow joint.
Getting injured isnt worth anyones opinion.
If you dont want to roll with him, dont. No one here l nor there pays your bills, you need no explanation or approval.
No.
Source: I need ACL surgery from training with a spaz and I’ll be out for almost a year. It’s rather difficult to function in life with one leg, much less train.
I would do this. The coaches might have to roll with this kid to get an idea where his head is at. If this kid is coming in with thoughts of a mma/ufc career he might hurt other people too. The coaches just might “work it out of him”. Don’t let this kid hurt you or anyone else.
Jitsu at least for me is about leaving your comfort zone.
Leave your comfort zone and tell him to his face that you dont wanna roll with him bc x y z or simply say “no im not rolling with you”
reddit isnt your mom or dad and I dont mean that in a disrespectful way. Tell him off if you are confident you are right
I have 2 guys I don’t roll with anymore. Both vastly larger than me. One of them cracked 4 of my ribs the other likes to ignore when people tap.
Nobody realizes that it’s a privilege to roll with other people.
If he’s a 16 yo all star wrestler, he likely has little-to-no grasp of flow rolling or hobbyist training. Wrestling is more about speed and strength, so his pace may be a bit intimidating. I doubt he’s trying to hurt you, he just has had testosterone for like only 3 years and wrestling training emphasizes going faster and harder than the other. Pull guard, avoid wrestle ups, find a way to mitigate the ankle locks.
Once this guy threw me off the mat into the metal visitor bench. I cracked my head open and bled all over. That was the last time I rolled with that dude idgaf what anyone thinks. Buddy got mad that I shut down all his attacks and when I caught him in closed guard he stood up, spun me and threw me off the mat. Jiujitsu is rough but that doesn't mean injure your teammates on purpose.
One time I joined a Judo gym as a very obvious beginniner and on my second day there a wrestler suplex'd me onto the back of my head and knocked me out, I ended up having to go to the ER. They could not find signs of a concussion but I've had recurring migraines ever since
Do wrestlers just have something to prove or what lol
Roll with or not whoever you want. If you don’t like rolling with the guy then don’t. There’s a young guy at my gym that rips my head off every time we roll (I’m 51) so I quit rolling with him. Guys like that usually end up without a training partner.
This is exactly the reason I also try to roll with older people. Usually on the same page about not being able to afford not to work for months at a time.
Myself and my good friend, who is a world class black belt, were talking about how we are both way more picky with whom we roll with now, than we were when we were white, blue, and even purple belts. Over 14 years of training, we have seen so many people come and go. Some due to injury bc of a physical specimen who is also spazzy and thinks they have something to prove. Others, bc of ego, and some we have no clue. He and I, used to be among the mat enforcers, but now we let the massive black belts do it, bc he is 5'8" 170ish and I'm 5'5" 137ish
This the way.. why so many people saying not to roll with him wth… not on some ego shit but if you’re just picking who you’re rolling with you’re going to get far. Plus there’s other ways to work it out. Cmon OP
Rolling with black belts that use BJJ or even any other colored belts I have amazing rolls with, really everyone else.. but this guy is actually trying to hurt me
That’s why your not man enough to talk to a 16 year old. Settle down bud, seems your the one who has problems. We train leg and foot attacks from the start. So I know when to tap and counter
Slight kick in the part where he hold your leg.
In dat middle.
Then his leg log is dead.
Didn't work ?
Slightly crack kick.
Now it's gone.
Recover position. He won't play leg lock long
Dont roll with him. He’s just one of those bullies who always feel good trying to rip someone out , and apparently he locked it into you. But you can also try talking with your coach and learn how to defend his attack and better off do the same thing on him.
I tell these little who can run around in a circle faster wrestlers I don't want to roll with them all the time. Politely of course. But I know I'm not advanced enough to stop injury due to hormonal stupidity.
Probably not the advice you want but might be what you need… you should roll with them more and learn how to defend the moves instead of coming to Reddit. All love 🤙
Then don’t roll with him
This. Plenty of meatheads in the gym that I don't roll with for various reasons.
Don’t roll with someone you don’t want to roll with. Also start drilling SLX and late stage footlock escapes and smash his face in.
This is the way.
Run him over in the parking lot
😂
You stole my previous name
I ![gif](giphy|zOlog7jgIIFfq)
Hahahha
I rolled with a meathead and fucked up my elbow for two weeks out of an armbar. Just don’t roll with them and save yourself the trouble honestly.

Yeah this guy was really quick to just rip and didn’t care either. I hear the little baby pops before anything majorly damaging happened but like man.
Are you part of the royal family?

You can always pick you partners.
You should never have to roll with someone you don't want to. That's it.
Talk to your coaches, that's ridiculous.

Wait for him after class and “Harding” him
This 16 year old could kill 80% of people
This is not really an impressive number when you realize that children, the elderly, and the infirm are a significant part of the population.
Lol. Got a point there.
Don't roll with him

Just don’t roll with him. If he wants to be a dick let him be a dick to higher belts. He’ll learn fast.
You don’t have to roll with anyone
You should probably stop sleeping with his mom. 🤷♂️
Don’t roll with this person. Who cares what anyone thinks.

Tell the instructor you don’t want to roll with him.
I only roll with people who are committed to my physical well being. Your dude has no honor or respect.
Never feel ashamed to say no.
Don't roll 🤷♂️ But also, learn to protect your ankles.

Tap faster or stop getting leg locked 🤷♂️

Your bitchn at a 16 year old. Either be a man and tell him your problem, or quit. This is baby shit
Hope your ankle gets ripped to shreds he is an elite level wrestler

Tell your coach about it, and maybe he will smash the shit out of him. If he has half a brain, he will catch the drift.
Choke the mfker out a time or two. 16 y/o BJJ Spaz understand one thing. Greater violence than themselves.
Dont
Why does not speaking English have anything to do with not wanting to roll with him? Just shake your head no and move on
Probably not the advice you want but might be what you need… you should roll with them more and learn how to defend the moves instead of coming to Reddit. All love 🤙
And risk getting hurt and lose a 6 figure job no thanks
Why would learning how to defend the move put you at a higher risk? It would actually serve to do the opposite.
On a scale from 1 to roll with him, dont
If someone is reckless or trying to hurt you definitely don’t roll with them. Health first.
Does your gym not have skilled enforcers?
