In a glottal stop, you close your glottis and release it. That's it. In an ejective, you close your glottis and oush it up to create air pressure. They are different

Ooorm

Second that.

LOSNA17LL

Yep. You can even notice it by simply making those sounds... You'll know they're different (Proof by making noise, done)

hellerick_3

But I can't make those sounds so your proof is invalid.

LOSNA17LL

It only proves you are defective :3 (Sorry, that was so tempting \^\^")

SurelyIDidThisAlread

Does that mean there is such a thing as an ejective glottal stop?

tessharagai_

Bullshit no it’s not

IronWarden00

But what would be really twisted is distinguishing them by putting both in a conlang

_ricky_wastaken

There's something called Hyperformal by Agma Schwa

IronWarden00

Ooo, tell me more

Almajanna256

No! There's a BIG difference! Ahem, allow me to prepare a blogpost about how these sounds could never be allophones:

KiraAmelia3

New conlang idea! /pʼ/ /p͡ʔ/ /pʔ/ /ʔp/ are distinct phonemes/clusters of phonemes.

UncreativePotato143

They're the ONLY phonemes.

hotsaucevjj

the only aspect they're the same to me is that i can't really pronounce either, aside from that, nah

Aron-Jonasson

I just gotta summon our local Georgian u/_Aspagurr_, I reckon he'll be the most qualified to talk about ejective consonants

_Aspagurr_

Unfortunately, I don't think I'm qualified enough to talk about this kind of stuff.

Jack-Otovisky

I'm trying to do the /p͡ʔ/ but it comes as an elective. I think OP is on to something. Or maybe I just can't do the sound properly 🤷 Idk

Guantanamino

Coarticulated ejective sounds like /p͡k‘/ would be much closer thither, but /p’/ alone is nothing like /p͡ʔ/

Chrome_X_of_Hyrule

Bro thinks they're a phoneticist
