GREEN IZ BESTEST, BUT SOMTYMES I NEED TO GO FAST, SOMTYME TO MAKE BIGGA EXPLOZONS, SOMTYME TO BE LUKKY. ITZ A FINE BALANZE DAT IZ BEING BOT BEST AND SOMFING ELS. IZ LIKE GORK AND MORK TEMSELF, BOT IZ GOOD
Green is the term for green skin. Green is best is referring to orks being the best. They are not wrong to think that either.
Outside of thinking, naturally , red goes fast, blue is lucky , black is strong , the more barrels attached to your gun the more bullets it fires ect.
Can you imagine how terrifying an Ork Artist would be?
Finishes a masterful Ork Picasso, and then it explodes in a huge (yellow) and quick (red) explosion that just happens to not damage the artist (blue) that no-one seems to notice (purple) and still thinks it's the best (green). Lol
Orks are green, the most neutral color, because we live life by primal instinct. Natural order. No overly complicated schemes or other nonsense, just what feels natural. The waaagh!
But ask yourself, what does your inner ork crave?
Wanna go fast? Your paint red.
Wanna krumpa harder? Black & white checkered.
Want more dakka? Yellows your friend.
Feeling down on your luck? Embrace the blue.
Wanna sneak up on ya fellow gits and give em a nice Krump? Paint purple cause they never saw a purple ork before.
Orks is about what feels natural. What do you like, what feels right to *you.* It's all about having fun and good times. And if ya lose, no worries. We'll be back for round 2.
No doubt it would get confusing. You don't want to have your duller boyz start trying to interpret a battlewagon's roaring engine sounds as orders. After all, Orks iz green, big Orks is boss. Not every ork is sharp enough to realize that the big green wheeled rectangle is not the biggest boss around, it's a vehicle.
Quick and easy gun recipe: paint gun leadbelcher. Paint over whole gun with aggaros dune (contrast). Drybrush with any silver. Gives it a old military surplus color I like. Happy hobbying!
Lol, too true.
More serious answer, Tabletop Tactics' in house Ork army has green armor and is absolutely gorgeous. If you're searching for green-on-green inspiration, give them a look.
I will look at them, I painted Ghaz with the Cadian colours once and I really liked how that turned out, a military style ork looks badass.. I want to try it on an army so I'll give them a look
I agree that military, organized, Ork forces look really nice. I did a warband of Blood Axes painted as Steel Legion, and it was very clean. I also use a few Mantic Games Marauder Orks because they look more "space-mercenary-for-hire" and less "post-apocalyptic-scrap-tech" of 40k Orks.
Orks want a good scrap, and if everything was the best then the scrap wouldn't be very good or fair, so every scrap wouldn't have the risk of losing (not that orks lose anyway)

Dis da best ansuh
If everything is green, you don’t know what to punch.
Op tryin to table single color models, I see you!
Single colour with a few accent colours and a metal gun!
Quick and easy gun recipe: paint gun leadbelcher. Paint over whole gun with aggaros dune (contrast). Drybrush with any silver. Gives it a old military surplus color I like. Happy hobbying!
LISTEN GIT! GREEN IZ DA BEST! BUT REDZ GOES FASTA!
Well it's da best but it's not giving aby buffs such as Red goes faster and purple is sneaky
Purple being sneaky I hate to say is not a real thing just a joke we made that stuck
Nope is snekky
Because that would look pretty boring on the tabletop.
You are boring. I took your comment as an insult
I might be, but I assure you my yellow, purple, copper, and rust Ork army is not.
A pretty much all green model with a metal gun and some accent colours would be boring? No one tell the space marine players

How iz we go fasta if wez not use red?
Eva thought of loosing yer beloved Shoota or Choppa in a huge WHAAAAGH? If da boys are comin yoiz neva find it 'gain.

This is the best answer so far
Green iz da best kuz orkz iz green. Not kuz itz green. A green gun ain't gonna be az good az a green ork, koz orkz iz best.
Diz ansher is da best
Because if everything is best, nothing is best
Because if everything is best, nothing is best
Why don’t the ummiez paint everything flesh color even tho they thinks theyz the best….. Cause datz just weird
They *do* tend to paint everything gold, don't they.
Deyz do don’t dey
Have I finally discovered the one thing Orks find weird
Weird boyz iz weird. Dats why they called dat.
The ork usin it is already green, ydont need more green.
But more green would mean more better
