You’re on FTTN - every provider will struggle with node congestion at peak times. Adding backhaul congestion from a cheap provider will make it worse. Having said that your suggested alternatives are decent. You’re backed into a bad situation. If you can afford it get Starlink and load balance or ditch the nbn. With ISP’s / RSP’s in Australia with few notable exceptions you do usually get what you pay for, and saving pennies might mean suddenly your frustration increases disproportionately. Also work out if you swap away will the other provider increase their prices a month or two later? But again, you’re on FTTN in Adelaide so you’re capped anyway. You’ll need a modem, and the Netcomms are decent (and not breaking a sweat at 75/20). If you’re not tech savvy it might be easier when you swap to get a new one preconfigured from the new provider but otherwise stick with the one you have.

I’m not not tech savvy, but I don’t know a huge amount of this stuff either. Pretty sure I could manage to update the connection details if provided them from any provider though. Mainly looking at some of the into offers out there. We are due to get FTTP later this year (allegedly 😏), so looking to save what we can where we can.

If you are organising something like a FTTP upgrade for your property soon, I would reserve yourself the cheaper promotional period with a reputable company to complete that upgrade (maybe leaptel?) that way you've got someone good on your side for that project if it goes a bit pear shaped. (eg. dont sign up with that company so you can reserve them for later when you will become a new customer post FTTP upgrade) Does anyone know if you can claim the promotional period of both Excetel and Superloop consecutively considering they are owned by the same company (Superloop) Note that Superloop at month 5, you will have to say you want to churn, as they make you give them 1 months notice or incur a fee to exit without providing a month (I am not sure if Excetel inherited this restriction)

I’d suggest Leaptel’s 100mbps plan for $74.95 for the first 12 months. Then use them for fttp upgrade. You’re basically getting the same quality as ABB at a lower price. Particularly the support side. Alternatives like Exetel and Superloop just aren’t as good as ABB from what people have said on here. You shouldn’t need to change any settings just a simple churn.

I you have Ubiquiti, disable WiFi on the NF18. But you need a VDSL modem at least, or a modem router if you don't have UDM or similar.

Competitive-Mood4980

Considering I have no idea what a UDM is, it’s a fair bet we don’t have that 😆 Wifi is disabled on the Netcomm.

I will vote for Exetel, also you can churn as soon as the discount ends.

Competitive-Mood4980

Can you not with some others?

GTR-12

Some others may offer you a "free" modem, but they make you sign a long contract to stop you from leaving.

Have a look into superloop they got good plan deals currently have a 6 month discount on there plans until like 2nd of June or something

If you upgrade to 100/20 on ABB then you will be on 85/M. Since you're an existing customer it's better to take promo and you will pay less. Get $10 off per month for 12 months when upgrading to 100/20 & 100/40 unlimited residential plans. USE CODE: UP120

Interesting. I’ve never looked at higher speed plans because the max our line is capable for is around 70, so it seemed silly to pay for what we couldn’t achieve. Might be worth considering for something like this though, thanks for the tip!

Competitive-Mood4980

Thanks for the tip. Even though our theoretical max speed is 73mbps, that has saved me $7 a month without the hassle of churning.
