I had a similar issue when I upgraded to FTTP from Telstra (was on FTTC). I’d never had issues with Telstra, but about 5 days into our FTTP with Superloop it kept shitting itself. We’ve been with AussieBB for a few months now, definitely worth the extra cost for reliability.

RamBas_6085

I've been with Superloop for a year now, no dramas. When I was with ABB after a few years, dropouts kept on happening. FTTP

Wait I just signed up for the 1000/50 plan yesterday for 99per month for first 6 months. When did they increase the prices? Also any of you guys used the eero 6 that comes with the superloop plans? If it's unreliable modem I will probably look into buying a new one somewhere

blawler

I was with ABB for years, I am now with Superloop, about a few months. Haven't had issues with either.

casualDudeJ

Awesome appreciate the feedback.

blawler

I also did not use Thier router. I have my own. Ubiquity Dream Machine is what I use

casualDudeJ

Ah ok I will see how things go with the eero provided with the plan if it doesn't perform with the speed of the plan or isn't reliable I will have to look into other modems.

casualDudeJ

Oh damn the dream machine is a pricey choice haha from the name I could tell it wasn't gonna be a cheap one

Oh wow that's a bit of a steep price for the 50/20 plan but I guess everything is going up in price lately so it's not that surprising I guess. But yeah I'm pretty happy paying the price for the 1000/50 plan even after the 6 month discount ends. For the speed package the price is a lot better then other ISP offer. Just hoping when I get it all set up I can get close to the actual speed they make you pay for lol

Good to know there speeds are atleast as advertised I've had issues with other ISP not getting anywhere near the speed they advertise. But yeah it's really unfortunate how rural area's are cut off from having the higher speed options. I realistically don't expect the 1gbps speed to run at that speed but if it's atleast over 650-700 I will be happy. I also will probably look into other modem choices that can handle higher speeds if I have trouble with getting a consistent speed.

casualDudeJ

Appreciate your feedback mate thank you

>As a result, your 50/20 Mbps plan price will change to $81.00/mth. You can actually blame NBNCo for this price increase. They increased the price of the 50/20mbps plans to encourage take up of higher speed plans. Personally I just swapped over to Superloop with a 100/40 mbps plan and I will be paying $89 per month once my sign up discount ends ($75 per month for 6 months). I don't think I will actually get 100/40 until I can convince everyone necessary to upgrade my connection from FTTN to FTTP due to a bad copper section in between me and the node though (been trying to get it fixed since 2012).

RamBas_6085

I'm paying $109/mth for the 1000/50 speed tier

casualDudeJ

Yeah I think that's the standard price of the plan but they have a 6month discount ATM so it works out 99 pm for first 6months. By chance did you opt for the eero 6? If you did, is it a good router/modem

RamBas_6085

Still CHEAPER than ABB, now since they started trading in the public sphere they've gotten greedy.

casualDudeJ

Yeah the price of the Lightspeed plan is the best value currently. Every other ISP wants way more and there T.E.S(typical evening speeds) aren't even as good as superloops but they want more money lol

GTR-12

Do you have a 4G backup? You may have experienced drop outs, but it was masked by the 4G backup.

ADL-AU

This was my first thought.

GTR-12

Not mine, I have a serial-downvoter of every post I make, it's funny honestly.

t0uki

I don't think it is exclusively a fault of superloop. I've been with them and Aussie broadband on FTTN. I didn't log it, but would get dropouts every few days. I purchased a secondary 5g backup because my partner would complain it was so frequent. Fortunately I have been upgraded to fibre as of Tuesday. Dropouts have all but ceased. This was through Superloop FYI. Ultimately the copper was poor. Only hitting 74/27 on a 100/40 plan. I attribute the dropouts to poor infrastructure, not the provider. They can back off your attenuation settings to improve your stability, but it will diminish your sync rate AFAIK

SaturnalianGhost

My area doesn’t get FTTP until September. As soon as it does I’ll upgrade and hopefully all issues will be sorted. So far Aussie hasn’t dropped with the FTTN service.

thornbrook

I left superloop a couple of weeks ago Had several weeks of inconsistent peak hour latency. 300ms+ just randomly happening between 7-9 Raised faults and heard nothing Their support is woeful when you do actually need it - but that's the risk/reward Lo and behold everything has been seamlessly sub 10ms since I switched Something is definitely off with them.

relaxre

Never had dropouts with Superloop

_whip_cracker_

Are you using the exact same hardware and cabling and configured router to suit? I've been with SL for around 5 years and never had a problem.
