The Blind Monk on Beaumont St
Just don't go on a Friday or Saturday night, as it gets too rowdy
They have nice food & drinks menu too

Not really a small bar, but The Northern Star on Beaumont street has a massive beer garden, probably the biggest I’ve seen in Newcastle.
Go during the day or a weekday night and a lot of the time you have the place to yourself. The cheap pints don’t hurt. I’m a local there and will usually go and just sit there and read, then when it gets later on I’ll have a few drinks and meet up with the locals.
The Press club on Hunter Street opposite the uni building :)
The Lost Souls on Darby Street. Basically a late night coffee shop/small bar.

The falcon. Try the chicken burger while you're there.
Ooh and lost souls on Darby, it would actually be perfect it has a little garden area.
The only time I've been to The Falcon it was really loud
I've not been in there myself but Bar Mellow looks very cute from the outside. It's got some cosy little booths too.
The Northo is pretty good
Cheers mate, will keep this one in mind for next time
Bartholomew's when it's quiet is good, there are some nooks with lounges, nice place to sit.
They’re pretty quiet through the week, but it’s pretty dark with all their mood lighting! Good cocktails and booze though
