That one in particular is more of a strawman; nobody ever told them they couldn't say "Merry Christmas"; they just started making up the idea because some people referred to other holidays, and now they think saying "Christmas" is an act of rebellion.
They have a bottomless well of BS to pull things from, whereas you can only know/remember so much, even if you are a genius, that's their advantage, that's why "debating" is so difficult. We should really leave it to the lizard people to deal with them.
"They have a bottomless well of BS to pull things from, whereas you can only know/remember so much"
You probably just summarized the upcoming debates. Last time it was simply "What about Hunter".
Well, the Alamo was fought to preserve slavery in Texas. Santa Ana was marching to enforce the abolition of slavery.
That detail isn't taught in schools. "The Alamo" was a successful degenerate-to-hero story of the Confederacy. And completely detaching it from the rest of the Confederacy was how the myth-making succeeded.
So it tracks. Just not the way HE thinks.
Not only were the âTexansâ fighting to preserve slavery, and ironically enough, to keep an open border with Mexico so goods could travel back and forth easily. They were also mostly âsettlersâ i.e. illegal immigrants on Mexican land trying to take it for themselves and start their own thing on it. When the Mexicans came to give them what for most of them fled back to the US and the ones that holed up in the Alamo begged for U.S. military reinforcement but the U.S. government had a pact with Mexico and was like âehhh sorry we arenât starting a war with Mexico for you guysâ.

Well damn. 51 years on this earth and I had never heard this before. I always remember the history of The Alamo being taught as the US protecting its new territory from Mexico who was trying to reclaim it as theirs. Nothing about slavery was ever mentioned.

Even though neitherâs reasons have any overlapÂ
And really living comfortably in the US requires more than that in every state in the union. The trick has worked so well that theyâve even got people whoâs time and labor is undervalued and underpaid complaining that those who are even more undervalued and underpaid are the reason they are being undervalued and underpaid.
>Wealthy 1% that only care about paying less and having less regulation at any cost Â
The wealthy 1% that actively want to crash the economy and destroy the middle class and democracy, so that they can buy up everything for pennies on the dollar to become the 0.1% with the rest of the 99.9% as their indentured servants.
El Alamo was in Tejas, Mexican territory back then.
Americans were allowed to settled in, but when Mexico abolished slavery they revolted against Mexico, they obviously refused to give up their slaves.
That's the fundamental origin of the Texans revolt, keep owning slaves, and fought to the death to prove it.
I remember that.
Motivated by a desire for revenge, as well as their written desire to preserve a border open to immigration and the importation and practice of slavery, the Texians defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836
So in modern terms. The Mexicans were Ukraine fighting to hold their land and Texas were the Soviets Annexing land. All to keep exporting trade routes open and maintain slavery labor for the State.
The Texas State History Museum has an exhibit dedicated to the Texas Revolution. It has rooms with several walls depicting the brave heroes of the revolution and their struggle.
Oh, and one short sentence at the bottom of the last wall saying by the way the revolution mainly happened because slavery was outlawed in Mexico and their central government was becoming powerful enough to be able to be able to enforce it.
Eh, more like Mexico invited the Americans to come to Texas/Mexico to fill up the land that they couldn't get their own citizens to move to, made them pinky swear to not practice slavery and to convert to Catholicism and then realized too late that Americans gonna American and tried to put the genie back in the bottle too late.
Texans. They weren't part of the United States yet. And the only reason they weren't Mexicans is because they declared independence from Mexico. Thus leading to the Alamo.
Texas fought for independence from Mexico largely because Mexico had outlawed slavery. Â
Then shortly after joining the US, Texas seceded with the confederacy, in order to keep slavery.Â
The reason Oklahoma has that weird panhandle is that the US had already outlawed slavery north of that line of latitude, so Texas gave it up. If they couldnât keep slaves there, they didnât want that land. Â
Juneteenth is a celebration of the date that (several months after the civil war ended) a brigade of 2000 troops landed in Galveston to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation in the state of Texas. Â
Also, every prison built on Texas land up til the 1980s was built on the site of a former slave plantation. In effect, slavery in Texas [never fully ended.](https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2024-06-14/plantations-to-prison-farms-how-far-have-we-come/)
Would you believe Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836, joined the United States in 1845, and seceded from the US in 1861 to join the Confederacy? They left two different nations over their "right" to keep slaves within 25 years.
Mexico said to American settlers at the Alamo that they couldn't have slaves anymore, and those at the Alamo fought the Mexican military. So when you remember the Alamo, remember that they were fighting to keep slave labor.
I live in Texas. I canât imagine anyone living in Texas not believing in global warming. Itâs hot as fuck and gets hotter every damn year. Maybe they donât think itâs man made, or they donât think there is anything we can do about it, but to not believe it at all? Iâd bet $5 this dweeb thought Colorado was too liberal and moved down here a year ago and thinks this is just how itâs always been.
Late to the party but this guy is a real piece of work. I used to pass him everyday sitting out front of a womenâs clinic protesting abortion and yelling at drivers, playing his guitar. The best part was the womenâs clinic didnât even provide abortions. He is not a friendly individual at all.
from a somewhat civilized country it just looks so absurd that the USA has those insane freaks sitting around, as if they were waiting for the next ride to the mental ward.

My memory is pretty fuzzy on the Alamo but I remember Jan 6 very clearly.
The Alamo is when the Americans got slaughtered by Mexicans⊠Iâm not sure if thatâs the part to remember.
El Alamo was in Tejas, Mexican territory back then. You mean when we stole territory from Mexico like we stole an entire continent from the native American Indians
Remember: they vote.
Yep. And unlike the people on my side, they donât quibble over minor things or snap into a circular firing squad before each election.
Sometimes Iâm embarrassed to be a Texan đ€ŠđŒââïž
Governor Abbott is doing his darnedest to make it a 24/7 embarrassment. Of course, ERCOT will assist him in this venture...
Then he'll blame Wind and Solar for any blackouts.Â
Wind and solar sure are putting I work in Texas must be all the wind flowing between these MAGA republicans hollow heads

Global warming doesn't care if he believes or not. It's not cooling off, is it?
Heâs a hoarder of filthy, bad-take homemade signs.
A reminder of the gravity of the importance in helping your children develop the ability to honestly and critically self-reflect!
Frisco, Texas is under an excessive heat warning right now. But, yes, global warming is a lie.

Find yourself someone that loves you like white boomers love putting their uninformed opinions that nobody asked for on signs.Â
Guy waving confederate flag: âthuh democrats was the KKK betcha dint no that.â
Good god, that talking point has to be the most braindead thing these parrots have ever learned to repeat.
Bro is sitting in one of the hottest places in the US talking bout climate change being a hoax. Dumb f***
How cute, a community gathering of tender snowflakes behind an orange spray tanned cause.
Late to the party but this guy is a real piece of work. I used to pass him everyday sitting out front of a womenâs clinic protesting abortion and yelling at drivers, playing his guitar. The best part was the womenâs clinic didnât even provide abortions. He is not a friendly individual at all.
