I spent most of my teen years training horses in New Mexico and I ride and train them when I can, so the western look is apart of me. That's the vibe I'm going for, if that helps.

If I was gonna make a very humble humble suggestion, id say invest in some quality denim. It will go a LONNNNNNG way. Nothing crazy pricy. Many people here have help nudge my emerging sense of fashion in to the Rugged area of style. I've spent the day researching and finding how my own personal style fits that fashion sub-culture.
It also helps if you know this date is with my wife and my intent is for it to be a second first date. I'm just trying to let my wife know that I care how I represent her and that her man is high value.
Coming from a fellow cow person, you gotta go a little longer on the inseams to the jeans. You don't wanna see any of the boot shaft, want a little "stacking" around the heels.

We are here talking about cowboy boots. I personally hate square toe, and only own one pair. All of the rest of my collection is more traditional round and pointed toe shapes (r-toe and j-toe shapes). However, if you go to a local rodeo or livestock auction, all your gonna see is square toes outside of old timers and a few exceptions such as myself. If you walk in a boot barn or tack store, 90% or more of the boots offered are gonna be square toe. We aren't looking at or talking about loafers here, we are clearly talking about cowboy boots.

I’m not being mean but the majority of these clothes feel quite outdated. Not sure of your age but even a middle aged man should experiment with some updated styles. That’s not me telling you to dress like a teenager, but have a look and see what’s out there.
Try to look for some more timeless pieces too. For example, switch the military style white shirt with the double breast pockets for a classic Oxford. It will look sleeker and add a better silhouettes. Try to make sure it fits you well too. Some of the pieces you shown us look too big on you.

Well - That belt is a big no unless you want your date to focus on your lower half instead of your face. - The big ass hammer shoe toe does not work for you (I doubt it could work for anyone lol). - Last picture, those denim jacket and trousers do not go well together.
Lose the belt buckle for sure unless ya a cowboy living on a farm. I see cowboy boots so could be. Square toe shoes are out, have been for 10+ years. Get some lace up Oxfords, middle brown or double monk strap shoes but could be too dressy for your style. Just rock the boots and cowboy hat and think that should work. Good luck.

We are here talking about cowboy boots. I personally hate square toe, and only own one pair. All of the rest of my collection is more traditional round and pointed toe shapes (r-toe and j-toe shapes). However, if you go to a local rodeo or livestock auction, all your gonna see is square toes outside of old timers and a few exceptions such as myself. If you walk in a boot barn or tack store, 90% or more of the boots offered are gonna be square toe. We aren't looking at or talking about loafers here, we are clearly talking about cowboy boots.

Well, I've done cowboy work in my past and I live in cowboy country. I'll take your advice into consideration.
Wear more vibrant and patterned shirts. I used to work at ranches in my early twenties and did the cowboy look for a long time. You look more like the old geezer ranch guys then a modern cowboy lol.

I’d say outfit one but with the shoes from outfit 3. I’m not being mean but the majority of these clothes feel quite outdated. Not sure of your age but even a middle aged man should experiment with some updated styles. That’s not me telling you to dress like a teenager, but have a look and see what’s out there. Try to look for some more timeless pieces too. For example, switch the military style white shirt with the double breast pockets for a classic Oxford. It will look sleeker and add a better silhouettes. Try to make sure it fits you well too. Some of the pieces you shown us look too big on you. Also, I agree with others. The belts got to go. This isn’t the Wild West.

2 works 4 works 2 - Boots are a similar shade to your trousers. Wear darker or black boots and belt. Alternatively lighter trousers. The ones in #3 may work, but paler if you have any). (The boots work in #4 though) Belt is too wide and the buckle is huge. A slightly narrower belt with a standard buckle in a shade that matches whatever boots you wear. Best of luck with your date!

I disagree. I find it deeply matters as I am representing my wife's taste in men and ultimately who she choose to have for life. If anything married men should be putting more effort into themselves after marriage. Dating was merely the stage of seeing the potential in your prospective spouse. Now is the time to live up to that potential. It's not "just going out with my wife" but it is me looking to reinforce and reestablish in her mind and mine that we chose well. For each of us to show the other off. Pent up rant over lol. I do genuinely appreciate your opinions, thank you for sharing them with me!
