Perth's population has grown a fair bit since covid.
For some reason lots of people don't choose to take the bus/train
That said even the public transport network (especially the Mandurah line) is chockers busy now.
> For some reason lots of people don't choose to take the bus/train
More than doubling the time it would take to get to work making it 90 minutes each way is my reason
PT in Perth still sucks if you can't go in a straight line into or out of the city
I take the bus/train daily and yes I agree the buses aren't very reliable.
On the way home from uni the (usually late) bus drops you off at the train station just *after* the train has just left so I have to wait some 15 minutes :(
I just looked up what my commute would be to work via pt. Almost 2hrs, the drive is 25 minutes in traffic. One day in public transport is almost as much time as my entire week's commute. Not like I'm in the middle of nowhere either, going from city of canning to Bayswater
Even my city commute for when I'm working there is 1hr15 compared to ~40mins. Busses are no good for commuters because they're just as stuffed by traffic as a car but also an indirect route and we still depend heavily on them for most of our interconnects.
I need PT to at least match the speed of my bike, at the moment it doesn't do that.
Opposite for me, 10 mins shaved off 30 min drive to work thanks to school holidays. the way home is still around 40+ mins. Also a few parts on Tonkin are now 100! So gets me there abit quicker.
10k a week people coming in, cancelled work from home mandates, public transport being uncomfy and smelly, the rain also stops people from using Public transport.
In the end our infrastructure wasn't made for this amount of people.
Where does the 10k number come from? Sources would be great
Because in 2023 the population increased by less than 2k people per week
Edit: as I asked for a source, I'll provide mine
https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/department-of-treasury/population
3.3% increase is ~95,000 a year, or about ~1850 a week.
10k per week would be a 17% increase in one year.
Meh, I had a dream run home today at about 1pm. No slow drivers on the Graham Farmer, even in the tunnel in the right lane. A miracle! The slowies on the Mitchell were easily avoided. It was a notable run, and delightful!
Last couple of weeks has been better TBH during peak hours for me at least, School and Uni holidays so may be more people around during the day than normal.
You say that but 2 days in a row fuckswits decide they want to ruin everyones day who commute on Roe hyw by rear ending someone else or some shit.... It's really not that hard.
Going for the 3peat tomorrow

I would catch the bus but sometimes I have to wait several buses before there’s one I can even get on. It’s not reliable.

You're not making a direct line into and out of the City?! Madness.

All of armadale line is down; only replacement buses. may be a factor.
Depending where they drive to and from, this is probably the biggest current factor
capacity to fill Albany, FWY sth, and orrong!
Where? Is there specific places you drive to and from?c and compared to when?
# VAGUE STATEMENT See title basically. Vague description, no further details.

If you're complaining about traffic, you are traffic.
That’s just the right lane mate.

> Where does the 10k number come from? Sources would be great That will be the number for Australia total, not just WA.
You know what, i legit cannot find the sources, ive been using news on tik tok and i could very very well be wrong, the rest is right tho.
News on tik tok? That explains so much about what you post
Posted.
It was great during covid lockdowns. Too many survived the cull. Come on wave 17.
It’s actually not. In fact the next two weeks traditionally has less traffic. You are in your own bubble.

It’s always worse in winter. But also yes, our population has grown since covid as so many over east moved here.
Last couple of weeks has been better TBH during peak hours for me at least, School and Uni holidays so may be more people around during the day than normal.
Population increase has grown more than expected. Also depends where you are travelling to/from
Currently school holidays if lately means this week.
I do feel like meth 2 just dropped with the shenanigans I've seen people pull just today
Its all the pajeets they have mass imported
Cagers gonna cage
School holidays
Definitely immigration. Too many blow ins
Sounds like a north of the river problem

Yeah ok, we'll just ignore the kwinana freeway which has worst peak hour traffic in Perth.
