Confederate Flag really was just Detroit wannabe thugs hating on rednecks, not as an anti-racist message, but as a regional exclusionary gimmick to pander to the relatively small northern base, and ATTEMPT to tap into the hardcore gangster rap demographic by bashing white people in a way to essentially get the "black vote."
Little did they know at the time that the group's demographic actually was poor, white, teenaged children in rural areas who hated their parents, and therefore reflexively hated their social and moral views, to include the conservative Confederate history worship of their parent's day.
ICP found that out and just essentially leaned into it to make the money, because all of those kids needed gods to look up to, and the baptist white god was loved by their parents, so they wanted the complete opposite. It was not (initially) out of compassion.
Anyone who says that isn't true should be directed to the early days of ICP, specifically where shaggy ruthlessly bulled an underaged rape victim on live radio to the point of tears. They had an act, and it was just to be the most awful, crude, shock-porn gimmick on the face of the planet.
They aren't heroes. Nobody that has a subreddit dedicated to them ever are. They are just people. What type of people they are is up to you to determine.
