Is there a reason for going without wifi? If there is, just get a router / switch combo without the extra cost of tacking on wifi like [this](https://www.umart.com.au/product/tp-link-tl-er605-omada-gigabit-vpn-router-er605-60016). Superloop or Aussie are the two main recommends at the moment.

I just don't use it ever haha cables more fun to me Also most of my PC don't have wifi cards or chips Thanks I'll look into that, I can assume it supports the gigabyte connection

Yes, Ethernet from the NBN NTD into the WAN port on your router. Then Ethernet from the LAN ports on your Router to your devices. Then disable WiFi on your router. Netgear and Asus are always a solid choice - something with gigabit ports, which is pretty much all of them these days Superloop Is OK, I've been happy with performance. Support are out sourced but that's why it's cheaper - ive had better luck with live chat than calling them

Netgear is the worst of them all

GimmeWinnieBlues

Netgear is fine, plenty of dogshit Chinese vendors with immeasurably worse equipment.

Thanks, I've got a Vodafone router currently I read that superloop is fastest in aus now andbette then ABB I might get Asus to try

Any device that was procured by an ISP is usually trash (Unless its like its own name brand wifi mesh router that ISPs have started selling - at which point do you own research) ISP / RSP's have sold the cheapest crap they can get their hands on over the last 10 years, its always better to do some research and buy a reputable brand device independent of what your ISP is selling. In almost all cases, any device you buy is going to need to reboot to disable the wifi portion of the router. so beware of that if turning off wifi is a serious requirement for you.

Thankyou for the valuable info, I didn't realize this Maybe I'll get a switch/ modem w firewall plug into first and then from the modem to the router so I can have the WiFi router switched off most time?

springtide01

“Can I jus cable straight from wherever the box gets installed?” I don’t see why not. If it doesn’t work, then go buy a router. No need for a modem, since only FTTN needs a modem. “ Which router do I buy?” Buy one that you like, and one that you can afford. “Is superloop the right choice or should I cancel?” You have zero patience. Try it first, if not satisfied, then cancel.

Thanks, just trying to make sure I don't get caught up with a lemon as it's my first time haha I'll get one which supports the gigabit connection since I'm paying for the fast speed

GTR-12

They all support gigabit, this is 2024.

Neither-Cup564

Makes me nervous when people talk about going direct out to the internet. There’s so many people trying to hack shit these days why would you not throw at least a basic firewall/dns filter in front.

swizacidx

good point, thanks haha i will get something
