I think so many of us think of shadow ball and fast special attackers when initially thinking of the ghost type. But really, being ghostly is technically a physical property of one's body, so I can see the reasoning on why it was a physical type.
Dragon, on the other hand... That also seems like a "physical property" type, in the way bug and ghost are. But I guess it's more about the energy than being draconic.
We may never know what their true intentions were when it came to that system, especially since it has been done away with.
Yes, I’ve been saying this convergent Pokémon became a thing. Eevee is the perfect candidate for it. You could still have the base be a normal type and push the other types out over a few gens. It would give the fans what they want plus allow them to keep all the marketing stuff they do for Eevee

Alolan, Galarian and Paldean froms are still the same Pokémon as species. Raichu is still a mouse, for instance. Wugtrio and Toedscruel aren't a mole and a jellyfish, but a eel and a mushroom, respectively. It would be like if the fossil Pokémon would get actual bird forms.

Convergent forms are unrelated species that evolved to have similar features (like bats and birds, or dolphins and sharks). Pokémon cartoonish artstyle allows to make it more extreme and make a cartoon eel look like a cartoon mole and a cartoon fungus look like a cartoon jellyfish.

Kinda breaks the paradox rules. All the paradoxes that were of unevolved mons were also stone evolving mons (magneton, misdreivous, jigglypuff) so a paradox eevee definitely wouldnt evolve either

I would definitely prefer a new Pokémon or Eevee to cover the remaining Eevolution Types . I just can't think of another currently existing Pokémon I'd want to get all those different evolutions.
One Idea I had a while back that I liked just because it was different was for existing Eevolutions to evolve and pick up the missing types that way, like Vaporeon getting a Water/Dragon Type sea serpent evolution or Flareon getting a Fire/Rock Type lava evolution. It's not remotely fleshed out; I just thought it was a neat twist on the topic of the currently nonexistent Eevolutions.
Well, there are eighteen types. The Eevee line represents nine of them, with the physically-oriented Normal-type becoming one of eight special oriented types. This leaves one special and eight physical types.
Imagine if there was a cute little dragon pokemon that could evolve into eight different physically oriented draconic pokemon, in the same way that all of the Eeveelutions are all feline-vulpine-esque creatures.
I agree that it should be Charcadet. Evolving by equipping armors is the perfect gimmick for introducing additional evolutions. The next generation should introduce at least two new evolutions for them.
Lockstin has made a video about it at some point, but I really liked his idea of having a brand new mon, in his example, a lizard-like mon, that's focused on multiple evolutions but for the more "physical" types.
Eevee's evolutions are all based on the types that were previously Special-only or more geared towards being Special types, in the case of the Fairy-type. So a new mon that evolves into the different Physical types (Rock, Ground, Fighting, Steel, etc) could actually be a really cool idea, in my opinion!
I feel like they won't change an existing pokemon for that, but rather make a new one.
My guess is a humanoid pokemon, that evolve to different fantasy races or tropes, based on the different missing types.

I'd lokw there to be a regional gimmick that allows Absol to evolve into different type combinations made to use specific slashing moves.

I want them to make a fighting or ghost variant of eevee. Like a regional version. Its name can be something dumb like veevee or oovoo and then it’ll have all the evolution types that eevee doesnt.
So it would have a pure dragon, bug, ghost/fighting (whatever one the base one isn’t), poison, flying, ground, steel, and rock. Basically all the gen 3 physical types. It can be the counterpart to eevee. Or they could just give us the rest of the eeveelutions.
Toxel would be a good one. Expand on its evolution gimmick based on natures and add more forms accordingly. The evolutions could be based on music genres too, like a sassy Toxel would evolve into a fairy type that exudes all things pop music, a bold Toxel could be a normal type themed to orchestral music, a relaxed Toxel could be a psychic type with a jazz theme.
I believe it was the lockskin and noggin YouTube channel that suggested this, but it would be cool if they created an lizard equivalent of eevee for the remaining type's as many of the unused types would fit pretty good onto reptiles.
I like the idea of a teddy bear turning into lots of different types of bears based on real bears. This should have been teddiursa and then he could have got the forms eevee didnt like before glaceon we could have had teddiursa turn into beartic. And a fighting being bewear.
Charcadet is a cool choice too

Keep in mind that Eevee not only has its whole evolution gameplay gimmick associated with it, but also its recognition among people who acknowledge the existence of the series as a whole. The candidate Pokémon has to appeal to all sorts of people, such as people who used to play but don't anymore for whatever reason, or parents who have never played but whose kids are into Pokémon who need to be able to quickly pick a merch item off store shelves. As much as the Pokémon community dislikes the question of what a Pokémon is "supposed" to look like, the truth is that this question is a major factor in what drives sales of merch depicting that Pokémon. The moment you lose this instant marketability of the candidate Pokémon, the moment it gets disqualified from the running, because it's simply not iconic and recognizable enough.
I agree that I would like Charcadet to be expanded upon, at least if we're solely talking about gameplay. But outside of that, I don't think it's the right choice for giving this gimmick to, because it doesn't have the same marketability as a Pokémon like Eevee does. Unless Charcadet gets put in pretty much every future main series Pokémon game, I fear it won't ever be able to approach the same levels of recognition as Eevee.
A regional variant eevee would be my pick. A normal eevee covers pre-split special types sans dragon, a regional variant eevee could cover the physical types as its set of evolutions.

This one’s kinda weird because it doesn’t have a split evolution to begin with, but I think it could really work for Clefairy. It used to be normal type before the fairy type was made, and it’s supposedly from the moon.
What if they’re not *just* from the moon though? What if there are Clefairy all over the solar system that evolve into different Pokémon depending on where they live? We could have a Clefairy evolution based around the planets, the sun, meteors, etc, depending on what stone is used on it, and I think that would be super cool.
Dragonair, similar to Eevee with the evolution stones or levelling with happiness during the day or night and you get different types of dragons outside of Dragonite.
I'd absolutely love if they gave Honedge the ability to evolve into different kinds of weapons. Lance, warhammer, glaives, flail, roman shield, mace, etc.. And each one being ghost/something else.
My choice has always been Dhelmise for this kind of concept. Make it similar to Rotom. There’s fan art out there of the seaweed itself as a Pokémon; make that form Grass/Ghost and from there apply an alternate type to it’s Ghost typing based on what the seaweed has attached itself to, just like how Rotom applies the Electric typing to all its forms.
Regular Dhelmise (attached to an anchor) could be Steel/Ghost. Maybe it attaches itself to a broken plane propellor and becomes Flying/Ghost. Maybe it attaches to a patch of discarded trash in the sea and becomes a Poison/Ghost trash monster. Perhaps it finds a buried treasure chest and becomes a Dark/Ghost mimic. Could even just give the base form Dhelmise an evolution into a larger seaweed creature.
Dhelmise has always been kinda disliked by the community, I think (and by myself included), so this could maybe be a way to revision it.
I thought we were in the midst of a cool Meowth regional typing pattern but SV stopped that. Would have been awesome to have a new Meowth/Persian/new split evo in every subsequent generation.

Whatever it is, I think you have to take into account how marketable the Pokemon is too - i.e. how easy it would be to produce plushes and orther 3d merchandise. Charcadet is insanely cool. It is also not easy to spell or verb i.e. "eeveelution". And it has a lot of dimension and shape to it. The eeveelutions and Pikachu was fairly simple base designs and themes.
That being said, an exsisting Pokemon that I think would make the most sense - probably Mimikyu. I know it's debut Gen has come and gone but I think it had a lot of potential for different outfits and different typings kind of like what they had with the Rotom forms. Mimikyu also could help to sell their other Pokemon "brands" through dressing up as the other mons and promoting them. They have a lot of Ditto merch as other Mons for example. They haven't really done anything with this in the games that I'm aware of - but Alola is a little out of my gen. Played some, and beat Shield, but not much since PLA.
Whatever the next Eevee is, the base has to be rather neutral and cute. It's got to be land based animal. ...I really think they can't escape Eeevee though honestly - they've made a perfect formula.
I want Mimikyu to get a new chance. I love the little guy it's such a shame it wants to be accepted, so it wears a disguise. But what if it evolved through friendship and depending on the item its holding, it would get a new typing and form.
The idea is because of the love it has for its trainer, and the love the trainer has for it, it can come out of its shell and embrace who it is deep down, no longer needing a disguise. And the items don't have to be anything crazy, maybe make use of those colored collector plates, each color representing a type.
Based on the plate, it's typing will reflect that, giving it a unique evolution that is its own, instead of being modeled or something similar to any other pokemon. That way it can show how proud it is to be itself. The catch is it still has to keep either its ghost or fairy typing. So whatev3r it evolves into will still have that dual typing.
That would make me happy.

Scyther. We already have Scizor & Kleavor, which they already cover 4 types Eevee doesn't (Bug, Flying, Steel & Rock). Just find a new bladed weapon and a different type.
Slowpoke. Make another Pokemon to function as the symbiote. Maybe Clamperl or Shellmet, to make more "physical" forms of Slowpoke evolutions.

That's kinda pointless since we already have Eevee covering those types. Getting an Eevee counterpart covering the remaining types is what I want to see. Another Eevee is just pointless

I literally shiny hunted charcadet despite the fact that its evolutions have terrible shinies just in case they introduced a new armor in the dlc.
I was disappointed there was no new regional meowth this gen. I liked the idea of regional meowths being a thing.
Don't remind me... I'm still salty that Jessie didn't catch an Alolan Meowth and James a Galarian Meowth. Then all 3 Meowths decide to attack Ash's Sirfetch'd... who OHKO them all with one Fighting move. This episode would teach them that Fighting is strong against Normal, Dark and Steel XD
I would definitely prefer a new Pokémon or Eevee to cover the remaining Eevolution Types . I just can't think of another currently existing Pokémon I'd want to get all those different evolutions. One Idea I had a while back that I liked just because it was different was for existing Eevolutions to evolve and pick up the missing types that way, like Vaporeon getting a Water/Dragon Type sea serpent evolution or Flareon getting a Fire/Rock Type lava evolution. It's not remotely fleshed out; I just thought it was a neat twist on the topic of the currently nonexistent Eevolutions.

Unrelated to my initial comment, I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one Fakémon maker do a Normal Type Eevolution as, like, a bigger, fancier Eevee.
Well, there are eighteen types. The Eevee line represents nine of them, with the physically-oriented Normal-type becoming one of eight special oriented types. This leaves one special and eight physical types. Imagine if there was a cute little dragon pokemon that could evolve into eight different physically oriented draconic pokemon, in the same way that all of the Eeveelutions are all feline-vulpine-esque creatures.
I agree that it should be Charcadet. Evolving by equipping armors is the perfect gimmick for introducing additional evolutions. The next generation should introduce at least two new evolutions for them.

I would say Rotom is already kind of "the next Eevee"; it doesn't evolve but it has a wide range of forms. That said I love the Charcadet ideas

Lockstin has made a video about it at some point, but I really liked his idea of having a brand new mon, in his example, a lizard-like mon, that's focused on multiple evolutions but for the more "physical" types. Eevee's evolutions are all based on the types that were previously Special-only or more geared towards being Special types, in the case of the Fairy-type. So a new mon that evolves into the different Physical types (Rock, Ground, Fighting, Steel, etc) could actually be a really cool idea, in my opinion!
Since Charcadet and its evos are some of my favorite gen 9 'mons, and Eevee is one of my favorite all-time 'mons, I second this idea

I feel like they won't change an existing pokemon for that, but rather make a new one. My guess is a humanoid pokemon, that evolve to different fantasy races or tropes, based on the different missing types.

I think they should make a new pokemon based on passerine birds. Like a little generic brown bird like a sparrow or something that evolves into like a cardinal, a blue jay, an oriole, etc.

What type would its base form be and do you think they should evolve into their counterpart's base form's type? A joey pre-evo and a male evolution would be welcomed. I recall Mantine "losing" its attached Remoraid, so I could see female Kangaskhan not evolving with a baby, but having that said pre-evo as a separate Pokémon.

I always wanted a Flying/____ version of Eevee. A parrot or something that evolves into every (former) physical type to stand opposite Eevee. However, like many other commenters, I'm also a big fan of the convergent evolution angle they've introduced recently, so a pseudo-Eevee would be hilarious as well. Eevo, Jolteo, Flareo, Vapeo.

I'd lokw there to be a regional gimmick that allows Absol to evolve into different type combinations made to use specific slashing moves. Dark/Psychic for Psycho Cut, Dark/Fire for Bitter Blade, Dark/Grass for Leaf Blade, Dark/Bug for X-Scissor, etc.
So... each typing representing a disaster? That's neat :) A tsunami-inspired Dark/Water Absol with Aqua Cutter would be cool ;)

I want them to make a fighting or ghost variant of eevee. Like a regional version. Its name can be something dumb like veevee or oovoo and then it’ll have all the evolution types that eevee doesnt. So it would have a pure dragon, bug, ghost/fighting (whatever one the base one isn’t), poison, flying, ground, steel, and rock. Basically all the gen 3 physical types. It can be the counterpart to eevee. Or they could just give us the rest of the eeveelutions.

Toxel would be a good one. Expand on its evolution gimmick based on natures and add more forms accordingly. The evolutions could be based on music genres too, like a sassy Toxel would evolve into a fairy type that exudes all things pop music, a bold Toxel could be a normal type themed to orchestral music, a relaxed Toxel could be a psychic type with a jazz theme.

I believe it was the lockskin and noggin YouTube channel that suggested this, but it would be cool if they created an lizard equivalent of eevee for the remaining type's as many of the unused types would fit pretty good onto reptiles.

I like the idea of a teddy bear turning into lots of different types of bears based on real bears. This should have been teddiursa and then he could have got the forms eevee didnt like before glaceon we could have had teddiursa turn into beartic. And a fighting being bewear. Charcadet is a cool choice too
A Lancer Charcadet for a Bug Fire. I think they can explore more than just a Charcadet. Because let's be real, Charcadet is a fun design idea that can be explored... Like a Ground type Corecadet that has it's unique twist on the two armours to become different types than Psychic Or Ghost. A Cloucadet for a pure flying one. A Cascadet for water. Or they can get different armours so it's not just Ceruledge and Armarouge.

Keep in mind that Eevee not only has its whole evolution gameplay gimmick associated with it, but also its recognition among people who acknowledge the existence of the series as a whole. The candidate Pokémon has to appeal to all sorts of people, such as people who used to play but don't anymore for whatever reason, or parents who have never played but whose kids are into Pokémon who need to be able to quickly pick a merch item off store shelves. As much as the Pokémon community dislikes the question of what a Pokémon is "supposed" to look like, the truth is that this question is a major factor in what drives sales of merch depicting that Pokémon. The moment you lose this instant marketability of the candidate Pokémon, the moment it gets disqualified from the running, because it's simply not iconic and recognizable enough. I agree that I would like Charcadet to be expanded upon, at least if we're solely talking about gameplay. But outside of that, I don't think it's the right choice for giving this gimmick to, because it doesn't have the same marketability as a Pokémon like Eevee does. Unless Charcadet gets put in pretty much every future main series Pokémon game, I fear it won't ever be able to approach the same levels of recognition as Eevee.

A regional variant eevee would be my pick. A normal eevee covers pre-split special types sans dragon, a regional variant eevee could cover the physical types as its set of evolutions.
Clearly the answer is more Charizard forms /s They should flesh out the eevee line to cover the other forms as a gimmick in their next game series. Like wouldn't it have been cool had the missing eeveelutions had been the past/present forms in S/V. Get a Robo-eevee from the future for steel and a Dino Eevee from the past. And a ghost eevee from Arven's family relationships.

This one’s kinda weird because it doesn’t have a split evolution to begin with, but I think it could really work for Clefairy. It used to be normal type before the fairy type was made, and it’s supposedly from the moon. What if they’re not *just* from the moon though? What if there are Clefairy all over the solar system that evolve into different Pokémon depending on where they live? We could have a Clefairy evolution based around the planets, the sun, meteors, etc, depending on what stone is used on it, and I think that would be super cool.

Dragonair, similar to Eevee with the evolution stones or levelling with happiness during the day or night and you get different types of dragons outside of Dragonite.
They should make something like a manatee with evolutions of the types that Eevee is missing, making it Eevees counterpart.
I'd absolutely love if they gave Honedge the ability to evolve into different kinds of weapons. Lance, warhammer, glaives, flail, roman shield, mace, etc.. And each one being ghost/something else.
My choice has always been Dhelmise for this kind of concept. Make it similar to Rotom. There’s fan art out there of the seaweed itself as a Pokémon; make that form Grass/Ghost and from there apply an alternate type to it’s Ghost typing based on what the seaweed has attached itself to, just like how Rotom applies the Electric typing to all its forms. Regular Dhelmise (attached to an anchor) could be Steel/Ghost. Maybe it attaches itself to a broken plane propellor and becomes Flying/Ghost. Maybe it attaches to a patch of discarded trash in the sea and becomes a Poison/Ghost trash monster. Perhaps it finds a buried treasure chest and becomes a Dark/Ghost mimic. Could even just give the base form Dhelmise an evolution into a larger seaweed creature. Dhelmise has always been kinda disliked by the community, I think (and by myself included), so this could maybe be a way to revision it.

Whatever it is, I think you have to take into account how marketable the Pokemon is too - i.e. how easy it would be to produce plushes and orther 3d merchandise. Charcadet is insanely cool. It is also not easy to spell or verb i.e. "eeveelution". And it has a lot of dimension and shape to it. The eeveelutions and Pikachu was fairly simple base designs and themes. That being said, an exsisting Pokemon that I think would make the most sense - probably Mimikyu. I know it's debut Gen has come and gone but I think it had a lot of potential for different outfits and different typings kind of like what they had with the Rotom forms. Mimikyu also could help to sell their other Pokemon "brands" through dressing up as the other mons and promoting them. They have a lot of Ditto merch as other Mons for example. They haven't really done anything with this in the games that I'm aware of - but Alola is a little out of my gen. Played some, and beat Shield, but not much since PLA. Whatever the next Eevee is, the base has to be rather neutral and cute. It's got to be land based animal. ...I really think they can't escape Eeevee though honestly - they've made a perfect formula.

I think eevee should have a counterpart with the other half of the eevelutions that eevee doesn’t currently have.
I want Mimikyu to get a new chance. I love the little guy it's such a shame it wants to be accepted, so it wears a disguise. But what if it evolved through friendship and depending on the item its holding, it would get a new typing and form. The idea is because of the love it has for its trainer, and the love the trainer has for it, it can come out of its shell and embrace who it is deep down, no longer needing a disguise. And the items don't have to be anything crazy, maybe make use of those colored collector plates, each color representing a type. Based on the plate, it's typing will reflect that, giving it a unique evolution that is its own, instead of being modeled or something similar to any other pokemon. That way it can show how proud it is to be itself. The catch is it still has to keep either its ghost or fairy typing. So whatev3r it evolves into will still have that dual typing. That would make me happy.
