Thank you for posting to r/pokemon! We're glad to have you here, but unfortunately we've had to remove this post per our rule on [Objective Questions](/r/pokemon/wiki/rules#wiki_3._follow_text_and_poll_post_restrictions). This rule is in place per feedback we've received from the community because objective questions tend to fill the topic listing and often leave little room for further discussion once the question has been answered. We do have a [Weekly Questions Thread](https://rpkmn.center/questions) dedicated to seeking answers for questions like yours, though! A lot of knowledgeable Pokémon fans frequent that thread, so please consider posting your question there if you're still looking for an answer, and you may get a detailed answer even faster than you would have here! You also don't need to worry about a minimum word count in that thread.

Winter

Rhys_Herbert

Yooo new regional staryu?!!

aceofspadez138

Fairy/ice type

riftrender

No Ice/Psychic.

Thederpycloudrider

Better fitting for Staryu

aceofspadez138

Figure skating is more fairy than psychic imo

Rhodin265

How does Staryu decide which two are its feet?  Do you think it could switch?

Orlanth_thunderous

It just spins with its new blades and gets an added Steel type to physical attacks

KostKarmel

Bebe, wake up. New held item just dropped.

AwesomeNate

How will this affect the meta

GoldenBull1994

That would actually be a cool new game mechanic. Type switching items. I think it would work better in a side game rather than a mainline one though.

KiwiExtremo

staryu has a ring wrapped on the backside of one of its arms. I'd guess it can use it to "know" where each arm should go. They could choose to use the wrapped arm as the "left leg" always, and as such the next arm will always be the other "leg".

Toedscruel_2

I immediately thought the same thing, but looking at the art and sprites that actually seems to be its left leg.

KiwiExtremo

oh yeah, I used the left arm as an example, since I couldn't remember where the ring was and couldn't be bothered to search it up haha. Let me edit my comment tho

eduzatis

Whichever are at the bottom at the time

lakewood2020

I’m pretty sure it’s gold thing works like a one legged thong, so maybe the arm holding the thong in between its cheeks is the bottom leg

incognito_vito

Yes it can switch but I think it has to lose the two legs first then it switches while they regen as arms

ninjesh

Could be one of those Pokemon ISpy-style books. I have some, I'll have to check if this specific scene is in one

ranyave

This was my thought as well. My kids have a few of these books and this looks like the art style

JamieNelson94

Just checked; that’s what it is.

CosmoFishhawk2

Oh, is that also where the "Jolteon in a Jeep" is from?

salamander_poo

ice skate

SillyZubat

It looks like it’s from one of those 90s educational children’s books, like [this one](https://funnyjunk.com/channel/pokemon/Pokemon+play+in+english+book/DTwrLQG/) https://preview.redd.it/nii8qdpnijad1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d312f2f60c82e3a50f882ada03d2e25c4865eee7

CosmoFishhawk2

If only we could again have this wholesomeness WITHOUT the free-to-play gacha bullshit...

Careful-Taro-2138

I have not the slightest idea of what the context of this is, but I'm oddly enjoying it...

WyteFox

Item Ice skates = super effective against ice types

EditingTime

Stars on ice?

shinyzubat16

Staryu on Ice!

Monstrope

Can't a Staryu enjoy figure skating?

Kal315

I dunno but it reminded me of Patrick from SpongeBob.

mouaragon

Alolan form.

delspencerdeltorro

Be nice. He's trying to learn Triple Axel

JerryTheMagicSquid

HRRRRRAAAAAAHHHH!

rebeccajwilliamsqqb

what's happening in this Pokémon scene

OrangeVictorious

Staryu if awesome

Scared-Wish-2596

Now I want a heavy duty boots like item that raise the speed of any pokémon in hail

Carbon-Base

That's Staryu trying out for the next Winter Olympics for Pokemon

buckfutterapetits

You didn't think pokemon could just do the move Triple Axel without skates, did you?

squacky125

Staryu is fuckin balling bro

Wolfy701

My guess is that it looks like a page from one of those Japanese “全百科” quiz books. They have a lot of funny official art and I’ve seen plenty of scans that look like that (like this example) So it could be a page in a winter scene with goofy Pokemon shenanigans happening in the background. Not sure which one though. https://preview.redd.it/v49awvh4mjad1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d311694d956e2ffe04ad4800a6192cbcdda5a9a

ismokeshitweed

NorbytheMii

Confirmed: Staryu can now learn Triple Axel

Approved0rain

skate.

TheCaptainEgo

It’s a sticker by the lady who does the really cute psyduck animations on IG

NATHAN325

What's great is that if it falls on the ice and gets a limb cut off from someone else's skate, it can just regrow that limb!

Savings-Log-2709

wishythefishy

Starmie Triple Axel

MrMonteCristo71

Patrick.

eggcustarcl

I love him

ExaltedBlade666

I think it's pretty self explanatory

NotDawko3

Ghiaccio reincarnated as a Staryu.

Tararator18

Idk why but this is very uncanny

Villanellexbian

staryu is aspiring olympic figure skater. don't hate.
