Remember the traineeships are $80k but you jump up in pay once qualified.
Don’t stress too much about the drop in salary. I’ve also made the swap going from teaching to mining engineering. Whilst I’m at university, I get placements and paid internships. But since you and I have got our teaching degrees, don’t be afraid to look into doing relief teaching when you’re back home.
However, I would advise this only if you’re absolutely stinging for cash, as you really want to be spending your time at home with your family or friends. Even if you’ll make mates out on side with your crew, you’ll also be missing out on a lot major life events whilst on site. So yeah don’t get obsessed with the money but know that you got substitute teaching you can do.
There was a guy in Cobar that was an ex teacher doing inductions. As he knew how to teach that was perhaps the most engaged I have ever been in an induction.

Thank you very much! I'm expecting a pay drop since I'll have to start from the entry level. It's a starting point for sure
