My sister in law has a dog phobia but she quite likes my Disney princess of a dog. We take lots of precautions so things go well and she feels safe, but being a doe-eyed, fluffy goofball sure helps.

principle_fbundle

The interesting thing was that he took precautions himself: he likes to play with kids but he sensed that she was afraid of him so he didn’t approach, didn’t follow her, waited for her to approach first.

duketheunicorn

Yes, they’re so empathetic, mine is like a whole different (calm, gentle) dog around elderly and nervous folks. She would gingerly bring my SIL a ball to throw rather than her usual approach of forcing her head under any available hand or trying to sneak illegal kisses

seizuregirlz

Mine has learned to help me with my seizures. She can tell I'm in one and comes up and licks my face to see if I react. Then does some barks. When I don't respond she runs to whoever is nearby and barks to get their attention. When she does, she runs closer to me, turns, barks at them, looks over toward me, barks again, and continues until they come to me to help. She was never taught any of this. Repetition and her calm watching all the time helps her learn a lot of things.

Sweaty-Crazy-3433

I’m convinced that poods are the most empathetic breed of dog, after watching how ours react to people. They pick up on human moods and intention’s lightning fast.

pumpkinator21

Mine is so good with elderly people. He just knows to be gentle and usually goes right over to my grandpa or his sister (both in their mid 90s) when we visit with them. He sits just within reach and is happy to be patted and stroked for however long their hearts desire. When my aunt died he knew how to cheer the whole family up. We were all sitting in the living room being sad, so he went up to my aunt’s chair and sat down like he usually does (okay adorable). But then he started *butt scratching along the carpet* just as everyone was staring at him. We literally all cried of laughter and joked that it was his reminder than she always gave him the runs (she fed him all sorts of people food when we weren’t looking). They can really read the room!

Disastrous-Panda5530

They are very intuitive and emotionally intelligent as well. Usually when I go to my parents my toy poodle doesn’t really hang out with my parents since he’s always glued to me. My parents lost their dog and it hit my dad really hard. Since she was his companion while he worked at home. I was surprised that when I went back to visit next he was by my dad’s side. He was pretty much petting and cuddling with him the whole weekend. Even my husband was surprised. He pretty always prefers me no matter who else is around.

wirefox1

When I bought my Sawyer, the breeder knew it was my first poodle, and as I left with him she said "remember, poodles are very intelligent and very sensitive". Wow. I had to see it to understand. A few days later something happened that made me cry and I was lying on the bed with him. A few minutes later this little puppy who still weighted 3.2 lbs. crawled up on my face and was licking away my tears. (He's three now, and weights 12 lbs. My boy loves to eat and still licks my tears, as well as water droplets after I shower. I love my little boy sooo much, and I tell him that until he's bored of it. lol.

anatomicallycorrect-

Mean while my boy watches me cry like "idk what to do but I know you're sad" 😂😅

Significant_Store464

That sounds like most male humans. They see the tears and don’t know quite what to do. ☺️

jcd1388

This brought tears to my eyes. We really don’t deserve these beautiful poos sometimes 🥹

Francois_harp

We really don’t deserve poodles.

paperanddoodlesco

Dogs are truly amazing!

AdventurousMouse23

This will probably spark her love of poodles for the rest of her life

principle_fbundle

Her parents told us that she was talking about Griff all day today :)

bmobitch

i’m not even a crier but that made my nose burn. what a wonderful dog you have. i bet it was so healing.

AdventurousMouse23

So precious!! Griff is a good boy 🥰

Sweaty-Crazy-3433

They are the so, so emotionally supportive. Therapy dogs.

-bunny-warrior-

I have a toy poodle and I take her out in her stroller almost every weekend. Sooo many parents have come up to me asking if their dog phobic child can pet her/give her a treat. My dog loves the extra attention and it’s great because the kids can see that dogs can be calm, goofy, and friendly. I live in a city with a ton of stray and aggressive dogs so a lot of kids don’t know any different. Poodles are great for people afraid of dogs because they can be so calm (plus the poodle haircut helps to diffuse things- pompoms are inherently non aggressive lol). I’m glad that your pup was able to demonstrate how wonderful dogs can be! 🐩

-bunny-warrior-

And it’s great since she’s in a stroller so kids can approach her at whatever comfort level they have.

kensingerp

Wonderfully poodles are the only dogs that I have ever had and my parents got me one when I was in the third grade. But anyway, fast-forward quite a number of years and I got a second poodle. Who was just quite as wonderful as the first. Oh my daddy began to have health problems and I visited them every Sunday for Sunday lunch after church. I began to notice how much my poodle did not stray from my father’s bedside when we served him lunch as well. My daddy had to have a hospital bed, so we basically just turned the first floor of the house into his room. Poodles are 24 hour a day lovers. if they can have your attention all day long and all night long, they are in their prime. Given all this, I decided to let my father “borrow” my poodle. Although I missed her desperately, this was the best decision I ever made and he got to be with her until the point in time that he had to have full-time care. I don’t regret sharing my poodle one iota.

Temperature-Glass

Awh, that's so precious, and caring :').

kensingerp

🥰🐩

merwookiee

You are such an incredible human to give so selflessly of yourself and your poodle. Thank you. 🖤🐩

kensingerp

Thank you for the compliment. I’m really no better than anybody else. I just wanted for my pup to be able to be around somebody she loved 24/7 as well. I knew she was the pup for me when I first met her because she had her mouth latched onto the tail of a Pekingese that was running full throttle making my girl completely airborne! She had not a care in the world! Again, thank you for the compliment and I hope that you have an incredibly blessed week! 🐩😊

IndigoRose2022

Awww 🥰 Good boy, Griff!

pakman82

It wasnt until I got a poodle as an adult that I understood the draw. They are.. more human than dog. Which makes them more human than most humans.. Sure their slightly judgy librarian's at times, but Ones that will follow you home with a good treat and cuddle with you during any movie... And thats just good and disarming to lots of dog adverse people.

MaxLeeba

Poodles are the best.

wirefox1

Ya know, I'd always heard that, but I think you have to have one to fully appreciate it.

Key_Campaign_1672

That is beautiful

DittyBurgerler

Your Griff is gorgeous!!!! ❤️🐩❤️

Wool_Lace_Knit

Poodles are magic. I have chronic headaches and neck pain. When we got home from picking up our toy poodle Abbie, who was 16 weeks, I had to immediately lay down. This sweet puppy, who had been asleep on my lap for the last 3 hours who normally would have been a bundle of energy, crawled up on my shoulder and laid down around my neck. For the next 16 1/2 years, whenever I had to lay down because of pain, she was right there. Or she would perch on top of my chair and watch over me. I can’t express how much I miss her since she crossed the bridge 2 years ago. Poodles are magic.

pixey1964

Awwwwww

High_Im_Nick

Aww that’s so sweet, what a beautiful dog, I remember my first interaction with a poodle, I was visiting family and my aunt had an old silver poodle, the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, she was so pretty and gentle, from that moment on I’ve fell in love with poodles. And funny enough the poodle I ended up getting shortly after ended up looking just like her, pretty much a carbon copy of personality and looks.

Okchamali_Vibin

I really think poodles are the best dogs for helping people (and other animals) work on their fear of dogs. They are extremely emotionally intelligent and are able to read a room and a way I've never seen in other dogs. Mine has a tendency to make friends with cats for this reason.

Sausage_Child

Good boy, Griff!

kennybrandz

Look at him!!!!😍

kensingerp

How absolutely fabulous! What a gorgeous boy! what do you want to bet in under two years this little girl has her “a Griff” of her own? 🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩

PhalanxA51

Yeah me and my family, with the exception of my dad, didn't really care for dogs until I got my poodle. I had been attacked by dogs on multiple occasions, got my Coco and Lucy and I did a 180° on dogs. Poodles and Rottweilers will always have a special place with me.

FL1ghtlesswaterfowl

I was traveling a few years ago. On of my stops, family I got to stay with had standard poodles-two of them. I fell in love with the breed. To me, they’re like fluffy retrievers. They were so much fun! PS Griff is gorgeous

squeemishyoungfella

i mean they kind of are. goofy, love attention and affection, historically worked in/around water, they're like a golden's fluffier and slightly smarter cousin

Smashley516

Good boy Griff! You're a handsome floof🥰

OtherlandGirl

Poodles are the best that way :) what a good boy!

mjw217

Such a good boy! My mother-in-law was afraid of dogs. She loved our first dog. He was a cream Miniature Poodle and a very good ambassador for the breed.

JNortic

Wonderful!

DarkwingDuckHunt

he's so fooofy

vegemitepants

Griff just changed history

New-Tap-2027

Griff is a handsome and wonderful guy, just look at that face 💕❤️🐾

RedWings1319

He's magnificent.

Willis050

“Hello, I’d like to love you. Is that okay?” Such a sweet boy

principle_fbundle

You know , it’s exactly what he was saying by his body language.

Amandanh99

I have a 3yo standard and when I worked at a daycare I brought her in and she ran around the back yard with almost 20 4yos without a collar an dshe did perfectly all the kids loved her. One little boy who was 3 was so excited to meet her but was also kinda shy and she gently walked up sniffed him then gave him to gentle little kisses on the cheeks. He was so happy that when he went back to his class he looked at his teacher with a big smile and said the doggy gave me kisses.

Braysal

Dogs know. 😍

Electrical-Music9403

I love standard poodles! They are such lovely dogs! Sweet.

Big_Philosopher9993

I don't have a poodle but I do have a rescued JRT mix and lemme just say this story warmed my soul. Griff has sweet eyes and he's really handsome

KasangafromMemphis

He is a very handsome boy

BunniesAreFunny

Good boy, Griff!

Lucky-Spirit7332

Wow griff is a total fox, look at that stunning Afro!!!

1JenniferOLG

And his haircut! So cute!

Significant_Store464

Griff is absolutely stunning! What a beautiful boy! I love dogs but especially poodles so much—they have my heart every time! Certain poodles look like lost relatives to our crew, and yours looks like our Sophie. I haven’t been here for some time after losing my red boy late last year as every time I tried to come here I cried. Not today, friend! I’m SO glad I came. I was here to find some info while grooming my girl Sophie. She looks very similar to your guy! I found Sophie is full of stickers on her poms from our morning walk. I was thinking about shaving her legs…and then I happened to see your beautiful Griff! Nope, not going to ruin her look! Back to gently picking and combing the sand burrs out and if it takes all day so be it. A screenshot of your pup will remind me what’s at stake. So glad to see such a gorgeous boy! So glad your boy taught that sweet little girl not all dogs bite! My younger sister was bitten at an early age and didn’t get near or touch another dog until she was in her mid 20s! Griff did a good job of repping all good doggies! Sorry to blather on. Full of emotion still but so happy to have some inspiration for the long afternoon ahead. Blessings to you both! Happy poodling! 😘

principle_fbundle

Thank you very much for your comment! Griff is a good boy and I am sure Sophie is an amazing, kind girl too! We are lucky to have them!

Pitiful-Agent5017

Gotta be Diva, or Cher. Poodles are just too extra as is

TootsieFairy13

Good boy, Griff. 🖤
