They meet at Hooters months after the split and in this pic Brendon is talking to Ryan. Despite what many think the split was not violent, for example Brendon and Spencer made some promo for the Young Veins tour in the Panic's mail and it was overall friendly. There is also a 2013 pic of them meeting bc yk they're both musicians so at the end of the day they still go to the same places and with the same people (for example both were still friends with Gabe Saporta who is a close friend of Pete Wentz as well so yeah)

looking4answers24

This exactly!! The made up lore in this fandom about them hating each other is so dumb!!!! Now, had they not split, they probably would have ended up hating each other but they said themselves, it was better to separate when they did and remain friends.

Lady_Trickster_

Exactly! Everybody sees them as well developed stars but back then they were barely adults. They formed a band when they were teenagers and obviously there were going to be disagreements. In my opinion, they are all exceptionally creative people that did amazing things together but gave their best when they weren't forced to get along. The idea that they hate each other is super dumb, they just lost contact like the majority of teenage friends do, or maybe they even meet each other and chat, if they happen to be at the same event or something (ex Jon and Spencer having lunch together a while ago)

Catsandcamping

I have always been under the impression that they were amicable and at least friendly, but the toxic members of the fandom created this false narrative. I don't understand the idea that because you *used* to work together you can't be friends. I have many friends from former jobs!

Eastern_Mousse_4867

Absolutely right, its likely overblown and inaccurate.

cries_in_student1998

Where's the 2013 pic. I've never been able to find it despite hearing the legends.

acdhf

this is so blurry and shaky that I am skeptical of it being real

Lady_Trickster_

From what I know it's 100% real, or at least I never heard anybody saying otherwise. I can't be sure but I kinda believe it to be real since the photoshop back then wasn't as good as it is now

Ok_Lawfulness1680

yes it is definitely real as far as i’m aware and has been around a very long time, considering it’s from 2013. i don’t have much info on the picture and welcome anyone who does, however there are a lot of claims that this is backstage at a ‘fun.’ concert ! for anyone who’s interested

Lady_Trickster_

That's totally possible. I love fun and they have worked with Brendon at the song "C'mon" and made so appearances during the Vices tour, so that's totally plausible

cries_in_student1998

If I'm going off Brendon's hair in this, early 2013 at least. He doesn't have his signature cut in that photo.

madatnothing7

This does not look like a hooters what 😭

Lady_Trickster_

Idk it's just what I heard. I'm not American so I don't even know what Hooters is😅

Sin_City_Symphony

People just love to create the narrative that they were at each others throats and the split was toxic. Not at all. The fandom is/was seriously the best and worst thing to ever happen to panic!

Izakei

I really feels like the toxicity that the fanbase had slowly fade away as the years went along, or maybe they just migrated to twitter. Either way, it's nice to see that 99% of the people on this sub can appreciate the positive thing that the band made during their run

SephirothYggdrasil

The toxicity started up again from fans who were litterally babies when Ryan was in the band.  I had to tell some twink I met on Grindr "Do not recite the deep magic to me witch, I was there when it was written".

baronkoalas

They met by chance at Hooters!

cries_in_student1998

No, they had been talking way before that photo was taken. Sometime around March-May 2010 they got back into contact properly. I know Ryan Ross and Shane Valdez (Brendon's roommate and PATD's photographer) were tweeting at each other in March 2010. This photo was taken by Shane in August.

baronkoalas

Yes, they had been talking! But this was a chance meeting, Brendon tweeted this photo with the caption, “small world” lol

cries_in_student1998

Nah, they had met up in March or April before that. Spencer talked about it. >"At the very beginning, we didn't talk," drummer Spencer Smith tells AOL. "After a little while, I think we individually all realized we were good friends outside of the band. It was only because we were in this business together that caused us to have any of the disagreements that we did." > >Smith says that he and Ross reconnected "**about nine months ago**" and are now back on good terms. "Now it's great, because we're able to see each other, and we'll go grab a drink some times," he says. "It's good because it was an amicable split. And it's nice because when you go back to being friends apart from having to write music together, which is, I think, the best thing for us." Interview was released in (edit) late February 2011, so if we grant that roughly 9 months ago was likely either January or December when the interview was done, they likely met up in either March to May 2010. They all had been friendly with each other for months.

acdhf

They used to tweet each other often back in 2010 - 2012 as well.

Lady_Trickster_

That's true! I remember the happy birthdays and a couple of funny exchanges, like this one (screenshotted in 2019 so that's why the pics are different but it's from 2011) https://preview.redd.it/iilc5u0tik8d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5368d74f4b92ee05697867838a83b010de3da71

Aggravating-Class806

THIS is how i found out im born on the same day as Ryan Ross 😭

panicatthedisco-_

thatgreengent

Just wanted to hop in here and clarify, this was actually taken around the end of 2009. This was taken at a Young Veins listening party for Take a Vacation that was held at a bar the autumn prior to the album’s release (TAV came out in June 2010). Another fun fact, that listening party was held at a bar in NY that I believe Pete Wentz co-owned at the time? Or had a friend that owned it, don’t exactly remember. Only reason I know is because my brother and a friend tried to attend but were just a few weeks shy of their 21st birthdays and it was a 21+ only show. They were pretty bummed because a good deal of musicians from FBR were in attendance at that listening party.

killmykind

They were making a movie at the time, it was about the french revolution but they didn't have enough cast members to help fund the project so it was scrapped, but this picture was taken at the beginning of the project, they were talking about the budget while eating at a high end restaurant. They just put it as a business expense, committing their first tax fraud, congratulations guys (: This is a gaslight lol
