There's a lot of cards from The Dark that stand out, especially in white, as they were still approaching that color as lawful evil. [[Tividar's Crusade]] isn't just visually violent, but is also tonally violent.

Jeez, that one's heavy.

Came here to say this. I didn't fully agree with the ban on \[\[Crusade\]\] and \[\[Jihad\]\] , and obviously real world violence and fantasy violence aren't the same, but holy shit this card is literally genocide and parading around the corpse. It's a great early example of "White isn't nice".

The art and flavor in The Dark is just so different and is a big reason why it's my favorite set. You won't see cards that look like [[Martyr's Cry]] or [[Witch Hunter]] anymore, and you barely saw them then. It's such a weird outlier of a set in terms of aesthetics.

Holy shiitt, I never even looked at the attacker's hand in Deflecting Palm! That's like...Mortal Kombat level.

I'm still not convinced Quentin Tarantino didn't illustrate that card.

Interesting choice! This one always came across more absurdist to me, but this is definitely a personal thing.

It looks like a piece of art that you would see in a museum, if not in context of MTG. That makes it more uncanny, in my opinion. It looks almost too realistic and this makes my theater of mind just play. [[Triumph of Cruelty]] is fairly violent but for a less blood-and-guts violence you might look at [[Triumph of Ferocity]]. I know people who saw the latter as much more concerning than a lot of other magic art because of the parallel to images of domestic violence and/or rape.

Which is absolutely ridiculous given the context. These two actually factually hate each other and it's clearly nothing to do with an intimate relationship, just "you caused this, fix it or I'll kill you." Magic really needs to stop caring about the opinion of people who don't know the context of the cards.

Both of these are extremely mild imo

"violent" doesn't mean "gory," and like 90% of the cards suggested are really just mildly violent with lots of gore.

I thought the 2020 collectors edition damnation was pretty violent. It looks cool too. Abomination of Llanowar is pretty graphic in concept too without blood.
