Lose the belt. It is way too big unless you are planning on riding a horse.

Artsakh_Rug

Or you’re dating a buckle bunny

GiveYourselfAFry

Buckle bunny?

LastandBestHope1776

They dress the part of western and chase cowboys but don't really live the lifestyle.

joeschmoagogo

NO! The belt can be a conversation piece! And that’s more important than fashion. Especially on a date. But whatever you do, don’t even think of wearing that waistcoat.

CamiloArturo

Yeah, it’s a conversation started about how many of your cousins have you dated. If my sister ever had come to a family meeting with a guy with that belt buckle, she would have been the center of mockery for a year.

joeschmoagogo

Maybe the guy legit won it in a rodeo. Or Wrestlemania.

ItsOnLikeNdamakung

Funny you mention that. My biological father has belt buckles from the rodeo circuit and they are huge. Might be even bigger than OPs.

CamiloArturo

🤣🤣🤣. Wrestlemania. You made my day hehehehe

Kelli-xx

Haha brilliant 😁😀

noble_peace_prize

Yeah it always screams all hat, no cattle. If you are a cowboy, by all means. If you’re not, it’s a bit much. But then again, it’s never a good idea to hide your true self.

bensawn

do belt buckles aid in horse back riding? i genuinely have no idea

CowMoolesting

About as much as nipple tassels

_koodlet

Personally, I like 1. Brown and blue is a good combo, and the white shirt is a nice touch. The belt is a bit tricky to pull off imo. If you're gonna do it, really do it, i.e. wear a cowboy hat. But that really depends on where your date is (the rodeo?), your overall vibe (do you ride a horse?), etc. It shouldn't be an affectation.

LastandBestHope1776

I spent most of my teen years training horses in New Mexico and I ride and train them when I can, so the western look is apart of me. That's the vibe I'm going for, if that helps.

thestonkinator

I was initially leaning towards no for the belt, but if that is "you" and not a gimmick, but training horses etc. is part of your background, I'd say go for it. Dates are supposed to be a good but honest first impression imo. I personally like 1 and 2 the best, but I'm also a tan pants man.

CowMoolesting

Homie is going on a “date” with his WIFE… ain’t no first impressions happening. I’m super confused why anyone would spend 2 weeks of prep on a date outfit, *especially* when you’re already married to this person.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CowMoolesting

I know. That seems like a pretty important thing to mention

neverclaimsurv

I also think #1 looks the best by far. Ignore the folks telling you to lose the belt OP - I figured right away it's a part of you!

Bigbrum210

The belt is badass! Rock that shit, only cowards who lack the courage would suggest otherwise. The chambray shirt is number 2 fits really well. I think that is why so many people are suggesting it. White shirts is a good fit too just not as good as the chambray. Jacket is legit. Looks like it might be a little wide in the chest though and the denim looks to be of a lighter weight. Heavier weight denim, Like a good 20oz cone mills or Japanese denim goes a long way for form and structure of a garment. Pants are all solid marquee colors, all your colors are on point actually. So I think it comes down to fit ya? So the cut in the pants appears to be a bit long in the seat and rise? Maybe it’s the angle. But based off the pictures I’d say the pants in picture 2 fit the best as well. Which might be another reason people have picked number 2. If I was gonna make a very humble humble suggestion, id say invest in some quality denim. It will go a LONNNNNNG way. Nothing crazy pricy. Brave Star Selvedge is the company that changed jeans forever for me. Showed me how important fit is on a pair of jeans and a jacket. And they are very reasonable priced. Best of luck, hope the date goes well, hope the info helps. My pick is number 2. Based solely off fit. 👍

LastandBestHope1776

Fit 1 or 2 seem to be the most common suggestions, thank you for yours btw. I appreciate the information on denim. I didn't know that about the jacket

CowMoolesting

$20 says this dude has a fish in his dating app profile pictures

rainawaytheday

You do you man. No point in trying to pretend your someone else.

CowMoolesting

He doesn’t have to pretend - he’s going out with his SPOUSE

PotentialIneptitude

Go 2

RealLifeLizLemon

Definitely two!

r_transpose_p

2 makes him look like an engineer (civil, structural, electrical, etc). Which isn't necessarily bad, depending on context. It'd definitely work for an engineering job interview. But if he's going out on a date in one of those towns where everyone is an engineer, ..., might want to at least look like a unique engineer.

RealLifeLizLemon

Oh damn, my dad is an engineer. Now I need therapy

r_transpose_p

Lol, nothing wrong with having inherited your mom's taste in men. So long as your tastes aren't 100% identical. Some people are into engineers, and that's fine. Just, if OP is a straight dude in someplace like silicon valley, most of the local women who are into the engineer look will already be paired up.

r_transpose_p

P.s. what kind of engineer?

kw4ugh

You obviously have a distinct style that is complimented by your lifestyle. Don’t let any one tell you otherwise — do you, baby! If it fits well, it’ll work. I’m digging the first outfit the best. Btw, I’m from Richmond, VA and hipster men would KILL in your style.

blackpanther274

Yeah imma say two. This isn’t red dead redemption… unless she from Texas

LastandBestHope1776

She is...and I spent many years training horses for the rodeo and for cattle work...

blackpanther274

😂😅lol that’s cool

Beginning_Tour_9320

I totally disagree with what people are saying about your buckle. I do think that your look could be updated though. Instagram is great for inspiration for menswear, If you search for rugged work wear, rugged men’s wear I think you will find some looks that you like that also include elements of western wear. Here’s a couple of accounts to get you started. https://instagram.com/ruggedworkwear?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://instagram.com/olicongress?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Individual_Speed_867

If that’s your vibe it all works, except that vest . Don’t do the vest

The-MDA

Completely agree with this. Pay no attention to the comments about the belt buckle. If that’s your thing and your wife knows it, rock it my dude. All of these fits work.

Individual_Speed_867

This is the way

LastandBestHope1776

A bit too Jonas Brothers? It was my wedding vest( date with the wife).

Individual_Speed_867

I think it’s just a bit much flare on top of flare. Imo you should have one item that really sticks out and the rest not so much , makes the one thing pop. But that’s just my opinion my Dude, also I’m not from your walk of life so I could be completely off as far as your norm. Like it would be completely normal for a man to wear flip flops out casually here but I’m guessing if I came to your town wearing boardshorts and flops I would get side eyed.

LastandBestHope1776

The look around here can be boiled down to 3-4 looks. 1). Western Work wear 2). Meth wear 3). Don't care 4). Late 2000's street wear.

Individual_Speed_867

Yikes, guess I’d either be the weird guy or doing the cowboy thing. Prob the odd guy in linen pants and vegan Birkenstocks.

LastandBestHope1776

You'd probably fit in better in the city, style wise. We're pretty open and accepting out here, we just do things differently I suppose.

Individual_Speed_867

Not even just the Deep South and it’s hot af so linen is normal.

Aware_Run_5471

I'm not a belt buckle guy but if you keep it you gotta do the boots and hat my guy

ItsOnLikeNdamakung

The belt buckle doesn’t bother me, but this might be from years of being around family who have been involved in rodeos and have bigger belt buckles. What does bother me is the waistcoat and the work boot. I think your outfits would look a lot better if you had a more formal cowboy boot. It would compliment the belt and buckle better than what you currently have on.

[deleted]

#3 👍 Don’t listen to the city slickers, all of those would be acceptable outfits around here.

Artistic-Recipe-3799

It's definitely between 1 and 2 but 2 looks too casual like you could be dressed to go to the grocery store whereas 1 looks like you put a bit of effort into trying to look nice for a date. Seeing as you're going with your wife, I'd suggest actually asking her what clothes she likes you in. She might prefer you in your jeans to your brown pants, for example, so I think you need to strongly consider her preferences.

ElGrandeQues0

I don't know where you live, but around me people wear pajamas to go to the grocery store.

Radiant-Patient7195

I like the blue denim button down with tan pants. Can be work for both day and night. The one with the vest is to much. Kinda wedding looking.

LastandBestHope1776

It was my wedding vest, and since I'm going on a date with my wife I thought I'd be sweet.

Radiant-Patient7195

Awww 🥰 yes it would be hella sweet then. Go with that one. I thought it was just a date.

easy_Money

Dude you should've said this sooner!! It's really sweet that you're planning this far ahead for a date with your wife. Tbh I was planning to tell you to ditch the cowboy look completely; but assuming this is your usual vibe, I'm sure she'll love it.

beauspambeau

[deleted]

Brown chinos and the blue shirt is best bro, also undo a button or two and show some chest because your man! Lose the belt as well its too much. The other looks are too serious my friend. You want to give off a serious but laid back impression. I believe in you, i know you can woo her, just dont overthink things and remember to be your self. Don’t worry if it doesn’t go well theres plenty of singles out deyaaa, just believe in yourself and Good luck my friend!!!!

Krixic1

Everything is solid but the first and fourth. Big buckle look is fine, its not for everyone but I have friends that wear them and I dig'm. I'm assuming she is from a similar area as you so Im sure she probably digs them too. Reason I dont like the first one is cause its got a little too much happening and 4th one looks like a school boy imo. Good luck!

Rodeo-Cauliflower

White shirt, blue jeans, belt and boots , keep your identity and look great 😊

ALIBIGPP69

All good just don't forget the hat.

Victory_Infinite

If you show up on a date with that buckle on I’ll marry you…. And I’m a bloke… and I’m already married!! Go get em tiger!!

Section101

Invite for number 2.

[deleted]

Well howdy there partner

Cowboy_0018

Boots, jeans, belt and buckle are fine. I would wear a colorful shirt. Ariat or wrangler Pearl snap shirt in maybe a green or aqua. You will need to wear your good straw hat. Btw I’m from Texas and dang near everything I wear is western.

stankboxers

honestly for me depends on where you live because i live on the east coast near a city and this stuff isn’t really my style. but if you’re in the south or even out west i can see these outfits to be really in style. my favorite would be 1/2. i like the brown vest as well but i’m not sure if i would wear jeans with it.

Irrxlevance

I think 2 or 3. Belt is fine, keep it, It just suits outfit 3 better than the others.

Equivalent_Ad_8994

The first outfit is perfectly fine. It's even better if you feel good in it and it speaks to who you are. Just be mindful of where you're headed and what you're doing.

GlumMasterpiece7176

You better clean that room before the date! If you get them with the outfit, they will be turned off by the room!

NerfGforce

I’m going to be honest the vest and belt no go for me.

quizzicalmoose

Personally, if you showed up to a date with me in the third outfit I’d be trying to put out HARD. You look nice in number two as well and is probably more “universal” date attire if that makes sense.

SnooMemesjellies1759

Honestly these arent bad if they align with your lifestyle/vibe. Except the fourth one, burn that immediately

SnooMemesjellies1759

2 would be the best choice

James4theP

Are you going there by horse?

Otherwise_Tie7073

If your taking her to play red dead redemption then that's the perfect outfit! All the best

LastandBestHope1776

I mean, some late horse play is a possibility

Just-Entrepreneur825

The buckle is a nice touch 🐴 Go with the square toe boot and the vest is a hard pass.

infinte-research

Last one minus the jacket but you’ve come this far get the damn shit kickers already!!! GL my man

stircrazyest

1 or 2.

MaynardLeandoer

last one. dont dress too modest, express yourself foo

martingump

Look, if the date goes well, you'll be taking it off anyway. If it doesn't, she won't care what you're wearing. I wouldn't worry.... 😂

CreateUser90

A lot of these people don’t know what they are talking about. I used to train horses and worked at many ranches. When I was doing so I wore cowboy boots and such but I didn’t look like this. I took the opportunity to wear more vibrant colored shirts. This really does look more old school. Even though you ride horses you still look more pioneer then anything. Even if you’re going the cowboy look. Most more modern and younger cowboys I know wear colored shirts. Super vibrant. At least everyone that I used to rodeo with. I feel like you’re coming off a Wild West shootout recreation or something lol.

CreateUser90

More vibrant shirts show you’re not boring af and are definitely more confident looking. This looks timid as hell.

half_a_loaf

Pic 2. Perfect for a first date. Not too loud. Clean. Good fit.

Prestigious_Ad9305

Different belt.

bensawn

serious question- are you like a ranch hand or something? i dont know how important the western vibe is to you but honestly i dont think the full blown cowboy look is good for anyone trying to go on a first date in 2023 unless she said the literal phrase "i have a huge cowboy fetish." short answer: lost the belt, lost the vest, stick to the basics- button down and some dark jeans. there is nothing wrong with some personality but if you are asking a sub to weigh in, you don't have the requisite confidence to pull off a bold look as a matter of fact, so don't do that shit to yourself.

LastandBestHope1776

I spent years training horses and working cattle from time to time in New Mexico. I also live in cowboy country, not in the city. In fact I still own my lariat and 3 hats. While I appreciate this subs opinions and suggestions, most of which I'm taking to heart, I'm highly confident now in my look. Especially since a few people have reached out and told me I am pulling off the look. Many people here have help nudge my emerging sense of fashion in to the Rugged area of style. I've spent the day researching and finding how my own personal style fits that fashion sub-culture. It also helps if you know this date is with my wife and my intent is for it to be a second first date. I'm just trying to let my wife know that I care how I represent her and that her man is high value.

bensawn

Totally fair answer. I’m glad you got what you needed even if I was a little lost.

Acrobatic-Froyo2904

Keep your hands out of pockets, no jacket indoors, if it’s big date, shirt tucked in. Looking good and good luck.

VividPsychology771

If you’re going to keep the belt, #1 for sure. If you’re going to lose the belt, #2. The others aren’t worth considering.

setthestageonfire

Add a bolo tie and cuff your pants on option 1 and you’ll be ready to take on the world

556x45FMJ

Coming from a fellow cow person, you gotta go a little longer on the inseams to the jeans. You don't wanna see any of the boot shaft, want a little "stacking" around the heels.

556x45FMJ

These are a few different examples, the darker jeans just a little stack, and the lighter jeans with a ton of stacking https://imgur.com/a/fcPJyXh

LastandBestHope1776

I appreciate it! Btw, user name is on point 🤌

Tbone494

The only decent thing I saw there was the blue shirt. Get yourself some nice tapered dark grey jeans for that blue shirt and you're all set

rhohodendron

you kinda just look like a dude

LastandBestHope1776

I mean, I am a guy lol. How do you elevate beyond generic npc guy?

Vegetable-Ebb-7571

If that’s what you wear casually, go for it. I personally think you could try something more suave but not tryhard. Fashion should portray your personality, keep it natural

LastandBestHope1776

I'm not sure what suave is, but these are all items I pulled from my closet and I've owned for years.

Vegetable-Ebb-7571

The items you have are great staples. Would great to see you experiment with the rule of thirds, different silhouettes and fitting. It will make you stand out more Experimenting with these concepts will allow you to develop a style that it tailored to your body. It’s a lot of new concepts but hopefully it can spur your journey in personal fashion

LastandBestHope1776

Where would you recommend to learn these concepts, like the rule of thirds?

Vegetable-Ebb-7571

YouTube is a good place to start. Type into YouTube “rule of thirds fashion” Scroll until you find someone who’s style you like. If they’re making video like rule of thirds it is likely they have other good videos on fashion. Off the the top of my head I can recommend Alex Costa, Brandon Balfour

LastandBestHope1776

Thank you! I'll see what I can find

nupsnfdx

Well - That belt is a big no unless you want your date to focus on your lower half instead of your face. - The big ass hammer shoe toe does not work for you (I doubt it could work for anyone lol). - Last picture, those denim jacket and trousers do not go well together.

SpecialistGap9223

Lose the belt buckle for sure unless ya a cowboy living on a farm. I see cowboy boots so could be. Square toe shoes are out, have been for 10+ years. Get some lace up Oxfords, middle brown or double monk strap shoes but could be too dressy for your style. Just rock the boots and cowboy hat and think that should work. Good luck.

556x45FMJ

You know such little about boots. Square toe boots are so in style right now that manufacturers are hardly even making thee older round toe shapes.

SpecialistGap9223

Square toe shoes in style? Sure circa 2010 but you do you. No one rocking square toes in NYC or West Coast.

556x45FMJ

We are here talking about cowboy boots. I personally hate square toe, and only own one pair. All of the rest of my collection is more traditional round and pointed toe shapes (r-toe and j-toe shapes). However, if you go to a local rodeo or livestock auction, all your gonna see is square toes outside of old timers and a few exceptions such as myself. If you walk in a boot barn or tack store, 90% or more of the boots offered are gonna be square toe. We aren't looking at or talking about loafers here, we are clearly talking about cowboy boots.

SpecialistGap9223

Duly noted.

CreateUser90

Terrible advice

Any-Zookeepergame309

The beat up brown boots and country music belt buckle need to go In the trash. Untucked shirts are for fat guys. You are not one. make sure your shirts aren’t too long. Lose the vests…they are for waiters and cowboys. seems you have a bit of a cowboy affectation. Unless you’re dating Shania Twain, ditch the cowboy shirts and clothes.

LastandBestHope1776

Well, I've done cowboy work in my past and I live in cowboy country. I'll take your advice into consideration.

CreateUser90

Wear more vibrant and patterned shirts. I used to work at ranches in my early twenties and did the cowboy look for a long time. You look more like the old geezer ranch guys then a modern cowboy lol.

[deleted]

556x45FMJ

Hey there Mr city slicker! Next time you take a bite of beef or a sip of milk, you can thank folks that dress like us that make America run.

LastandBestHope1776

I literally own these clothes and thought they looked nice

SLPERAS

Dump that huge ass belt buckle and that square toed abomination in the garbage. Today. No tshirts under the shirt. Get a real automatic watch.

556x45FMJ

You must've never done any cowpunchin' in your day.

possailor2014

I'd get rid of the fitbit or the fitness watch. But best of luck

CamiloArturo

Burn that hillbilly belt buckle as soon as possible. On the other hand the blue shirt works the best …. Just iron it adequately

556x45FMJ

Op spent his early years training horses and running cattle. What makes you think you are too cool to be proud of your upbringing?

you-dont-have-eyes

#1 without the big ass belt buckle, and with black shoes.

556x45FMJ

What is that represents who you are?

Benzorat0r

1 2 3 5 are all decent, but that belt is a definite no. The round toed shoes are far superior to the square toe

LastandBestHope1776

Even if I cone from a western background(training horses)?

556x45FMJ

Bro do not listen to these city slickers. They couldn't put a goddamn bridle on.

LastandBestHope1776

Lol I doubt most here could ride let alone know how to walk around a horse😂

Capable_Respond_4521

i like 4 but maybe some linen trousers instead

Cosmonaut_Cockswing

2 or 4. 4 is very nice.

fuckingJJ

I’d say outfit one but with the shoes from outfit 3. I’m not being mean but the majority of these clothes feel quite outdated. Not sure of your age but even a middle aged man should experiment with some updated styles. That’s not me telling you to dress like a teenager, but have a look and see what’s out there. Try to look for some more timeless pieces too. For example, switch the military style white shirt with the double breast pockets for a classic Oxford. It will look sleeker and add a better silhouettes. Try to make sure it fits you well too. Some of the pieces you shown us look too big on you. Also, I agree with others. The belts got to go. This isn’t the Wild West.

hellohellohello2244

2 is the only option

BeatlesElvisfan

I like the 5th outfit a lot go with it

WonderfulUpstairs966

Number 1 without the belt . It’s far too big unless your planning to go on a rodeo.

Helter7Skelter

2 or 4. Round toe shoes. Lose the belt for definite.

Existential_Fatalist

3 always 3.

Fancy-Breadfruit-776

Agreed!!

CatKungFu

2 works 4 works 2 - Boots are a similar shade to your trousers. Wear darker or black boots and belt. Alternatively lighter trousers. The ones in #3 may work, but paler if you have any). (The boots work in #4 though) Belt is too wide and the buckle is huge. A slightly narrower belt with a standard buckle in a shade that matches whatever boots you wear. Best of luck with your date!

[deleted]

Get ride of that turkey platter belt buckle - unless your first date is at the rodeo.

556x45FMJ

This is a part of who we are

No-Assignment2120

I like the third outfit personally. It compliments your body and I don’t mind the brown belt boat combo here.

fdotwilliams

I’d go with outfit #2.

primeiro23

Where is the rodeo?

handsumhusla

He is definitely going on a date with another man

LastandBestHope1776

No, it's my wife. Just trying to up my fashion game for her.

TheMasterCharles

#1 is the best.

BlueE30

3 is the best without the belt… or 2 if you’re going a bit more casual. Either way, get a brown belt with a normal clasp.

[deleted]

I would say 1, 2 or 4 but choose the one you feel the most comfortable in, and the one where you think you look the most like a hot piece of man

Charlea_

Do you have different shoes you can wear with outfit 1?

LastandBestHope1776

I have a pair of Chelsea boots that are a bit scuffed up and some lace up wingtips that have a stain on them. Other then those, it's my running shoes, hiking boots, and work boots

Charlea_

They’re just a bit too similar in colour to the trousers for me!

slopetider

2 looks great. Ditch the undershirt. Undo another button.

NassahgniK

1

Marlboro-Man_

Number 2, get a v neck undershirt.

JustScrollinAndSht

A mix between 2 and 3, minus the cowboy belt.

0_Kozak_1

3rd

Smoogis

John Marston

thrashpiece

Outfit 2 is the only acceptable answer.

raa__va

Last outfit but lose the belt, unless she likes it or it’s a joke or something of interest between you guys. Or get a subtle one the very least

LastandBestHope1776

I'm going to be honest, that belt buckle size is considered normal, or unimpressive in my sub-culture. They get MUCH bigger

raa__va

Well then there you go, if it’s a normalized thing then keep at it. Now I feel if you didn’t maybe she’d think your out of town lol But yeah I’d keep with the all blue and white shirt. The same color through out makes you look taller and slimmer (not implying your currently not ~ but it rather emphasizes those features)

gtoz1119

3 or 4 is it.

half_a_loaf

Pic 2. Perfect for a first date. Not too loud. Clean. Good fit.

sprout480

Where the hell you dating? The Alamo?

LastandBestHope1776

She is from Texas, and I used to do cowboy shit all the time.

sprout480

Checks out. You good then man looking sharp.

FearlessFreak69

Lose the belt Tex.

556x45FMJ

Something people like you don't realize is that this is who we are. What we were born and raised doing. We are not posers or wanting to look like you city slickers.

HighPowered_Mutant

Unless you’re in Texas, lose the belt.

pisstowine

Number 4 is perfection, in my opinion.

CowMoolesting

TF that belt buckle?

LastandBestHope1776

Western

CowMoolesting

Well my would-be response won’t really be relevant since you’re just going out with your wife, so honestly, unless your marriage is hanging by a thread, it doesn’t matter what you wear.

LastandBestHope1776

I disagree. I find it deeply matters as I am representing my wife's taste in men and ultimately who she choose to have for life. If anything married men should be putting more effort into themselves after marriage. Dating was merely the stage of seeing the potential in your prospective spouse. Now is the time to live up to that potential. It's not "just going out with my wife" but it is me looking to reinforce and reestablish in her mind and mine that we chose well. For each of us to show the other off. Pent up rant over lol. I do genuinely appreciate your opinions, thank you for sharing them with me!

CowMoolesting

Cheers mate
