It's helpful in some situations. However it's nowhere near as good as the media proclaims it to be.
I think it's rather a great tool for learning and writing boiler plate code(also for shitty tests and documentation). If the problems get too specific, it's better to do it yourself.
Definitely, ChatGPT and github copilor have become part of my day to day work (10YoE).
They are basically autocomplete on steroids, but you still have to carefully examine the output since it makes a lot of mistakes. But it’s still faster than writing the code manually
