Hearing or reading some people's preferences can hurt sometimes (it happened a lot to me lol) but in the end everyone is entitled to their preferences and we should respect that... with some exceptions (pretty obvious exceptions about illegal stuff).
I think that something like wanting to marry a virgin is similar to wanting a man with a certain income. Both enforce traditional gender roles (women's chastity, men's productivity). Both enforce some sort of control over the other's life (the women must not have sex, the man must dedicate more time to a job).
These are both preferences people are allowed to have, but it's equally allowed to judge people for having them. But I think viewing one type of preference as trashy and the other as noble is stupid. This cuts both ways.
