Rohan was famous for its cavalry, but it still had a lot of infantry. The force that Gandalf and Erkenbrand (Éomer in the movie) led to relieve the siege at Helm’s Deep was infantry in the book.
And it’s unclear who would have had the title of ‘knight’. Most of the time when the term is used to refer to the Rohirrim it refers to members of Théoden’s household or personal retinue. It does get used more broadly though to refer to any dude on a horse.
Knights should be gone too, since Theodin no longer recognizes friend from foe. And only one rook, on the queen's side, requiring a journey for protection. So you've got a king with one weird bishop whispering in his ear, and I guess the other bishop is eowyn?

I think all of Rohan's special units(including the king) should be replaced by knights. The king Knight can still be checkmated.
