In no scenario is changing out the counter and backsplash more work than stripping, re-staining, and finish coating an entire kitchen of perfectly good (and beautiful) oak cabinets.
Oh, I didn’t really look into it in detail but if that is the case I might just redo the backsplash because Ive always wanted miradouro portuguese tile backsplash and I thought its much more work than refinishing the cabinets,it was something in the future for me
To redo the cupboards you have to remove every single door & drawer front, sand them all completely including inside those awkward little bevels, hang them individually to prime, then paint twice, then seal with a clear sealant. It’s so much work even when experienced. I’m experienced and I wouldn’t do it unless I absolutely couldn’t live with it.
You can paint both and/ or cover both with sticker- whatever option is preferable or easier for you. Checkout Dahlia DIY or other DIY on yt for ideas and guides on this. But I agree with the commenter above, definitely change the counter and backsplash. The cabinetry should be saved at all costs!
New backsplash! The one in this pic very much clashes. Watch some YouTube. Backsplashes are not very hard, and best of all they are relatively inexpensive AND there is (almost) no safety features relying on you doing it correctly. So it’s a pretty good beginner project.
That said, the backsplash you mentioned in another comment will be tough to match to this style. Maybe get some samples in the real kitchen and get some input round 2 on a backsplash that matches this look.
Dark cool toned Brown cabinets would look stunning. Xo,Macenna did this on YouTube and it looked stunning with some vintage brass hardware

Natural agate slice cabinet handles in assorted colors
Paint the tiles a high gloss black
Install under cabinet lighting so the counter area doesn't get too dark
Leave the cabinets and counter top as is and decorate with nick nacks
I agree, leave the cabinets as they are. One thing I did when I moved in to my house was to change the cabinet hardware... makes more of a difference than you think. I agree with changing the backsplash and/or countertops. If you're going to change the backsplash anyway, but don't want to full invest at the moment you can paint the tile or use tile decals. I used tile decals in my last kitchen and they worked out great.
Keep the cabinets as is. Change the counter and backsplash.
I was hoping something that doesn’t require that much work cause i am inexperienced

☝️a fairly huge undertaking to remove and redo cabinets- I know someone a year into still screwing around to finish.

Yeah, no. Refinishing cabinets is absolutely not a light undertaking.
Just so you know, you can put tile over tile. Definitely for backsplashes anyway.
Asking for a friend: Can you tile over peel-and-stick tile?
With more peel and stick. Porcelain would be too heavy and fall.
You can paint on the present tile also. Perhaps a dark color to match behind the doors and drawers? 🖖

Embrace them! Timeless wood cabinets! Decorate with stuff on counters or paint is your best reasonable approach!

Handles and tiles should be enough of a change if you want to keep the £££ in check

Probably will just do the hardware and see how it looks before committing to something crazy
Embrace it and make it your own
