For this very reason he kept on calling it an eastern diamond back rattlesnake and not, diamond back or rattlesnake. I will say this was staged and I would guess that the snake was very recently milked of all its venom.
I came here to say this. All the Indian guys going face-to-face with cobras have removed the fangs with pliers.
Gotta make money or gotta get likes. It’s all the same.
No and it's unethical, illegal or regulated. Also has some medical risks.
If, for some fucking reason, they want to keep a venomous snake as a pet they can get it's venom glands removed. But it's also not really ethical imo.
That's the pet owners responsibility at that point. Honestly though shouldn't have a exotic snake as a pet plenty of pets you can have that don't require that. It's. All hypothetical. Also homie won't get food without teeth guaranteed. At least he has more of a chance with teeth
I completely get what you’re saying but just to clarify…
They remove venom glands behind the eyes - not the fangs. Rattlesnakes normally shed their fangs so “defanging” wouldn’t be very effective. Interestingly enough, some people will have venom glands removed but then they grow back resulting In sweet sweet justice for the poor snake.
Disgusting practice on par with getting cats declawed.
Always hilarious to me how people act like Reddit is better than Facebook and here we are where one of the top voted comments is a dude saying “I know this dude blah blah blah” with no verification.
Why is it when I actually want to go to giphy to find the source of this gif it won't do it but when I tap on a totally different comment I get launched straight there
I once got super stoned and was hanging out with my friend in a bench carved into the dirt under a bush in so cal. The bench had a dirt arm rest on my left. After about two hours I looked to my right and noticed a baby rattlesnake snuggled up within a foot of my right leg. I’ve never become completely sober sooo fast. I just slowly scooted over but the sketchy part was lifting up my body so close to its head to get over the arm rest part. I’ve never been so terrified and moved so slowly
“I had to move out of this guy’s way as fast as possible!”
Proceeds to crouch close by the snake that is still VERY much in striking pose and giving warning signs.
The only problem is in certain part of Appalachia the rattle can be mistaken for the shaking of a pill bottle. This is more likely to attract Appalachians.
Dude was so lucky, he bancrupted his luck account.
And what the heck was the camera guy doing? Get a treebranch, best y-shaped and yeet that thing away.
I am as well considering it takes two to three days for it to kill you if not treated. It would hurt like hell but not fatal like he’s making it out to be.
Not sure where you're getting you're info... they ARE extremely deadly. The misery and suffering while you die is immeasurable. Untreated, while not certain, death is likely... so yes, it's probably fatal. Even if you get it treated, the pain is excruciating, and the damage the venom causes to the body takes months, even years to heal.
At first I was like “Nah, it’s probably just a fake snake and they’re doing this for views.” But then he touched the tail and I was like “oh no, that’s real.”
Damn lucky that wasn't a puff adder or common lancehead. Or a Western diamondback. Poking any of these with a stick will fuck up your life.
Yeah, as if dude was just sitting there and the snake just came up to him. Keep in mind that the eastern diamondback is a pit viper. Doesn't need to see you to tag you.
Snake obviously decided dude was too stupid to attack. Moving his left arm around was stupid. He was wide open and vulnerable and the snake moved onto his crotch to emphasize this. From his crotch that snake could have tagged him anywhere on his body. Jumping up and making himself bigger earned him a warning rattle.
You lie on your back and roll away from the snake a few times to get out of strike range. You never ever let a snake get behind you.
Save yourself half a million dollars and lifelong mental health issues. Don't mess with rattlesnakes.
this is nick the wrangler, a keeper of venomous snakes, I never really liked the way he treated them so a quick google showed that I'm not alone in this
https://www.reddit.com/r/VenomousKeepers/s/qJP1Tm7SPJ
also i think he had some allegations of smuggling a tiger?
For everybody saying why did the cameraman not do anything take a second to consider that any perceived attack against the snake would be dealt with accordingly and it probably would’ve bit the guy anyway. He could not have handled it better in my opinion he kept his self completely calm even if he was scared he did not let that control his actions.
I live in a rainforest with a lot of venomous snakes around my house. Stay calm and talk to them. Snakes can’t hear, but they can feel the calm and the vibrations. Also, here’s a pro tip from a jungle veteran: always look carefully before you sit down.
Apparently it’s the cameraman’s defanged pet. But the lessons are the same.
I once stood on a picnic table for an hour with my friend Keith waiting for animal control, because there was a very pissed off diamond head blocking our only way back inside...
Snake wasn't agitated and was not intending to bite - just curious about the warm thing that suddenly appeared next to it. Rattle wasn't going which is the precursor warning to a strike or just to let the person know the snake is there. Likely minimal danger in this particular scenario - but as always, don't fuck around with a wild animal.
I loved his cute little face looking at the guy though!
I call BS- you wouldn't be commentating and moving around if you were in that much danger, nor would the cameraman just carry on filming. Nice try though ;)
Bruh, you jumped up quicker than I've seen most snakes strike. Good job. I would have just had to get bitten because ain't no way my fat ass is moving that quick.
The fact that the camera guy isn’t helping at all shows that it was staged. I have been in the woods like that thousands of times and have never had a snake come up on me like that. Ridiculous.
As scary as being a situation is, remaining calm and using gentle coercing pokes with a stick is all one needs. This dude was fantastic. Only criticism is that he needed to back at least 1.5 snake lengths away.
If the snake does bite, there is a chance it’ll be a “dry” bite meaning no venom was injected.
I mean… unless he has a machete or a net what is the camera person going to do? Unless he knows for sure he can help, he’s better off with the camera. At least if he avoids also being bit, and can treat him or go/call for help.
It looks to me like there was a nest behind him? I'm not sure. I'm no expert but maybe it didn't attack because it was also trying to protect the eggs?
This is my favourite thing I’ve seen in a while! I don’t know if the show this to my mom or daughter or not (who are scared of snakes)… Can anyone tell me if this snake defence is helpful???
Rattlesnake for sure and they have 'evolved' to use their rattles less because that is how they were exterminated. Evolved as in the louder ones, or ones with higher tendency to rattle, were deleted from the evolutionary tree from conflicts with humans.
Did the camera dude crawl out of the bush, too?
Camera guy's like: *"Let me film it! I'll get a stick and push him away...later..."*
Push away a snake poised to attack? Im glad youre not my cameraman.
You would get a bite in your ass before you even manage to take the stick from the ground
The cameraman is a lakitu. He's safe.
Cameramen are invisible.
Beat me to it. He could have at least find a stick.
to mess with those who are quiet?? lol
With a 'wild(defanged) eastern diamond back'
have your buddy with the camera put the camera down, grab a stick and move the snake...
He’s trying to be Steve. Guy, you aint Steve
CRIKEY, SHE'S A BIG SHEILA!!! 🐍
"I'm gonna sneak behind it and stick a thumb up its ass."
“Thet aught ta relly pess him off!”
“Crikey, What a little ripper”
Steve would've been making out with that rattlesnake by the 10th second saying 'awe she's agitated now mate.'![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Aww. She's grumpy. It's ok little cutie. She's a grumpy one
Steve would have been "This is one of the most poisonous snakes on the planet! LADIES and GENTLEMEN, I will now put my finger up its anus"
Lol!!! He wouldn't do that.. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
It’s a South Park joke lol
😅
True. It appears as though this guy is still alive.
This guy is neither Steve Irwin, nor is he Steve Backshall
Yeah, Steve is dead, so he better not try to be Steve.
Too soon dude.
I’m with you man it’s still to soon
Exactly!! But then that wouldn’t get views
Cameramen was like: "If he dies... He dies..."
And loose the footage ? Lol
For this very reason he kept on calling it an eastern diamond back rattlesnake and not, diamond back or rattlesnake. I will say this was staged and I would guess that the snake was very recently milked of all its venom.
Boop his tail again, i think second time will work better
No, he needs to tickle snek under the chin.
I know the camera man, it’s his pet rattler…de-fanged. Welcome to “reality” tv
I came here to say this. All the Indian guys going face-to-face with cobras have removed the fangs with pliers. Gotta make money or gotta get likes. It’s all the same.
Well that's horrifying. :( Now I'm sad.
They have multiple sets of teeth ready to pop out right behind the main ones. You need to remove the venom sac to truly make the snake harmless.
Instructions unclear, snake has been decapitated.
And a decapitated snake can bite you for hours after it dies. Youre still not safe.
Where did you get that from?
Forgive my ignorance, but is de-fanging snakes a common thing for their owners?
No and it's unethical, illegal or regulated. Also has some medical risks. If, for some fucking reason, they want to keep a venomous snake as a pet they can get it's venom glands removed. But it's also not really ethical imo.
ide say its a bit better then pulling teeth with pliers
Yeah, while you're right, id hate for homie to ever be let loose and then not be able to effectively get food
That's the pet owners responsibility at that point. Honestly though shouldn't have a exotic snake as a pet plenty of pets you can have that don't require that. It's. All hypothetical. Also homie won't get food without teeth guaranteed. At least he has more of a chance with teeth
Large majority of venomous snake owners do not defang or devenom their snakes. It’s widely seen as unethical.
Thank you.
I completely get what you’re saying but just to clarify… They remove venom glands behind the eyes - not the fangs. Rattlesnakes normally shed their fangs so “defanging” wouldn’t be very effective. Interestingly enough, some people will have venom glands removed but then they grow back resulting In sweet sweet justice for the poor snake. Disgusting practice on par with getting cats declawed.
You do? What's his name
Always hilarious to me how people act like Reddit is better than Facebook and here we are where one of the top voted comments is a dude saying “I know this dude blah blah blah” with no verification.
doesn't this guy fuck with snakes all the time?
I sure hope not, bc that would be zoophilia

i’m gonna blow on him i’m gonna touch it’s tail i need to poke it with a stick HOW ARE YOU EVEN ALIVE RIGHT NOW BRO

this needs a medal
Guy with the camera was a big help.
"Veno-mous? Oh hi Venomous!"
I need to rewatch that
One of those bit my dog in the face years ago while we were on a hike. Wild day and expensive vet bill. She lived.
“I don’t know if that’s adrenaline or fear” They’re the same thing buddy
I dont know why i had to scroll miles for this
I was gonna comment this, glad someone else said it
I once got super stoned and was hanging out with my friend in a bench carved into the dirt under a bush in so cal. The bench had a dirt arm rest on my left. bet his backpack full with all kind of antivenom
I can't imagine this possibly being a good time even with a anti venom. Lol. Holy hell.
You don't need antivenom if the pet snake is defanged.
That was my first thought, that the venom was extracted or something, didn't know about the being defanged.
“I had to move out of this guy’s way as fast as possible!” Proceeds to crouch close by the snake that is still VERY much in striking pose and giving warning signs.
Getting annoyed at some of these nature videos where some asshat is just deliberately disturbing critters for a like
I think he was much more disturbed haha

Snake: thought he'd never leave damn
Dude was so lucky, he bancrupted his luck account. And what the heck was the camera guy doing? Get a treebranch, best y-shaped and yeet that thing away.
That snake is looking at you like “what the fuck? This guy thinks he is invisible, does he know I have heat vision?
To afraid to move, still manage to ramble on. Seems about right
Well. Considering there is a camera man could easily distract the snake I am very uninterested in the outcome
The snake got that dude pregnant. You should really watch the full clip. They now live happily with their snake human hybrid children in St. Louis
Geez…I spoke too soon
Or get the guy killed by trying to distract the snake
He said “if only I could reach something to distract it”. Well grab a stick cameraman
I am as well considering it takes two to three days for it to kill you if not treated. It would hurt like hell but not fatal like he’s making it out to be.
If it latched onto my crotch I'd want it to be fatal very fast.
Maybe the most irritating snake encounter I've ever seen. duh get the camera man to help bro.
At first I was like “Nah, it’s probably just a fake snake and they’re doing this for views.” But then he touched the tail and I was like “oh no, that’s real.”
Y does bro sound like coyote Peterson tho
I swear my heart rate went up watching that.
Maybe the camera guy could distract the snake instead of filming

Lol I gasped when the snake moved onto his pants
What pants?
Is that a snake in your pants or you just happy to see me?
cameraman : I don't care if you die, Im filming this!
This gave me anxiety
Still amazed that his first idea was to breathe on it's face and poke it with a stick.
This was the dumbest thing I’ve ever watched. He sounds like a wannabe trying to improvise lines
For everybody saying why did the cameraman not do anything take a second to consider that any perceived attack against the snake would be dealt with accordingly and it probably would’ve bit the guy anyway. He could not have handled it better in my opinion he kept his self completely calm even if he was scared he did not let that control his actions.
You are the only comment I've seen so far defending the cameraman and honestly I agree with you cameraman did the one of the better options
Plot twist: he actually brought his pet snake to the forest and made his friend film him.
One funny style move and Ima flatline you.😆
Just imagine the inner monologue of the snake "I am face to face with an idiot"
I’m surprised all the dookie in his pants didn’t cause the diamond back to leave.
Is it just me or is this guy annoying for some strange reason?
These people are both idiots.
10/10 Camera man 👌

Venomous snake vs. trouser snake. Who won?
Fart. Everything runs for dear life when i fart.
Anyone else blow when he tried to blow the snake away or was it just me? Ok I’ll see myself out now
The moment it crawled up on his lap, I shat myself
I’m no expert but why would he touch the snake tail
I once stood on a picnic table for an hour with my friend Keith waiting for animal control, because there was a very pissed off diamond head blocking our only way back inside...

I dont *think this guys qualified to sit face to face with a teddy bear.
It’s like it snuck up on him but I’d be doing ANYTHING to get away from it

"Fuck." Truer word has never been spoken.
What are the odds you camera man could've snuck up behind it, grabbed it by the middle or tail section and flung it before the snake could strike?
Near zero.
Nah that the weight of the crap in your pants making you shake
Don't help just film!
"What is your name? Oh, Veno-mous. Hello Veno-mous"
Im no snake wrangler but surely prodding the thing in its arse isn't going to get the result you want, unless... oh yeh views
Holy fuck big balls of snake
I mean… unless he has a machete or a net what is the camera person going to do? Unless he knows for sure he can help, he’s better off with the camera. At least if he avoids also being bit, and can treat him or go/call for help.
Absolutely idiotic
If it’s that hot out perhaps snek is hoping for some of that water these people always seem to have with them.
People are hating on the cameraman, but the guy seems experienced enough to trust himself more to handle this than someone else.
If he didn't shit his pants, I did it for him.
Maybe shut up.. All that heat coming out of your mouth.
Nope
This was a fantastic maybe maybe maybe, holy cow!!!!
95 degree 😅
I was so ready for him to put his hand down to push himself away/up and accedentally hit the snake and get bit
Good thing he was wearing is camo pants so you won't see the shit stain
Epic fail
Mr Snake just wanted a little cuddle :(
It looks to me like there was a nest behind him? I'm not sure. I'm no expert but maybe it didn't attack because it was also trying to protect the eggs?
That's a nope rope...

Am I the only one expecting a jump scare?
Grew up in Florida and have encountered too many rattlesnakes.
The reaction of a snake is really fast no?
Why is bro recording atleast attempt to help
These guys are idiots
I have experience with snakes and I would have done things a little differently. First I would have shit my pants. End the story
He didn’t even put the thumb in
